    Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic

There is a version in the vault. Look up my user name on there. It's a work in progress version.

    HOWEVER.

I will release a second work in progress version that is much further along before Christmas as a thank you to those who've supported me this year. Of course some stuff still isn't done, like most birthplaces, as I hear Pedro Martinez announced FROM THE GREAT STATE OF WISCONSIN, but it is very playable.

I'm simming live right now, Braves VS Expos.

        Now up.

        Act accordingly :-)

        So, what's in this?

        - Every fielder in the game is now done (safe for some rough appearences and birtĥplaces and some contracts) except for one or two late additions (Mike Glavine being one)

        - Most pitchers in the game are done.

        - Consider every player whose last name is in ALL CAPS to NOT be done. 99% will be depth minor league pitchers, except the big prospects on Tampa & Arizona.

        - NL East division teams are all done (safe for some rough appearences and birtĥplaces and some contracts) including rosters and lineups.

The name is now OS94+ because I can't say it is an entirely historically accurate 1994 mod, because of the extended prospect pools. There's a lot of players in the minors that weren't drafted in 1994. The MLB teams will be accurate though.

I'll be taking a few days off to be with my family. Thank you to everybody for supporting me through a rough modding year, I can see the end of the road on this project now, really looking forward to putting a bow on it so I can start on 1998.

Did anyone end up doing player faces for this roster in the past several months? I believe the last version I checked in on was during the summer. I know that was the one thing everyone was saying wasn't complete. I may have missed something along the way. Thanks so much for your work on this.

No faces were changed but I did make an effort to make the new players' faces better.

Just a little thing, if you download it and appreciate it, take a second to Like it in the vault, trolls are real aggressive in downvoting historical mods, and my only motivation of doing this is because people play it. Help me fight trolls, and if you have more than a minute, go in the vault, sort by creator and upvote the work of my fellow historical modders... and thank you.

I was STILL able to do a little mod work today, but not on 1994.

OS98 is now alive, a dozen or so players, from the Angels because why not. There is no base, it's all from scratch. No borrowed content from OS94 or any other other mods, OS98 stuff will be 100% created for OS98. This will also be an opening day roster + extended prospects pool.

They have correct service time. They have correct player's options (Happy to report, my idea to do it has worked, tremendous to have in the game, now you can't hoard players as much.). They have correct equipment. They have faces I bothered to work on. They have correct birthplaces. They have correct salaries & contracts, adjusted for salarial inflation. They have SLIGHTLY higher OVs on average compared to OS94, and I would think we won't see anymore players in the 30's and much less players in the 40's, which will help RTTS be more of a challenge. And of course they have my Potential system which IMO is the best out there and the reason why OS94 is so well balanced.

I will release the WIP (which is unplayable really, it crashes RTTS/Franchise at this point, but you can look at the work in the editor and beat up a team of generics in an exhibition game if you want to) on Christmas. Again to THANK YOU who have supported me. A glimpse of the future!

I don't understand this bud. Why not use 94 as the base? What would be the downside of this? I can only imagine it saving hours and hours of time. f course I might be missing something.

                  Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic

OS98 Beta is out in the vault under my user name.

Remember, the only players done are like 20 guys on California and a few guys who ended the year there but start it elsewhere, like Mark P. Johnson on Cincinnati, Chad Kreuter in Chicago and Gregg Jefferies on.... Philly? He shouldn't be on California to start the year anyways.

Tell me how good it looks! That would be the main thing. Also, notice the salaries and contracts. One of them has like 3/6 as a contract and that's a lesson learned: do not export a player when he has years played out on a contract, they port over. But that player has an accurate contract: three years left on it. So now when I do options, I make sure the player is in the first year of their contract when I export them. Speaking of which, options are also partially done, and I have some YOS to fix, which I do while I sim guys to take away their options.

When I sim guys to take away options or fix their YOS, I import them into OS94 so it also gives me an idea of how accurate the ratings are.

I would pretty much have to modify it all anyways.

For exemple: Every pitcher that has more than 3 years of service and less than 6 I would have to redo, because back when I first ported the mod, we couldn't export players from franchise so I was stuck with the base players the game let us export from the default data, and there wasn't any pitchers with more than 3 yos and less than 6.

Every player that had IRL more options than what they have by default in OS94, I would have to redo, because you can't add options, only take them away.

I'm raising OVs across the board, so that's touching EVERY player's ratings, and also, I'd have to touch all the players also because player performance changes between 94 and 98 so that's redo-ing everybody anyways.

And there's also this little technical thing: you cannot move players around in The Show that easily, it's only one for one trades so moving players around would be a nightmare, say I want to move Larry Walker to Colorado... Well, somebody from Colorado would end up in Montreal so now, I have to find somebody on the team that player plays for in 1998 that plays in Montreal or will play on a team in 1998 that has a player that plays in Montreal. It's a hell of a mess, I want nothing to do with it.

Are you going to have to redo every player face though? Or do you have some other method?

                      Re: OS94 (MLB 16) Topic

I do still have the spreadsheet from when I ported Knight's original mod that gives me some pointers but I can't rely on it entirely, the game changed A LOT. So I do them from scratch mostly.

But I will be able to work faster now, I'm a lot better at it than I was when I started. Some of the stuff just does itself, like the salaries, contract length, options (finding out how many), and the potentials. Even ratings calculations are now are pretty much automated.

Did you try my OS98 beta? What did you think of the faces/equipment? Better, right?

I think that your rosters are incredible - Thank You !!!!

The sim stats are the best and the season total errors are the best I have seen.

I also like the lower-stamina ratings for relief pitchers.

The best sliders for recreating good sim stats are:

                        3/7/8

                        (Starter Sta./Rel. Sta./MH)

And I also set Injuries to 8 as well.

dont know what kind of work the player models are going to need but I suspect someone will do the required exporting. Sure wish that someone was Sony, with carry-over rosters to go along with other carry-over Y2Y saves.

Hi Phil, love the roster. This is the first year I have played this 94 roster. I read an earlier post that said you had fixed the duplicate cubs player on the cardinals roster but when I downloaded it he was still there. Im not really asking you to fix it just need a little help getting in the right direction to fix it myself.

                                Hi everybody.

I came to announce news today.

I said that the only thing that would get me away from The Show would be a new entry in the dormant Fire Pro Wrestling series, last release in 2005, because that's my home, I've been working on Fire Pro stuff since the late 90's.

I honestly thought the day that we would see a new Fire Pro would never come, not after 12 years. I mean, after 12 years, a niche series like that that had under 100k sold copies of its last release, not happening ever. Right?

                                Well...

The greatest grappling game returns to take on the world! Customize every aspect of the match, from your wrestler to the ring itself, in your fight for the championship belt.

Release date: Q2 2017. First PC release for the series and ramping up to be the definitive (and probably last) entry in the series.

                                Also relevant:

So, yes at some point I'm leaving the MLB The Show scene. But I'm not leaving you guys with no 1994 in MLB 17. Until Fire Pro World comes out, I'll be here. I'll get the game launch day, I'll port 1994, I'll fix stuff, and then, when FPW comes out, I'll leave, and the data will be all yours to work on.

I might be active on the OS Fire Pro World if such a thing comes to be.

It was a blast, these last 4 years. I had fun, really I did.
