Yeah it raised an eyebrow for sure. I can imagine that arm strength and accuracy are almost impossible to rate based on statistics. What is your take on the bunting? I think this is another area that is really difficult to determine.

A lot of ratings geniuses, leaves fielding, arm strength and bunting alone. The usually just go with SCEA default ratings. Sean jeezy did a fielding and speed rating spreadsheets a couple of years back. Also you can use fangraph and the fielding bible. Sean used those reference and others. I got the TOOL working and all I can say is WOW.Comment

Yeah bunting is based on sacrafice hits and is a loose statistic. Just did the best I could with it.PSN: Grits_N_Gravy_23Comment

Re: What if I told you... that Roster Tools is BACK!
There is one of two things needs to be in there!! A Search box for the players and teams for the pitchers type attributes with the Speed, Control and Break!! Bahoze had that in there!! But he was using Baseball-Reference.com!! But over all it is not bad at all for some stuff to use!!Comment

Re: What if I told you... that Roster Tools is BACK!
For instance, if I had 2011 Matt Kemp pulled up, and 2013 Clayton Kershaw, it would give me batting stats for Kershaw, but in 2011.
Or lets say I have 1961 Roger Maris selected and 2011 Kershaw. The program would error out because Kershaw doesn't exist.
Plus, with the way dropdowns work, it just wouldn't function properly at all.
As far as a search function, the best available option is already in the program and thats to sort names.
I'll tinker with it and see what a search option would do and how it would behave with the coding.
To understand the program, you have to know how the backend of it works. All this data isn't magically stored in the sheet. It's pulling directly from the internet. So lets say you have the 1998 season selected, it loads that data into the sheet. Now you want 1994 season data. When you change the year, it deletes all 1998's data and replaces it with 1994's.
So even if I added a search, it won't let you choose what year you want. It will just return the data for the year you have chosen in the dropdown.PSN: Grits_N_Gravy_23Comment

Re: What if I told you... that Roster Tools is BACK!
Right exactly. I knew it wasn't really possible due to the back end data. But I was just saying it would have been a cool thing to have. In either case it is a top notch job on this utility.Comment

Re: What if I told you... that Roster Tools is BACK!
Loving this program but I have a question. I successfully used for many players so the program is working for me.
My issue is, for example, when I try to pull up Tommy Davis from the '62 Dodgers. He pulls up fine but when I go to his player's card with yearly stats it is showing a Tommy Davis that was a catcher for the Orioles.
There are probably a lot of same-name players, so what is the work-around for this.
Thanks again for a great program.

Re: What if I told you... that Roster Tools is BACK!
I did notice one small little bug. I know the data gets pulled from the web but when I pulled up Carlos Maldonado from 2006,2007, 2010 and 2012 (http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...aldoca03.shtml) Every time it came up saying he was a switch hitter. He only bats right. I have tried to replicate this with other players but he is the only one form the Pirates circa 2008 that I have found a mistake like that.Comment

Amazing work my friend! Blows my Kalkulator out of the water! Working on an updated version of my AllTime Rosters for MLB2014 using your program, will post in my original AllTime thread when I finish and will put it in the vault. Should be absolutely awesome!!!Comment

Luckily for us though, this does NOT affect the ratings since the error is with the BatterCard, which is only used to fill in the "Career Totals" section on the right hand side. That is only a visual aid, it does not factor into anything. Still though, it needs to be fixed. I'll work on that later this week, but since it really doesn't affect the program much, and it will be a rare occurrence, it's not an emergency.
Thanks for reporting this! You're helping the program improve.PSN: Grits_N_Gravy_23Comment
