Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

BOSTON RED SOX (ME) @ TAMPA BAY RAYS (CPU)

    * This game was played using the latest sliders that were updated last nigh to the vault. I used ZONE HITTING for this game and wass very happy with the feel and results

Josh Beckett escaped danger in the bottom of the 1st after Crawford dropped a routine fly ball by Desmond Jennings to lead off the inning, but Beckett got out of the jam stranding runners at 2nd & 3rd. The Red Sox got to James Shields in the top of the 4th on a 2-run double by Cody Ross to give Boston a 2-0 lead. The Sox made it 3-0 in the top of the 5th on an RBI single by Adrian Gonzalez. Carlos Pena got Tampa Bay on the board as he led off the top of the 7th with a solo HR to CF to cut the score to 3-1. Josh Beckett was outstanding in this game and he finished his night by inducing Desmond Jennings to ground into a 4-6-3 double play to end the bottom of the 8th and send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 3-1. The Red Sox added some insurance in the top of the 9th when Mike Aviles laced a double into the gap in left center that scored Darnell McDonald who pinch ran for Cody Ross. The Sox went to their closer Andrew Bailey with a 4-1 lead for the bottom of the 9th and Bailey closed it out with a 1-2-3 9th inning for the save.

    * In 6 innings of work James Shields threw 85 pitches (63% for strikes)
    * In 8 innings of work Josh Beckett threw 96 pitches (67% for strikes)

    * Beckett's stuff was absolutely filthy in this game, hands down my best pitching performance so far with this game

Played another last night... White Sox (me) vs. O's... Peavy vs. Hammel

I won 3-0... I was being no hit by Hammel until the 5th when Dunn hit a no-doubt 395 ft shot to right field... Alexei Ramirez hit a 403 ft shot in the 8th to make it 2-0... Then back to back doubles by Pierzynski and Rios made it 3-0.

      Peavy was dominate... Here is his line... CG/5 H/1 BB/6 K... 111 pitches 73%

      Hammel's line... 6.1 IP/3 H/1 ER/1 BB/5 K... 94 pitches 67%

I had 3 doubles and 2 HR's in the game... I really liked seeing that... The only thing I didn't like was I threw my second straight shutout... I'm gonna pitch with a 4 or 5 this weekend to see what happens.

TNK & Royale... Any thoughts about me pitching back to back shutouts? I know it's possible to do in real life but just wanted to see what you guys think.

I'm looking into a couple adjustments......keep playing with these sliders right now and give us more results

Play a few games using #5 starters and see how it goes

These sliders are not final - we still have some fine tuning to do

I've played 5 spring training games with the A's and so far I've enjoyed the sliders...even if I am 0-5

All of my runs have been off home runs and the CPU has conveniently had my fielders make errors. Last night was tied going into the 8th, brought in Balfour. CPU hits seeing eye single and then, inexplicably, they hit a routine pop fly to short right that Weeks never got under. I tried moving him under the ball and it wouldn't go. They turned it into a triple and won by one run. I've had weird things like that happen a couple times but this one really ticked me off. Don't think its a slider issue but I'm not for sure.

Has anyone tried these sliders on veteran? I'm not that great at The Show and I'm planning to start at this level. Just curious if anyone has tried it and if you would recommend any changes to the sliders (ie pitch cons, strike freq, etc.). Thanks!!

                Thats not a slider issue

Try batting using ZONE HITTING - that seems to have produced more runs via hits than HR for me

When using TIMING I was getting more runs via the HR than by hits

I'm really suprised to see so many low scoring games here. The reason I say that is because on AS Default, I've already won a game 11-0 and on AS Default (minus Consistency 4 this time) lost 10-6.

Literally one of our only applicable differences is in the Solid Hits Slider.

I use Timing and Pulse, btw. But that shouldn't make an enormous difference. Could Solid Hits at Default be the key?

I think Solid Hits needs to be reduced to 3 to create more choppers, bloops, seeing eye hits, etc.

Solid Hits at 5 was producing too many smoked grounders, line drive rockets, etc.

Try playing a few games with Solid Hits reduced to 3 and play on Zone Hitting - sone has produced a much better variety for me than timing has

TNK are you moving the pci on zone hitting or leaving it in the middle? I know you experimented with this last year too and determined timing was the way to go

I play with that PCI graphic turned off, stike zone off, etc.......but I aim my swing where I want the bat to go

Yes, you move it. This is part of what makes zone hitting so extreme. It also creates a great variety of hits based on where you have the PCI at contact. Just watch the summary box of computer swings. You will see that PCI moves all over the zone. It's extremely frustrating to learn but totally rewarding once you nail it (at least occassionally)

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

Just played my first game with these sliders and I must say just after one game, they feel pretty darn good. I'm currently trying to find a slider set to use in my franchise once OSFM comes out and I decided to try these.

I played a game between Toronto(Me)@Tampa Bay(CPU). Ricky Romero vs David Price. I lost the game 3-0. I probably should have had a run or two, but I made a couple of mistakes (pressing the wrong button on the controller mistakes) that kept me off the scoreboard.

Overall, I really like the feel of these, but I did change just one thing...I lowered CPU Foul Frequency down a click to 3. I was seeing WAY too many foul balls from the CPU on any count, but especially with 2 strikes. I saw 37 foul balls off the CPU bats in the game total. 27 of those were in the first 4 innings (before I lowered Foul Frequency) and the other 10 were after I lowered it. Another contributing factor to me turning Foul Frequency down, was that Romero, who only issued 1 BB in 6 innings of work, had 96 pitches through 4 innings (finished with 119 total). To be fair though, he did have 9 K's in the game, 6 of which were in the first 4 innings.

                                Here are the pitching numbers:

                                Romero: 6IP, 119 pitches (72%), 8H, 2ER, 1BB, 9K
                                Price: CG, 107 pitches (62%), 6H, 0ER, 1BB, 5K

*Romero's 72% strike ratio was beefed up because of the foul balls that were hit by the CPU on pitches that would have been balls had they not been fouled. He probably realistically was in the 67-69% range.

                                And some notable hitting stats:

                                TOR:
                                Escobar: 1-3, BB
                                Lind: 2-3, 2 2B
                                Rasmus: 1-3, 2B, K

                                TB:
                                Jennings: 3-4, 2 2B, HR, RBI
                                Upton: 1-4, R, RBI, 2K
                                Longoria: 0-3, BB, K

I know it's just 1 game, but overall I really like these. I'll be sure to get some more games in with them and report back with some stats.
