It may just be me but are you having a hard time striking out the CPU ? I like the sliders but im using Lincecum, Verlander all big k guys and getting 4ks or less after 7 or 8 innings pitched.

I'm getting there......you don't really expect to be mowing guys down instantly do you though?

Keep working on setting guys up and throwing off the edges of the plate to get them to chase.

Pound a few fastballs on there hands and then bring the changeup.

Sliders off the outside corner work.

Throw a few offspeed pitches and then go up high with some gas.

I have a Boston @ Tampa game paused right now and I've done a good job over the first 2 innings of setting guys up w/ Clay Buchholz.

Keep working at it.......did you download the new tweaks I just uploaded to the vault?

Heck of a game. A total of seven runs scored in the first inning! Then we battled back and forth the rest of the game, but I never had the lead once.

Re: TNKNGM MLB10 All-Star Realism Sliders

I can see having realistic global sliders now or almost there. As for user and CPU sliders, that is a ways off; however, not that far off as this game plays better than any other game out of the box.

I don't understand why so many slider posters list every freaking setting they use. Only list the settings that don't deal with pure user preference like batting & fielding cams, runner windows, game tips, batter walkup, etc. List the stuff that effects the on field play like the hitting & pitching difficulty, guess pitch, pitcher confidence, pitching interface, and that might be everything thing that actually effects the game.

Re: TNKNGM MLB10 All-Star Realism Sliders

First off, I am horrible at this game. I am a 360 2k transport. I played The Show '09 for about a month (horrible at that game too). I played about 10 games of '10 with the default sliders (I didn't change anything but presentation settings). I was getting killed by 10 runs almost every game. My starters would give up at least 6 in the first 3 or so innings.

I then put pitching on rookie and changed some sliders to make it easier for me. I was still letting up about 8 runs a game. Started to get frustrated. Thought I would give these a try. I was worried about the All-Star settings.

These were actually easier for me.

Played a game as Boston against New York. Still lost 5-1 but it wasn't like they scored all 5 runs in one inning. I let up a run in the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th. It didn't feel like I was getting walloped.

                  BOS(me) vs. NYY(CPU)

                  1 run/6 hits/0 errors 5 runs/14 hits/0 errors

Beckett went 6 innings gave up 9 hits 3 runs with 5 K's.
Sabathia went 9 innings gave up 6 hits 1 run with 11 K's.

It still is hard for me to walk guys and take walks. But that might be because I have to get used to the game. I always throw what/where the catcher tells me to.

It was hard to take walks because Sabathia threw so many 1st pitch strikes.

Overall a good game experience that I wasn't frustrated with. Good job and I will be looking forward to your tweaks.

Just out of curiosity, why do so many people not like the hot zones option? Doesn't that add to the realism of the game by improving a hitter's ability in zones he swings well in (and vice versa)?

Hot Zones only turns on and off the display of the hot zones, not the functionality of it....the hot zones of the hitter still exist, we just don't like things cluttering the display and our view....

yep. I will NOT look at a players HC zones at all during the game. I'll scout the team beforehand and may jot down some notes but will never look at it in game during a game.

i take a look at the HnC zones once as each batter comes up to the plate.....and then that is it for the game. consider it a crash scouting technique.

You can literally just make up sliders and adjust them randomly, and still see "perfect" statistical games and chalk them up to the slider tweaks. Unfortunately baseball is a game of high variance and you need large sample sizes. Even in real life, a player (or team) can have a torrid month or even two months, while be below average for the remainder of the season.

Just last year, there were 40 different sets with all kinds of sliders varying from -10 to +10 adjustments. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

With being able to adjust difficulty settings separately between hitting and pitching, i think it will help A LOT of people.

My suggestion for this thread, we can start tweaking GLOBAL sliders, and tweak things that may seem obvious from a global standpoint (like, are outfielders too fast? their arms too strong?), rather than individual skill dependent tweaks that vary from user to user.

From there, maybe start tweaking things such as Fouls etc.

I agree wit this 100%, it's all in the eyes of the beholder. There are tons and tons and tons of slider sets out there, all claiming "realistic" or "perfect". Some are good, some are bad, it all depends on the user and his playing style. Instead of having 23243 different sliders on here, we need to get a global set going and tweak as needed.

Downloaded sliders from sports connect and just used for the 1st time. Very very good and fun game. Texas (me) vs Yankees. At Yankee Stadium (day game).

                                Texas: 1 Run 4 Hits 0 Errors
                                Yankees: 2 Runs 6 Hits 1 Error

Kinsler drove in only run with a homerun in the 1st.

Arod tied it in the second with a bomb of his own.

Teixeira then hit a blast to right in the bottom of the 7th. This would be the game winner.

All in all good pitching performance on my side. Painted corners mixed pitches. Maybe should have gone to pen but Feldman was pitching well. Tried fastball up and in but didnt get it in enough so Teixeira parked it in right.

Offense side I need to be more patient. I work the count at times but mostly hacking away. Im getting better.

2 outs in bottom of the 9th Josh hamilton worked count to 2 and 2. I fouled off about 5 or 6 in a row but hey Mariano is Mariano!!

I will play again with these and see how that goes
