Re: MLB 10: CPU v CPU sliders
Mine are pretty much the same as I posted last week. Once I discovered the steal ability slider worked in the opposite way to which it should all my problems were solved.
Everything at default (5) except:
CPU
Solid Hits: 4
Pitcher Consistency: 6
GLOBAL
Fielding Errors: 8
Throwing Errors: 8
Fielder Reaction: 10
Baserunner Steal Ability: 1
Baserunner Steal Frequency: 10
These sliders have produced the following numbers over a 31 game period:
Per team per game averages (2009 MLB in brackets)
Runs 4.60 (4.61)
Hits 9.43 (8.96)
Doubles 1.42 (1.80)
Triples 0.17 (0.20)
Homeruns 1.08 (1.04)
Walks 3.35 (3.42)
Strikeouts 7.07 (6.91)
HBP 0.45 (0.33)
WP 0.43 (0.33)
Errors 0.53 (0.59)
GIDP 1.07 (0.93)
There are still a few too many singles but ramping up the fielder reaction slider and reducing the solid hits slider by one has toned it down enough to make the runs per game number almost spot on.
The league batting average over the 31 games has been .271, about ten points higher than the 2009 MLB average but the slugging percentage is dead in line with reality. I could take solid hits down to 3 to get the batting average lower but that would also suppress extra base hits and consequently bring the run scoring down too much.
I've omitted the SB numbers here because I've had that slider zeroed out and hardly anyone has been caught stealing. Hopefully raising that slider to 1 will give a balance but it may need to go a little higher.
The only other possible future change would be to raise errors back to 9. I've found that at 8 there are not quite enough errors and at 9 there are a few too many. However, since outfield errors are so rare in The Show, I've decided to stick at 8 to avoid infielders racking up an unrealistic amount of miscues.Comment

Re: MLB 10: CPU v CPU sliders
Hey DaiYoung,
So you left the HUM sliders all at default and playing on All Star?
Also, since we are just managing the game, aren't the only sliders we need to worry about, the CPU sliders? Wasn't there something last year where they said only the CPU sliders were affected in CPU managed games?
Or if a MOD knows this answer because I don't think MLB 09 threads still exist on this subject...
Thanks.Comment

Re: MLB 10: CPU v CPU sliders
I'm quite sure that is the case, Steven. There is no human interaction therefore the human sliders are irrelevant. For what it's worth I'm on All Star although I don't think that makes any difference to cpu-cpu contests either.
I haven't tried these in Manager Mode btw, only cpu-cpu games.Comment

Re: MLB 10: CPU v CPU sliders
Variety of games is not an issue as far as I can tell, kingdevin. I've seen major blow outs, minor blow outs, big comebacks, extra innings games, pitcher duels, everything.
I'm playing through every game of the season. The scores from the most recent 20 games in the franchise:

Re: MLB 10: CPU v CPU sliders
Hey DaiYoung - thanks for posting your sliders. I tweaked them a bit to my own liking and had a really nice game with them last night...I'm wondering whether you set API on or off? I know most say it's a personal preference but just curious how you have yours set up. Thanks for any reply.Comment

Re: MLB 10: CPU v CPU sliders
BTW the best CPU v CPU is PYS. You have to try it if u like the Show!! No sliders needed!!!Comment

Re: MLB 10: CPU v CPU sliders
brak - I have API at Default. I haven't messed with it at all but I would guess it wouldn't make a difference to CPU v CPU games.
kingdevin - Strictly CPU-CPU. I do set the line-ups but then just let it play out. I don't have time to micro manage, I work from home and just leave the games running whilst I work.
PYS looks very interesting, I'll definitely be buying it this year.Comment

Re: MLB 10: CPU v CPU sliders
I've tinkering with the game for over a week now and watched a high number of test matchups from franchise mode. Sliders will always be subjective to how each person likes to see the game performing - here is a base of cpu v cpu sliders that I've been working on that you can use as a starting point for your own or just use fully.
I'm getting a high amount of variable games - by this I mean I'm seeing high scoring games and low scoring games...pitching duels, slugfests and teams just crushing others - so I'm more than happy with this.
I'm sure there will be some that won't agree with how these play out, but give them a go if you're into cpu v cpu - all comments and suggestions are welcome as with the beauty of sliders we can always tweak them further if things are noticeable.
I have everything runinng on all-star, with user and cpu both having the same settings.
SLIDERS (All Sliders are based on 0-10 value)
CPU
Contact: 3
Power: 5
Timing: 3
Fouls: 5
Solid Hits: 1
Starter Stamina: 6
Reliever Stamina: 5
Pitcher Control: 5
Pitcher Consistency: 6
Strike Frequency: 5
Manager Hook: 5
Pickoffs: 5
GLOBAL
Pitch Speed: 10
Fielding Errors: 6
Throwing Errors: 5
Fielder Run Speed: 1
Fielder Reaction: 10
Fielder Arm Strength: 5
Baserunner Speed: 5
Baserunner Steal Ability: 5
Baserunner Steal Frequency: 8
Wind: 5
Injury Frequency: 5
As I say this is what I'm working with at the moment and these aren't set in stone, although they have been producing good results. Suggestions welcome and I'd be interested to hear any stats etc either using these or following your own tweaks.
