Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 17 The Show
Opening Day Realism + LowLight/CujoMatty's SotS + my own top to bottom Red Sox equipment edits based on games played later in the year/Getty Images + having some time off work = an immersive new franchise experience in '17 for the next couple of months until '18 drops! Thanks to everyone who contributed to these rosters, they are a game changer.

Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 17 The Show
I wouldn't worry too much; others have always stepped in to make rosters and even if it's not mine and teeds' work this year, people will get enjoyment out of what is available. If not, they will have to improve what is out there. New talent will be cultivated, people will learn things etc.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Completely understand man. I, for one, hope for an 18 realistic roster. You guys did an amazing job with 17!

Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 17 The Show
I loved your rosters last year and would totally be interested in helping out if it makes them more likely to happen (in secret of course). Or at least learning how you made them to make them myself. Hoping the devs did something game play related this year, for all our sakes.

Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 17 The Show
Just to clarify a bit...
There are really 2 things at play. One of which is the massive, time-sucking undertaking that is making a good roster. Not just a roster, but a good one. This has nothing to do with OS, who is annoying and who isn't, or anyone's behavior on the forums whatsoever. It is just a physical reality of whether to sink several months of time after work/on weekends etc. into a project like that. Or not. Which, to reiterate, I have not decided on. It would be quite ironic if someone asked me for an ETA on this decision just for old time's sake...
The second matter is the communication, threading, posting, "public relations," answering questions (sometimes the same question dozens of times), organizing people. Or not doing any of that. I can say with 100% conviction that even if I decide to make a roster this year, there will be none of this "second matter." It would be done with no indication of it being done and at some point, a roster would simply be born. No underlying PR campaign. No thread. Just, poof. Like last year.
This way I don't feel beholden to anyone to fulfill any sort of expectation about time or quality or anything at all. I don't feel distracted by answering questions on a daily basis, which makes the project tolerable to work on for a sustained amount of time. You want to feel like you're working for yourself and your own enjoyment of the game and others by extension. Instead of working at the behest of some faceless message board poster refreshing his browser every 5 minutes, viewing it as a service to be consumed at his leisure.
There is no "secret society" of people in the know, so please no PMs about "hey I can do this or help you with that." Or "you can keep these other losers in the dark, but you'll tell me what you are doing, right?"
If you guys don't like the uncertainty about it, then by all means start up a roster project. Don't wait for little old me! Everyone had to start somewhere. 5 years ago, I didn't really understand step 1 of how to do a roster for this game. And now it feels like I've never not being working on one.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Creating the roster is a soul sucking, mostly thankless, unpaid second and third job. You're constantly battling the voice in your head that is reminding you of how there are a million better, more productive ways of spending your time.

Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 17 The Show
These rosters have no competition and IMO bring out the very best in this game. Would the two of you be interested in making an 18 roster similar to the one you released in 17 if you were paid in advance?Comment

Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 17 The Show
Absolutely not, you guys. "Payment" isn't the issue and I would never solicit nor accept money for roster work. Period. The thought of actually, truly, legitimately working for some of you guys is exactly the opposite of everything I just posted about. My time is what I value.
I'll have no further comment on this. Good luck to all this baseball season, whether it's with making your own rosters or scavenging around OS for them.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 02-04-2018, 09:42 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 17 The Show
Hi, I am just getting into The Show '17... would the Realism roster that was created on Wednesday, August 16th be a good roster to start a franchise with?
it seems like you guys put in hours and hours of work with this roster.Last edited by FindingTim; 02-10-2018, 03:46 PM.Comment

Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 17 The Show
Really hoping these make a return this year. I am actually carrying these over to 18’. Never have done that before, but this roster is to great to lose!
