Jones should have been on our shortlist for known position changes, but Robertson must have just missed the cutoff.

Positions are determined by games played, and each year is weighted 5x that of the previous year.

We can force in phantom games to force a switch, and we can manually set positions. But normally, it takes about a month at a position to overtake the previous year (30 g * 5 vs 150 g).

I think you guys may have gotten Daniel Robertson of the Rays mixed up with Daniel Robertson of the DBacks.

Robertson on the Dbacks has only played 49 career games at 2B and all of those have come in the minors. He's an OF by trade.

To add onto the Kluber thing, I live in Cleveland and watch most games and its basically a slurve more then anything. The TV guys will call it a slider, but then talk about how its more of a slurve then a slider anyways. Not a curveball though

So Bundy is an A potential and Hader is a B potential. And Bundy has a slider with 99 movement--is that so? Well, a quick look at brooks shows movement of less than 2.5 horizontally and 0.29 vertically.

I suggest using brooksbaseball for pitch edits, just a suggestion.

There's this really cool feature in this game where you can click on any player and you're given the option to edit away to your personal liking...it's really sweet, you should check it out sometime.

Angels

Luis Pena has service time for some reason. Houston spotted that in the OSFM roster a few days ago.

Jake Yaacinich has been released by LAA

Jahmai Jones has moved from CF to 2B now.


Twins

Brian Navarreto has service time as well for some reason. Houston pointed that out as well. (The service time thing i think might be an issue from transferring a player from 17 to 18).

Rays

Xorge Carillo was released last month

Mariners

Zach Shank retired last week

Zach Vincej needs service time. He was one of the missing players in 18. Service time should be 0.031 from last season with the Reds.

Lindsey Caughel also has service time as well and shouldn't.

Rangers

Tony Sanchez has incorrect service time. I have the correct version I'll upload it later for you.

Luis Marte was released last week and is now with the Braves AA Mississippi.

Arturo Michelena was released a few weeks ago.

Good job guys. Too many 99 potentials for my liking but I can fix that myself. It's going to be interesting to compare these to Tru Sims roster. Keep up the good work!

We have been toying with potential for established players, and going forward, 25-year old major leaguers will have a smaller potential boost. As for Hader, stats are from May 1st, and we had to draw the line somewhere. His FV was 55, which is consistent with a mid B potential. He'll likely benefit from his next boost.

As for movement, we did consider movement based metrics, but decided to go with swinging strikes instead. His slider was one of the nastiest pitches in that regard, with a 31% whiff rate. Going forward, we do hope to use both.

I don't think the (0, 0) mark is a good reference point for pitch break. Pitches aren't compared to a theoretical pitch without break, they're usually compared against the fastball, and his slider is a good 15 inches away from that.

Going forward, we're hoping to try more things, and see if we can improve stuff. I appreciate you posting your work out there, as that's how we improve. I hope we can do the same as well, as we need more people collaborating, if we're to increase the quality of rosters.

I agree it is not his #1 pitch (his 2 seam is), but it is a curveball. The announcers even call it a curve or mostly use breaking ball. But it has every characteristic of a curve then it does a slider/slurve.

The pitch ordering comes from usage, and that slider/slurve pitch is definitely his most used pitch at 47% or so.

We did make changes to the statcast classifications, but he didn't raise any flags. It has now, and we'll reclassify.

We'll also sanity check classifications against Brooks, as a sanity check. It is weird that classify it as a curve, but we'll adjust it going forward.

Edit: His pitch usage has changed a lot over the last few years. We'll review things, and see what happens.

Aahh. Ok. Makes sense then. I know he uses it a lot for strike 3 and chasing purposes, but I never (personally) considered it his first pitch. By usage, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.
