    Game #69 of the Season

    LA Dodgers(CPU) 3 @ Boston(ME) 2

The Dodgers grabbed an early 2-0 lead on a solo HR by Andre Ethier and an RBI single by Manny Ramirez who was welcomed back to Fenway with a chorus of boos from the crowd (great touch by SCEA). Chad Billingsley had his best stuff, taking a no-hitter into the 6th inning and allowing just 2 hits in 7 innings of work. Marco Scutaro drew a walk to start the 6th and Jacoby Ellsbury broke up the no-no by wrapping a line drive around the Pesky pole in RF to tie the game 2-2. Casey Blake hit a solo HR in the top of the 7th to give LA the 3-2 lead. Jonathan Broxton pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn the save.

The Red Sox are now 37-32 on the season

      Game #70 of the Season

      LA Dodgers(CPU) 3 @ Boston(ME) 9

The Dodgers grabbed a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by James Loney. Fustin pedroia would tie it with a solo HR in the 3rd. Boston went ahead for good on a Scutaro RBI single in the 4th inning and then the Sox exploded for 6 runs in the 5th to make it 8-1. Mike Cameron had a 2-run HR and the Red Sox chased Clayton Kershaw from the game before he could record an out in the 5th inning. Kevin Youkilis would add a HR in the 6th inning. James Loney went deep for LA in the 8th but the Dodgers couldn't make it interesting. Josh Beckett pitched well and earned his 10th win of the season.

The Dodgers were able to jump out to a 2-0 lead early in the game. The Red Sox took a 3-2 lead in the 4th on a 3-run HR by Jeremy Hermida. Boston would add 3 more runs to their lead in the 5th inning to open up a 6-2 lead. Clay Buchholz gave the Sox a solid outing as he pitched into the 7th inning before turning it over to the bullpen.

          Game #72 of the Season

          Boston(ME) 4 @ Colorado(CPU) 2

The story of this game was Jon Lester who pitched hell of a game against Ubaldo Jimenez. Lester did not allow a base runner until the 6th inning and took a one hitter into the 8th inning. The Red Sox took a lead in the first on an RBI double by Dustin Pedroia. Marco Scutaro would drive in a run w/ a sac fly in the 4th inning and Kevin Youkilis mashed a 2-run HR in the 5th to power the Red Sox offense. Jonathan Papelbon pitched bottom of the 9th to pick up save #23 on the season.

              Game #74 of the Season

              Boston(ME) 5 @ Colorado(CPU) 2

Daisuke Matsuzaka mixed all of his pitches and kept the Colorado hitters off balance as he pitched 6 strong innings. Matsuzaka also pitched in with an RBI on a safety squeeze bunt. Marco Scutaro led the Red Sox offensive attack with 2 doubles, 2 walks and 3 runs scored. The Rockies were able to get a run off Papelbon in the 9th and got the tying run on base and the go ahead run up to bat, but Papelbon was able to retire Clint Barmes on a fly ball to CF to end the game.

Mike Cameron was injured and left the game - he has been placed on the DL w/ a broken shin and will be out 1 to 2 months.

Darnell McDonald has been recalled from AAA Pawtucket.

                Game #75 of the Season

                Boston(ME) 3 @ San Francisco(CPU) 4

The Giants jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning on an RBI triple by Pablo Sandoval. The Red Sox exploded in the top of the 4th against Matt Cain for 3 straight HR's as Adrian beltre, JD Drew and Jeremy Hermida went back to back to back to give Boston a 3-1 lead. Beltre's HR was the deepest one I have seen all season as the ball traveled 488 feet and cleared the stands in LF. Josh Beckett was outstanding once again as he allowed just 1 run over 8 innings of work. Jonathan Papelbon came on to pitch the bottom of the 9th and attempt to close it out with a 3-1 lead. Papelbon retired the first 2 batters with ease and then gave up 4 straight hits to blow the save. Edgar Renteria delivered the game tying single for the Giants. The game went to the bottom of the 10th and Aubrey Huff hit a walk off HR off of Daniel Bard on a pitch that was at his shoe laces to give the Giants a dramatic 4-3 win. This was a crushing loss for the Red Sox.

                  Boston(ME) 5 @ San Francisco(CPU) 3

The Red Sox offense had their home run swings working for the 2nd day in a row as they hit 4 HR's in the game and now have 7 HR's in the first 2 games of the series. The Red Sox got solo HR's from Marco Scutaro, Adrian beltre and Darnell McDonald to give them an early 3-1 lead. The Giants made it a 3-2 game in the 5th inning and that would remain the score until the top of the 8th when Jeremy Hermida hit a 2-run pinch hit HR to give Boston a 5-2 lead. Daniel Bard would get the call in the 9th due to Jonathan Papelbon being fatigued. The Giants would push a run across with 2 outs in the inning but Bard would get the final out and pickup the save. The Giants threatened in just about every inning of this game but the Red Sox kept getting out of jams with minimal damage all game.

The Red Sox got a great pitching performance from Jon Lester who pitched 8 innings and allowed just 1 run while striking out 9 batters. Darnell McDonald homered for the 2nd straight day after being called up a few days ago fue to Mike Cameron's injury. The Red Sox were leading 2-1 in the top of the 7th when they loaded the bases and got RBI base hits from Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis to increase the lead to 5-1. Juan Uribe went 4 for 4 with 4 singles for the Giants. Manny Delcarmen pitched the 9th in the non-save situation to finish the game.

The Red Sox are now 43-34 on the season and will host 1st place Tampa Bay for a 2 game set at Fenway.

                      Game #78 of the Season

                      Tampa Bay(CPU) 5 @ Boston(ME) 6

The first place Rays came into town with a 7 game lead over Boston in the AL East. James Shields had his best stuff and held the Red Sox without a hit through the first 5 innings. Tampa took a 2-0 lead early in the game and stretched it to 4-0 in the top of the 7th on a 2 out double by Willy Aybar. Kevin Youkiis got the Red Sox on the board in the bottom of the 6th with an RBI single to make it a 4-1 game. Jeremy Hermida would add an RBI single in the 7th and the Red Sox would load the bases with 2 outs for Dustin Pedroia but Dan Wheeler would get Pedroia to fly out to RF to end the threat. The Red Sox would score again in the bottom of the 8th on an RBI single by Victor Martinez to make it 4-3. Adrian Beltre would follow with an RBI double to tie the game at 4-4 and setup runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out for Jeremy Hermida. JP Howell would strike out Hermida but Marco Scutaro came through with a 2 out single to drive in 2 runs and give the Red Sox a 6-4 lead to complete the comeback and send Fenway into a frenzy. Tampa Bay would manufactur a run off of Papelbon in the 9th but Papelbon would get John Jaso to ground out to end the game and give Boston a huge comeback victory.

The Red Sox are now 44-34 on the season

                              Baltimore(CPU) 7 @ Boston(ME) 6

Vicot Martinez hit a solo HR in the 2nd and Boston jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. The Orioles would score 7 unanswered runs between the 5th, 6th and 7th innings to go ahead 7-3 as Miguel Tejada and Nick Markakis each hit HR's.
The Red Sox are now 46-34 on the season and have won their last 5 games. Boston would score 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th to cut the Baltimore lead to 7-6. Kevin Youkilis just missed his tying it with his 2nd HR of the game by an inch in the bottom of the 9th as he drove one high off the top of the green monster and had to settle for a double. Alfredo Simon would get out of the 9th and record the save for Baltimore.
