Really awesome roster! Officially restarting my franchise to use these. Appreciate the work!

Have you been able to simulate multiple seasons out to see how incoming draft classes lineup with this roster? Just want to make sure that the computer generated draft classes don’t overpower the potential players that are already within the roster

I'm in the same boat: used Cycloniac's TrueSim Roster and Sliders last year with great success, and have been waiting for those. I appreciate the speed and thorough nature of this roster set (including equipment, walk-up music, etc), so I just downloaded these and will likely kick off franchise tonight. -- Thanks to Brian for contributing this to the community!

          A couple of questions:

          (1) How are the rerates determined? I looked through the thread and didn't see any discussion of this (sorry if I missed it). I'm not questioning them; I'm just curious what the method is behind the madness. (...and with so many hours invested here, this is some glorious and beautiful madness!)

          (2) For Brian and/or those using these rosters, what slider settings / adjustments do you recommend for human-played games?

          (3) When simulating games in a series, are there any different sliders to be used? (I know TrueSim has a set of sliders for games you play yourself with another set of sliders for simmed games.)

          (4) I know it was asked a couple of times previously in the thread, but is there a list somewhere of long-term injuries we can/should make on our own if we want to manually injure players to start the season?

Thanks again for the great work; sincerely appreciated!

I asked this same question. It's a little worrisome that it never got answered. That in addition to some ratings that I think are pretty far off from what they should be makes me very curious

This is me virtually tapping you on the shoulder, letting you know, you're getting super annoying at this point.

He told you how he does his potentials, and you disagreed, you obviously disagree with some ratings, so what's the point in telling you how he does those? So you can disagree again?

Use the roster, or don't use it, temper your entitlement, no one is waiting for you to play Monday morning QB on the roster, move on, my brother!

Re: 1000+ Hour MLB Roster 2021......

MLB players were re-rated in most cases based on two main things:

                - where they fall/rank on the fangraphs/MLB top 100 player rankings (which uses shredder/steamer projections)

                - how a single player's overall affects his team's overall ranking.

If you start a franchise and scroll through teams it has their rankings in several categories, along with an overall. My goal was "Dodgers 1st Pirates 30th" and the other teams in a logical spot in between.

Any issues you guys have with an individual player rating in my roster is totally your prerogative. I use a ton of info, hours upon hours of watching baseball, and several different rankings lists. That said, mistakes will always be made and I'm not saying these are perfect. If something bothers you, just change it. It's a game guys, play how you wanna play.

Now I gotta go see the Pirates embarrass themselves in a doubleheader. Have a good weekend.

                    A) I don't need you to "tap me on the shoulder". I can take care of myself thank you

                    B) It is standard practice to release a little bit of information for how you came to your final ratings and potentials

                    C) If I disagree, it is merely constructive feedback. Whether or not he agrees with it and decides to integrate it is his choice

Now if you don't mind getting off your high horse....

I want it to be noted that I appreciate your hard work. I merely wanted some more information on your process because I saw a couple of things that stood out to me when I looked through the roster. I can always fix things myself, but whenever I see that in a roster it makes me think of it being more widespread issue, and that to me is not what I look for. I'm kind of a perfectionist though and not everyone is as Type A about every tiny little detail (sometimes I wish I wasn't lol)

Anyways, thanks for your hard work. I do think it is an overall good roster set. All I'm presenting here is a little bit of feedback

You misconstrue constructive criticism with your opinion.

Constructive criticism would be something like, it might work better for franchise longevity if everyone on a Major League roster is at least a 72, rather than 70 because through my simulations I noticed players regress too quickly.

You asking why players are rated a certain way because you disagree with their rating is your opinion.

                        No hard feelings, my brother!

I mean if you want a specific example of what I was referring to, I have two:

Anthony Rizzo: his batting attributes against LHPs are pretty overrated compared to his performance the last three seasons (.256/.375/.389)

Nico Hoerner: has absolutely awful contact attributes despite hitting .273 across the last three seasons. Also, his overall is elevated near his potential, capping any possible growth in hitting areas he could have once the franchise gets going

Those aren't opinions, they're just statistics. And like I said, just seeing that in a couple of players I peeked at makes me wonder if those patterns are widespread, so that's why I wanted to know more about the method

Since 2013, Anthony Rizzo has never been worse than 4th on the cubs in batting average against lefties. 70/70 puts him right where he should be on the team.

Nico has a potential of 85, and is rated 75. He's a mere 5 potential points off ELITE status in this roster, and the 4th highest potential of young guys in the entire organization. He hit .222 last year in his only year as a full time starter in the majors.

Your opinion is Rizzo should be lower cause of the last three seasons.

Your opinion is that Nico can keep up his hitting after only 2 months into the season, and it's your opinion he should be closer to elite status.

How Rizzo has hit since 2013 shouldn't really be relevant tbh. It matters recent performance (most guys use three years of data). Additionally, even looking at Rizzo's career numbers, his BA and ISO are both roughly league average which equates to contact and power ratings of ~60-65

I never said Nico should actually have any higher of potential. I think he should be be lower actually. Additionally, while he struggled last season (also for the record he was not a full time starter), his 2019 numbers and numbers from this season indicate a very strong contact hitter. Additionally, he had one of the highest rated "hit" tools when he was a prospect, so rating him below to well below average is an inaccurate assessment of his play style.

You keep trying to say "that's just your opinion", but what you're failing to realize is these aren't my opinions. These are just statistical facts. Like I said, I can fix these things myself, but it only makes me wonder how widespread these discrepancies are. Maybe I'm just more type A about my details. But that's my feedback (back with statistical evidence, so not just "opinion")
