    Re: justmunc's Fictional Roster

Im currently in the Championship series with the A's, and the Brewers were the best team in the NL for most of the year, even with their average ratings. The trades the teams make really show who wanted to be a contender by August. When I get done with the season, I'll give a report to show how close my projections were.

PS: Thank you for the kind words, I really was excited to finally release this after months of work, and so far it definitely has not disappointed, IMO.

No problem, I'm certainly glad to have been able to have a fictional roster
and I'll be looking forward to your end of the season report!
I'm 1-3 now and having a hard time getting some runs and my bullpen has been terrible in the late innings. Could very well be me tho, as it's been awhile since I played so I gotta get back in the saddle!

I certainly like the variety of ratings and the draft (team rosters) certainly seemed to have turned out good also!

        Re: justmunc's Fictional Roster

Really wanted to send out a big thanks for these rosters. The fact that we can easily move our franchise over to MLB 15 is going to be huge. I have a feeling I'm going to be using this roster for years to come.

I'm not the best player so I chose the Marlins to start off with. They were ranked first but I know that doesn't always mean they are the best when the games play out.

We are 4-1 so far but all of the games have been really close. Surprisingly, the first 3 wins of the season were walk off wins over the Rockies. Crazy stuff.

I'm hoping speedy centerfielder Aaron Whitting and pitcher Greg Miranda(clearly based on on Hall of Famer Greg Maddux) lead me to the promised land.

Yeah as most of you can tell, there are a lot of player look-a-likes as well as players who minor resemblances to current players. Easy call on Greg Miranda and I'm pretty sure Aaron Whitting is based off of Jacoby Ellsbury, but not 100% certain.

Played quite a few games with the Marlins over the weekend. Sitting at a very average 11-12 and in the midst of a 4 game losing streak.

Leadoff guy Whitting has been terrific but other than that it's slim pickings. Can't find any offense in the middle of the lineup. Plus the starting pitching past the ace Miranda is not impressive. Luckily the NL East doesn't look that strong so no one is running away yet.

Hoping to get this season done before the new game drops. Hoping to not sim many games, if any. Having lots of fun despite the mediocre results.

              Re: justmunc's Fictional Roster

Well I was going to post all the results from my first season, but I got so caught up in the game that I forgot to record all the season stats and awards.

I played on a 1 game on (quick count) and 3 games off so I could play most of the games. I used the TNK sliders so all of my games were usually under 12 total runs as well as pretty close. I won more than I lost, but some of those losses were real heart breakers. I did play on series through (Giants 4 games) and won 3-1 like in real life. I also played every game in the playoffs and got bounced by the eventual World Series Champions, Blue Jays, 3-2.

For the first few months my team was very mediocre yet we had the division lead with a very good Houston team behind us. Due to the sliders, my team had sub-par averages besides a few outliers, including Justin Munson (based off myself) It wasn't until the summer months when the starting pitching came alive! I originally lost my #3 starter for the season and had to call up one of my top prospects (Addison Simpson) who didn't perform too well at first, but soon became my 2nd best pitcher behind a very hot Ike Speire. Bats still struggled throughout the season and I couldn't auction off any of my struggling hitters (3B Sean Freeman, LF Mike Foster) so I had to do a little platoon work, which did pretty well. We stayed at the top of the division the whole year and at one time had an 8 game lead over Houston, but we did not fair too well in division play, especially against Seattle (I think I went 1-3).

Playoff time came and we were 2nd seed behind Toronto and ahead of Chicago, in which we played. I lost the first game but won out the next three. Toronto destroyed the wild card team and held home field advantage over us. On the NL side, an unlikely pairing between Cincinnati and San Diego was taking place. Once again we lost the first game due to the lack of run support and a misplayed ball by CF Kelly Skinner. We were able to win the next two with the help of the long ball from the middle of the lineup, but were beaten the same way the next two games to end our season. San Diego was able to fend off a Cincinnati comeback and face the Blue Jays for the World Series. As said before, the Blue Jays were clearly the better team and took the series in just 5 games.

I'm currently in the 2015 Spring Training, working out some roster moves to accommodate my overachieving prospects. The salary cap was not too much of an issue this year, but once those contracts expire for the big guns, teams with higher caps will be able to take in more talent while teams like the A's will fiddle around with prospects and under the radar players (similar to real life).

                  Re: justmunc's Fictional Roster

I'm a little further along with my Marlins franchise. We are 35-23 and 2.5 up on the Nationals in the NL East. Getting ready to play Tampa Bay in 4 games.

I might need to tweak my sliders because the games I'm playing are a little too defensive minded than the other league games I am simming. We are first in the majors in ERA but only around 20th in batting average.

Centerfielder Aaron Whitting is still my best player. Leads the league in SBs and was around the lead in batting average for a while. A recent cold spell has dropped him back to .306.

The team could definitely use more power in the middle of the lineup. Might make a trade later to work on that. The catcher position has been an issue with both guys hitting below .200.

In the other races, the Yankees and Red Sox are tied in the AL East but it sounds like they need to watch out for the Blue Jays according to justmunc's report above.

Detroit has a healthy lead in the AL Central as all other teams have losing records.

The AL West is anybody's race as all teams are contending.

Cincinnati and Arizona lead the other NL divisions.

                    Re: justmunc's Fictional Roster

I just started a "fantasy draft" franchise with these rosters and I'm excited about it. For the most part, I put a focus on pitching and young guys with high potential because I want to build from my farm system. Although I grabbed the biggest, baddest bat I could get with my first pick in order to have at least one basher in my Texas lineup.

I'm only in spring training right now, and decided I want to go ahead and play some of the spring games because I'm unfamiliar with the players. I'm digging what I've seen so far.

I think I'm going to play a full game on Opening Day without quick counts. After that, I'm still deciding how to get the most "bang for my buck" but I think I'm going to either play a full game with quick counts once each series and then one game of offense-only without quick counts each series. At that rate, I should get a game or two in each night after work while the family sleeps.

I am midway through the 2014 season with the Phillies (I did fantasy draft to start my franchise). I am in 1st place with Braves and Mets 2 games back. These rosters play extremely well and really adds so much to this game. Best fictional rosters that I have ever used!
Really looking forward to transferring these over to MLB 2015.

Also, question about players retiring, leaving at the end of the season. Is there a way to tell who the cpu generated players are when you start the next season? I want to edit or replace all of the new computer generated players at the start of the next season.
I am asking because I would like to re-use the players that leave in the previous year. So if a player leaves, I want to find that player in the original roster file and copy him back into my existing franchise, except I will change there name, attributes, accessories (can I even do that?).

I'm currently on my 2nd season and sadly it is very difficult to find the new players and it is not possible to re-generate the same retired players. I found that the only ones to retire in the first year are the ones stuck in free agency as well as incoming free agents with a D or less potential. I'm personally playing it by sight, so when I see an obvious CPU generated player, I'll remember the name and edit as I go.

PS Thank you for the kind words on the roster!

This is beyond awesome. I'm between seasons in my franchise, and wanted to start the new one on 15. So I needed something to do in the meantime. You know, besides being productive or being a good husband.
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

These rosters play very well did what formula did you use for the ratings example Sean Jeezy pitch edits, or Hybrid ratings and purge them onto these or your own personal recipe... Cause this roster is great.

I actually just kind of winged the ratings. I didn't use any formulas but I tried to base most of the ratings off of the real players.

I think you did a fabulous job. I like that the ratings are more in line with what you see from an initial SCEA roster. The only things I've changed a bit is I wanted a little more difference between batter's splits. Plus I wanted a little more power for some of the middle infielders. A lot of the guys seemed really low power or more like infielders you'd see from the mid 80s.

Those are just my personal preferences. I would love to do one of thse rosters my own one day, but I don't have the time or the patience. Thanks again.
