Dowie its Steven, Hey brother I have a question on 30 team control, Do you use it? Do you recommend it? I remember many years ago I set it up, but now I forgot, any tips on this refresher course to give me direction on how to set a 30 team control, and do you recommend it?

I do use 30-team control - it's really a must IMO.

Armor's sliders have a pretty good description of how to set it up (page 1).

I don't sit there before every series and adjust cpu lineups & rotation, but a couple times a week I will go through just to make sure I don't see anything that looks too crazy. Usually takes me 30 minutes to review.

40-man I focus a bit more. Mostly in the off-season to ensure no elite prospects aren't added and subject to the rule v draft.

One thing I do, and not sure if anyone else does is come July 1st I take a look at the standings. For the teams that are totally out of it, I will take an educated stab at what veterans IRL would likely be dealt from those teams and move them to the trading block in hopes the cpu will make deals w/o my involvement. I will never, ever make a trade for a cpu team.

Obviously, reversing foolish trades is the primary reason users play with 30-man control. I deliberately set the trade freq slider to 3 until July, and then move it up to 7 for July/August. Each day I pay special attention to the trades and if I feel it makes absolutely zero sense I simply reverse the trade.

Does anyone know if setting up a the lineup and rotations in the main roster has any effect on how it will setup when you start the franchise?

My understanding is that you have to use a 25 man roster to have the main roster lineups replicated in franchise mode. If you use a 40 man roster, there's nothing you can do to keep the main roster lineup from getting jumbled in franchise.

Great. Thank you. I got all my editing done (guys out of A ball, zero injury MLB,AAA,AA etc), and I didnt want to worry about going through lineups and rotations if the cpu is just going to rearrange them. Which Im ok with. I want my franchise to be its own world.

Is anyone working on an opening day 40 man version of this roster? One that still has Harvey with the Mets, etc? I'd attempt to put one together myself, but I can't find a preseason roster anywhere.

I've adjusted the contract years of Altuve and McCann to 7 and 2 respectively as Bravesfan 1984 said they should be. I also read in an earlier post in the thread where Quintanna's contract length needs to be changed as well. Does anyone know what it should be or if any other player needs changed? I know this will effect the following offseason as far as free agency goes which is important in my case since I let the CPU handle everything.

As far as service time, how big of a deal is this? I saw an earlier post where it needs to be changed for a few players. If it isn't that important, I'm not going to mess with it. The roster looks great, and I'm ready to start my franchise.

Quintana's contract has club options for 2019 and 2020. Option years were not included in the calc from baseball reference. There are no guarantees those are exercised.

As the roster creators have said, they don’t include club options. However, I think Sale and Bumgarner are locks to have their club options exercised, as well as Goldschmidt. Those are a few of the guys I’ll just change before I start my Franchise. Probably Quintana as well.

If using 30 team control it’s possible to resign these guys at appropriate salaries but if they have option years included in contract years then it’s impossible to get them off the team if for some reason the club doesn’t want to exercise.

There are no guarantees, Sale or MadBum could blow their elbows out tomorrow, just never know. I'd definitely rather take the conservative approach on contracts with options.

You can't change it once inside a franchise. If you already started one then you you'll have to wait till the off-season and resign him.

I chose “save data”. But when I go to look at rosters it seems to have screwed things up. For example instead of Cobb being on Baltimore’s roster he is now a free agent. There are several other players that are now free agents that shouldn’t be.

Not sure if you did this, but you need to make sure you load the rosters after you download them. After you load the rosters, go to edit player and make your edits. Next, and this is important, choose the save data option and save the file. If you choose Save Live Roster, it will screw everything up for you and save the live default roster instead.

Thanks. I did that. The edits work but here are some of the players that are now listed as free agents- Arrieta, Moustakas, Oh, Lucroy, Lynn, Cobb, etc. I believe these players were all free agents this offseason. But these players are all on their correct teams on this roster prior to me trying to make these edits. Once I make the edits they all revert back to free agents. Your rosters are perfect without trying to edit Altuve and McCann contract years so I guess I’ll just leave them alone.

First I want to say I appreciate all the work done between all parties named creating this. Thank You! Here is my question: Is there a post listed on how these ratings were created. I've learned a mind-numbing amount about advanced analytics when it comes to pitching over the last 4 years. Kershaw isn't 99ovr. Just want to learn what Advanced Metrics created any actual ratings changes in this? Were most or just some of the pitchers altered? (Not talking about Fake Players). Also I get that this is more a franchise format setup. But again the Dodgers won't get back a haul as you present with an (A) 99ovr... Again just want to see how these rating were created. Just constructive criticism also. Appreciate the work 1000% and anyone who downloads it should bleeping also.

Any chance you have a list of players who contracts you took out options?

I had a list of players j was gonna adjust for my franchise in regards to opt outs and team options.

I agree with the way you guys did it. I just put my own spin on things so I would like to adjust accordingly
