Yes everything at 5. I just started it out on default. I will post my user settings later but those are pretty default as well. Just got 1 hit by Chacin of the Rockies. Guy throws 95 with a 76 mph changeup. He had a no no through the 7th and 8th with one out but Castro got a hit.

Re: HOF "the right way"
Amazing stats!
A few more questions:
1. Why meter pitching versus analog pitching? When I use analog pitching with API, my ERA is about 3.25 and my WHIP is about 1.15. All Star Analog pitching without API, my ERA is about 5.50 and my WHIP is about 1.55. I can't seem to get my average pitching staff to hover around that 4.00 ERA mark. Also, my team ranked #1 in power and #18 in contact, yet I finished 4th in AVG at seasons end. Finished 3rd in HRs; Im happy with that. This is All Star all hitting sliders normal except contact is 4 and Power is 3.
2. Speaking of API, can you post your gameplay settings?
3. What rosters do you use? Do you edit pitchers with 79mph changeups and 95mph fastballs?Originally posted by banned memberMy [RTTS] goals are to improve my bunting and drag bunting. You stupid !@#$, I'm almost leading the league in bombs; !@#$ you!Comment

Re: HOF "the right way"
Good looking stats authentic. Aside from some of the global sliders, this year's game plays very well on default HOF. Other than power, I have most everything else either right at, or very close to default.
That fastball/changeup combo from Chacin is brutal... and it's actually pretty unrealistic. That kind of velocity difference with the fastball and changeup is pretty rare in real life, but unfortunately, SCEA didn't get velocities quite right for everyone. If I ever encounter a pitcher like this, I make sure to check his pitch f/x data before I continue with the game.
Chacin is a perfect example of this issue. In real life, his change is actually around 82-84mph, and his fastball averages out at 91mph. That's much more hittable than what you were dealing with. I play with 30 team control, so if I encounter a guy like Chacin, I'll back out of the game and edit his pitch speed a little closer to real life.Last edited by Jgainsey; 05-28-2011, 08:53 PM.Now, more than everComment

I use the pitch edits and OSFM. I will post my settings a little later. I am about to play the rubber match against the Rockies and I'll post a box score of it.Comment

Re: HOF "the right way"
Bats have gone silent. Rockies swept me and I dropped to 11-13, much like real like Cubs baseball. My average is down to .240. I really think this is a cold spell because I am hitting balls right at people hard. Hopefully I can turn this around. A question for some people, Fukudome is hitting .170 and Castro is hovering at .200. Any advice on what to do with these two players? Mostly Castro.Comment

Re: HOF "the right way"
Do you have pitch speed at 5 as well? I use pretty much HOF default, timing hitting and currently have pitch speed at 4. However, I'm ALWAYS late on fastballs (even when I'm sitting on them), so thinking I need to lower pitch speed to 3. My number of hits/game are okay, just think my reactions are too slow to pull fastballs. Guys like A-Rod and Teixeira shouldn't be late on 92 mph fastballs. And I strike out an average of 10 times/game.
What impact would lowering pitch speed to 3 have on my 48-year old eyes?? I don't really need to increase hit totals, but would like to reduce strikeouts and be able to pull fastballs.Comment

Re: HOF "the right way"
I'm not sure. I use 5 for everything but I have used 4 in previous slider sets before this franchise. Do whatever works for you I just am trying to make the adjustments like real life to get the job done. It is very frustrating right now but my pitching has really bailed me out the last 5 games. I could have been embarrassed in 4 of the 5 but my pitching made it close. I lost 4 of 5 and won my last game. One more versus Arizona and then to LA. God this west roadtrip is getting the best of me and my Cubs.Comment

Re: HOF "the right way"
So did you make any global slider changes?
I'm most curious about Fielder Speed/Reaction and if that is at Default.....since it seems to be a slider that gets moved all over the place and I really don't have a grasp at what works best.
Also Wind - seems to get downgraded so wondering if that was at Default.Comment

Re: HOF "the right way"
Optioned Castro to AAA Iowa to get more at bats with his struggling bat. Purchased the contract of Scott Moore who has a hot bat currently. Send down Russell and called up Maine and also released Ojeda and put Reggie Golden on the single A roster. Got killed by the D-backs 15-2 which has me really panicking.Comment
