Re: TNK - 2013 REALISM SLIDERS

Wow. What a game. CC and Jared Weaver were in a major pitchers duel, 0-0 headin into the bottom of the 9th. Youkilis strikes out. Hafner walks, I bring in Nunez to pinch run. Juan Rivera steps up and promply deposits one just over the left field wall for the walk off win!

The Angels had 6 hits, I had 5

    I stuck out 6 times, them 7

    I walked 3 times to their 2

1HR for me and a double for them

    Stolen base for Callapso (Angels)

    They had 2 errors

My strike% was 65, the angela was 59.

My experiment with Pitch Control at 2 didn't pan out the way I wanted. First pitch strike percentage in the low to mid 60% and overall in the high 60%. I'm pretty frustrated. Maybe it IS a Strike Frequency issue. I might try 4, 3, 1 and see how that works out. Call me obsessive, but this is a game killer for me. If tweaking the strike frequency slider doesn't fix this, it's something that desperately needs to be patched. I'm tired of seeing nothing but 0-2 and 1-2 counts....

me either actually, I used to if it was on a easier mode of the strike Freq was on default but not now it varies

Re: TNK - 2013 REALISM SLIDERS

Played my first game with these sliders against the Mariners and King Felix. I didn't get my first hit until the 7th inning, but was able to scratch out a run in the 4th with a walk, two wild pitches and a weak grounder. Made a little bit of a game of it in the 7th with 5 singles (and a double play mixed in) to score 2 and make it 4-3. But that's as close as I would get. I was able to draw 3 walks but was unable to get any extra base hits. I don't think my lack of offense is because of the slider set, I think it's because of my lack of patience at the plate. I'll keep trying and see how I do.

My gripe isn't with the OVERALL strike percentage. It's with the first pitch strike percentage. MLB average is about 58% first pitch strikes. I'd be happy with something in the low to mid 60's at this point, because the CPU is consistently throwing in the high 60's or 70's even with strike frequency at 1. The only thing that lowering the strike frequency slider seems to do is affect the overall strike percentages. Yes, you will see more balls thrown, but it doesn't seem to affect first pitch strike percentages at all. I just played a game with 3,3,1, and the CPU still threw 70% first pitch strikes (which is high), but only threw 60% OVERALL strikes, which is relatively low.

Accurate strike percentages are my obsession, because they affect so many other aspects of gameplay.

Call time (Down on the D-Pad) once the cpu pitcher chooses his first pitch of every inning. No one knows why this is a workaround but it is, your problem is now solved.

I'm using meter pitching on Legend, but have moved control and consistency to 0 and I still can't walk any CPU batters....I'm averaging barely around 1.5 walked batters a game. Don't know what to do. Meter is the only style of pitching I like due to user input.

Swing. When you swing at the first pitch strikes the percentage plummets to acceptable levels rather quickly, at least in exhibition mode. I've yet to play RTTS.

I think this is the case too. I like to take the 1st pitch with most hitters and if a pitcher is throwing mostly 1st pitch strikes....I start to swing at some. I have found that the pitcher then starts to throw more 1st pitch balls out of the zone. Give him a reason not to throw a 1st pitch strike and he likely will throw fewer.

There is a huge thread about first pitch "meatballs" here:
                        http://www.operationsports.com/forum...balls-bug.html

Some people seem to experience, some not. Apparently calling time before the first pitch helps to solve the issue (if there is one).

I am really enjoying the sliders because I have played in 2 1-0 games a 5-1 game and a 6-0 game.

and sometimes I just couldn't hit and other times the CPU couldn't hit, I think this just has it about right, hitting is more difficult but I think that's just me not timing right maybe I should turn the timing slider up

Got my 1st win using these sliders in the 4th game I have played using them. Cole Hamels was dealing throughout the whole game minus a solo home run given up in the 2nd inning. 9 strikeouts for Hamels too. Was a good game.

I think you are just taking too often on the first pitch. The game will start trying to get you to chase if you swing at all of them and paint if you swing just enough. When they are trying to paint, well, they'll miss more often. This and RTTS changes where AA is a difficulty level lower are the only reasons for that meatball BS discrediting this site right now.

Had a battle with the World Champs. Should of won 2-0 actually, but screw up when I was hitting. Started the game with a triple. Hit a slow roller to second. Tried to score, which Choo would of, but he somehow just sat there for a second before actually taking off. Another time with the double to lead off with Frazier I bunted him over to third. Tried to score of a sac, and apparently was too late to run or just a really good throw cause it seemed as I should of easily scored. While it was a good game, just couldn't get my bats going after the first hits of the innings.

Enjoying the sliders TNK! Going to play another game against the Yankee's to see how I do in a little DH action.
