                            Game #117 of the Season

                            Boston(ME) 3 @ Texas(CPU) 2 (11 Innings)

Josh Hamilton hit a solo HR in the bottom of the 4th to put the Rangers on top 1-0. The score remained 1-0 through 6 innings of play. Josh Beckett and Tommy Hunter went toe to toe on the mound as both pitchers were outstanding. The Red Sox loaded the bases with 1 out in the 7th inning for Jason Varitek and Varitek hit a slow groundball to Kinsler at 2nd base, JD Drew went in hard to the bag and broke up the double play allowing the run to score and tie the game 1-1. The Red Sox would load the bases on 3 straight singles for David Ortiz with nobody out to start the 8th inning and Ortiz would hit a sac fly to CF to give Boston the 2-1 lead. Daniel Bard did his job in the 8th and Jonathan Papelbon would come in for the 9th looking to close it out. Ian Kinsler would reach on a Jed Lowrie error (bobble) to start the 9th. Josh Hamilton was up next and ripped an RBI double to RF to tie the game 2-2. Josh Beckett was furious as Lowrie and Papelbon cost him his 14th victory of the season as Beckett is right in Cy Young race. Papelbon would intentionally walk Vlad Guerrero and then got Nelson Cruz to hit into the 6-4-3 double play, this left the Rangers with a runner on 3rd and 2 outs. Francona called for the intentional walk of Jorge Cantu and the Red Sox would take their chances against Bengie Molina. Papelbon was able to whiff Molina and send the game to extra innings. Kevin Youkilis connected on a solo HR to CF in top of the 11th inning to put the Red Sox up 3-2. Papelbon would stay in for the bottom of the 11th and was able to close it out this time. Papelbon will be unavailable for a few days after throwing 51 pitches.

The Red Sox are now 68-49 on the season

Jason Varitek has been place on the 15 day DL (Hamstring)
Jarrod Saltlamacchia has been called up from AAA Pawtucket

                              Boston(ME) 3 @ Texas(CPU) 2

It was the Jon Lester and Victor Martinez show in Texas. Martinez hit a 2-run HR in the 1st inning and an RBI double in the 3rd inning to provide the offense for Boston. Jon Lester was brilliant on the mound as he pitched into the 9th before running into trouble. Daniel Bard was filling in as closer as Papelbon is unavailable for a few days and he struck out christian Guzman to end the game with runners on 2nd & 3rd.

The Red Sox are now 69-49 on the season
