    Game #59 of the Season

    Boston(ME) 2 @ Cleveland(CPU) 3 (19 INNINGS)

Boston and Cleveland played a 19 inning marathon with 15 mph winds blowing straight in from CF. The game was tied 0-0 into the top of the 7th as Daisuke Matsuzaka and Justin Masterson were each on top of their games until Jason Varitek broke the tie with a solo HR down the RF line to make it 1-0 Boston. The Indians were able to tie the game in the bottom off the 8th when Grady Sizemore beat out a double play with the bases loaded to tie it 1-1. The Indians loaded the bases again in the bottom of the 9th w/ 1 out, but Daniel Bard was able to strike out Asdrubal Cabrera and get Matt LaPorta to pop out to end the inning. The Red Sox had the bases loaded in the top of the 13th but couldn't score as Jensen Lewis escaped the jam. The game was in the top of the 15th inning when Mike Lowell who came on as a defensive replacement turned on a Jensen Lewis fastball and crushed a HR to LF to put Boston ahead 2-1. Jonathan Papelbon came on and blew the save as Grady Sizemore singled and stole second base with 2 outs and then Johny Peralta singled to LF to score Sizemore and tie the game 2-2. The game continues as we got to the 16th inning. Papelbon remained in the game for the 16th inning and retired the side to send the game to the 17th inning. Marco Scutaro tripled w/ 1 out in the 17th but Jacoby Ellsbury lined out to 2B and Dustin Pedroia grounded out to end the inning. The game remained tied thorugh 18 innings as we go the 19th inning. Cleveland finally ends the game against Manny Delcarmen as Matt LaPorta hit a walk off double scoring Lou Marson to give Cleveland the 3-2 win in 19 innings.

The Red Sox are now 31 -28 on the season

      Game #60 of the Season

      Boston(ME) 4 @ Cleveland(CPU) 3

The Red Sox jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. Clevland chipped away and tied it 3-3. The game was 3-3 in the 8th when Dustin Pedroia hit an RBI doub;e to put Boston up 4-3. Hideki Okajima came on in the bottom of the 9th because Papelbon was fatigued from the marathon game the previous day. Cleveland had runners on the corners w/ nobody out but Okajima settled down and got Peralta to pop out to SS and then struck out LaPorta and Crowe to end the game and wiggle out of a huge jam.

            Game #61 of the Season

            Boston(ME) 2 @ Cleveland(CPU) 8

The Red Sox couldn't do much against David Huff who pitched great for Cleveland. The Indians battered around Clay Buchholz and Ramon Ramirez thanks to LaPorta who had a HR and a double and Choo who had 4 hits including 2 doubles and a triple. David Ortiz had a solo HR for Boston.

              Game #62 of the Season

              Boston(ME) 4 @ Cleveland(CPU) 3

The Red Sox take the final game of the series by a score of 4-3. Jon Lester was solid, not spectacular but good enough to get the win. David Ortiz homered for the 2nd straight day and finished a triple shy of the cycle. Jonathan Papelbon came on for the final 4 outs to record the save.

The Red Sox are now 33 -29 on the season and head home for a 3 game interleague series against Philadelphia.

                  Game #63 of the Season

                  Philadelphia(CPU) 7 @ Boston(ME) 2

The pitching matchup was Halladay vs. Lackey and both pitchers had their pitch counts driven up early by base hits and deep counts. The Red Sox took a 2-1 lead into the 5th inning when the wheels fell off - Dustin Pedroia booted a double play ball that would have ended the inning and on the very next play a ground ball took a huge hop over Adrian Beltre's shoulder and Marco Scutaro committed an error later in the inning. The Phillies ended up exploding for 6 runs in the inning to take a 7-2 lead. Placido Polanco had 4 hits and Ryan Howard drove in 3 runs to pace the Philadelphia attack.

The Red Sox are now 33 -30 on the season and are 0-4 this season versus the Phillies.

                    Game #64 of the Season

This was hands down the most exciting game of my season so far

                    Philadelphia(CPU) 4 @ Boston(ME) 5 (11 Innings)

Daisuke Matsuzaka and Cole Hamels both gave their teams very good performances. Ryan Howard got things started with a 2-run HR in the 1st inning to give the Phillies the 2-0 lead. Mike Cameron responded with a 2-run HR in the 3rd inning to make it a 2-2 ball game. The game remained a 2-2 tie into extra innings. Dustin Richardson was called up prior to the game and was pressed into action in the top of the 11th with lefties Chase Utley and Ryan Howard coming up. Utley singled, Richardson then retired Howard and Werth but allowed a single to Raul Ibanez to setup runners at the corners with 2 outs. Terry Francona then turned to Jonathan papelbon to try and get out of the inning - Shane Victorino was able to reach for low and outside 0-2 splitter from Papelbon and bloop a go ahead RBI single into CF for the 3-2 lead and then Papelbon allowed another run scoring single to Gregg Dobbs to give Philadelphia the 4-2 lead. Brad Lidge came on to pitch the bottom of the 11th and try to close it out. Dustin Pedroia led off with a strike out but reached first when the ball got away from the catcher, the next batter was David Ortiz and Ortiz crushed an RBI double to straight away CF that just missed being a HR by inches and made it a 4-3 ball game. Mike Lowell came up next and Lowell swung at a first pitch fastball from Lidge and blasted a 2-run walk off HR to send Fenway Park into a frenzy and give the Red Sox their biggest victory of the season. WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!

The Red Sox are now 34 -30 on the season

Dustin Richardson was recalled from AAA Pawtucket before the game to give Terry Francona a 2nd left hander out of the bullpen. Boof Bonser was sent back to AAA to make room for Richardson.

                      Philadelphia(CPU) 0 @ Boston(ME) 4

Josh Beckett was terrific allowing just 1 run in 7 2/3 innings. Phillies starter J.A. Happ had to leave the game in the 3rd inning with an injury. The Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 3rd on a 2-run HR by Victor Martinez. The Red Sox would add to their lead and take a 4-0 lead into the 8th before the Phillies cut it to 4-1 in the 8th on a Ryan Howard RBI single. Jonathan Papelbonmpitched the 9th to pick up the save

Nice sliders man. I've been using them for about 5 games. One thing I noticed, and it only happened 3 times so far, was a when a deep fly ball was hit, the outfielder sort of stopped and came in a couple of steps and didn't recover and the ball went flying over their head. Where as if they would of just kept running they would of caught it. Have you noticed it? I'm aware this happens in baseball. It just looked odd to me. Thanks again for the sliders and reply.

                            Arizona(CPU) 7 @ Boston(ME) 4

The Diamondbacks offense was locked in as they hit 5 HR's off of Clay Buchholz and Manny Delcarmen as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead entering the 7th inning. The Red Sox got a solo HR from Pedroia in the 7th and were able to get a couple more runs in the 8th to make it a 7-4 game entering the 9th inning. Arizona closer Chad Qualls was borught in to pitch the bottom of the 9th. Adrian Beltre and Mike Cameron each singled to start the inning and bring the tying run to the plate, but Jeremy Hermida struck out and Marco Scutaro hit into a game ending 6-4-3 double play to end it.

                              Game #67 of the Season

                              Arizona(CPU) 3 @ Boston(ME) 4 (12 Innings)

Jon Lester and Dan Haren squared off in a heck of a pitching matchup. Haren pitched better than Lester but neither pitcher factored in the decision. There was a 16mph wind blowing straight in from LF which killed many fly balls to LF that would have either been HR's or reached the green monster on any other day. The Red Sox capitalized on 2 errors by Stephen Drew to start the 3rd inning and took a 2-0 lead on RBI singles by David Ortiz and Victor Martinez. The D-Backs would respond in the 4th inning on a 2-run HR by Adam LaRoche to make it 2-2. Arizona would take a 3-2 lead in the 5th on an RBI double by Mark Reynolds and the game would remain 3-2 all the way to the bottom of the 9th. Chad Qualls came on in the bottom of the 9th looking to close it out and pickup the save. JD Drew led off the inning with a double and Adrian Beltre would drive him home with the game tying RBI single to make it a 3-3 game and send it to extra innings. Hideki Okajima struck out the side(Drew, Reynolds, LaRoche) in the top of the 10th inningand Juan Gutierrez matched him by striking out the side(Ortiz, Youkilis, Martinez) in the bottom of the 10th. The D-Backs would get 2 runners on base w/ 2 outs in the top of the 11th against Okajima which forced Francona to bring in Jonathan Papelbon who struck out Rusty Ryal to end the threat and keep the game tied. Jacoby Ellsbury was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the 12th inning, Dustin Pedroia dropped down a sac bunt to move Ellsbury into scoring position with 1out. The next batter was David Ortiz and after fouling off 3 pitches with 2 strikes, Ortiz lined a walk off base hit into CF as Ellsbury scored with the winning run to give the Red Sox the 4-3 victory. This was an awesome game!!

The Red Sox are now 36-31 on the season
