Looking for some advice on Pitcher Consistency slider..

I think I have enough games under my belt now to start determining some trends that are not just streaks happening at a particular time. One of the things I'm noticing is far too many wild pitches, passed balls, and hit batters. When I look at the Pitcher Consistency slider it indicates that moving it to the right will lessen those things. At the same time I don't want it so that the pitchers never miss their spots.

I have the slider at 4 now for me and CPU. My control is set at 4 as is the CPU's. CPU strike frequency is at 3. I like how the sliders are playing out. The only issue has been the wild pitches, PB's, and hit batters.

Has anyone experimented with cranking the slider up to say, 7 or 8? If so, how has it effected pitches. Are you and the CPU less likely to throw balls this way? Or does it pretty much just lessen the above mentioned issues?

Pitcher consistency is pretty much your only pitcher control slider; pitch control just increases/decreases meatballs. Raising pitcher consistency pretty much increases the chance of the pitch going in the area will the pitcher wants it and decreases the chances of the pitch missing by a lot.

i have it at 7 and it is really good... bad pitchers will still throw wild pitches and bean batters... good/great pitchers will do this but it is much more rare... not the 3-5 wild pitches i was getting on default

Nope, I have CPU pitcher consistency and pitch control at 7, strike frequency at default. I fiddled with strike frequency and I found lowering it gives you "fake" balls in my opinion, pitches way out of the zone that it felt obvious the pitcher was missing basically on purpose.

interesting, im playing atm on legend with picth contro and cosistency at default and strike frequency at -4, i get 3-4 walks a game, do u think i would be getting that with the frequency at default?

I have it at 9 and still walk 2-3 batters a game, sometimes 4plus, and once I walked 6 in a game. But, again, I am Tom Glavine stubborn and don't give in.

I miss my spots on a regular basis (which I love) and have had balls that I meant to be out of the zone drift over the middle of the plate.

I may even move it to 10 before its over. I'm still throwing wild pitches (which I love) when I mess with pitches that break down and I start them low to begin with. But, thats what SHOULD happen. We can't expect to throw worm burners and not pay for it.

I'm the opposite. I have CPU pitching sliders at ZERO and love it. They throw too many strikes otherwise.

Yes, I sometimes feel like I'm seeing artificial balls way out of the zone, but that's important for me to help drive the cpu pitch count up. I don't mind the fact that I get a break every once in awhile and its easy to tell a ball is a ball. Otherwise, it takes, literally, superhuman concentration (which gives me a headache) on every single pitch to determine balls and strikes.

When I played, I only had to concentrate like that 4 or 5 times a game, and even then, I had an inning or two between at bats to mentally relax. Since we are controlling every single at bat, there is no such break.

I love it at ZERO and am still not seeing it damage the cpu at all. Pitchers still make me work for it and aces are still aces. I can draw walks now but not unrealistically, maybe 2 a game, sometimes 2plus.

Not even close to true in my experience. Strike Frequency at 0 and Consistency at 3 is the only way to go for me. Gives a good natural flow and it's changed the game for me. Lot more realistic in terms of pitch counts, balls/k ratio, walks etc.

I got at least 3 walks my last game because one player had 2 walks and I know I got at least one more walk that game.

Also, there's something with pitch control. When I had pitch control at 5 and pitcher consistency at 7, pitchers were too accurate. I turn up pitch control to 7 and it just works.

I found out last year that with higher picth control picthers will aim alot more on the corners, thus missing more, that will help walks if u have a good eye, since they wont miss by much.

I knew someone came up with this theory last year but I couldn't remember what the final settings they used were, and I remember them working really well for drawing walks.
