Re: TNK 2015 Sliders
TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #2 of the Season
Boston Red Sox (1-0) @ Philadelphia Phillies (0-1)
Pitching Matchup - Rick Porcello vs Aaron Harang
GAME NOTES:
The Phillies opened the scoring in the 2nd inning after Ruiz reached on a slow roller and Xander Bogaerts booted a double play ball off the bat of Grady Sizemore giving the Phillies two men on with one out. Freddy Galvis would line a RBI single into LF with two outs to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead. The Phillies extended their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the 3rd on a sac fly by Ryan Howard scored Revere wlho led off the inning with a single. Dustin Pedroia doubled to lead off the top of the 4th for Boston and came around to score on a RBI double by David Ortiz to get the Red Sox on the board and cut the Phillies lead to 2-1. Harang was able to get out of the inning without any further damage as Ortiz would be stranded in scoring position and the Phillies would maintain their 2-1 lead. Porcello was settling into a groove as he picked up a pair of strikeouts in the bottom of the 4th to give him 7 K's through 4 innings and we would head to the 5th inning with the Phillies on top by a score of 2-1. Harang retired the first two batters in the top of the 5th before Mookie Betts lined a double down the LF line and Dustin Pedroia followed with a RBI single to CF to tie the score at 2-2. David Ortiz was up next and with Pedroia running Ortiz would hit a chopper to the left of the mound that Harang would field but he uncorked a wild throw that got past Howard at first base and Pedroia would come all the way around to score on the play and give Boston a 3-2 lead. The Phillies stormed right back in the bottom of the 5th as they had two men on with one out when Chase Utley smacked a 2-run double to give the Phillies a 4-3 lead. Porcello would avoid the big inning and get the final two outs of the inning and the game would go to the 6th inning with Philadelphia leading 4-3. Justin DeFratus pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 6th for Philadelphia. Porcello was knocked out of the game after a pinch hit double by Darin Ruf gave the Phillies men on 2nd and 3rd base with one out in the bottom of the 6th. Alexi Ogando would come in to a tight spot and did a great job as he would get Revere to pop out to shallow RF and Herrera to ground out to Pedroia to escape the jam and strand a pair of runners in scoring position as the game would go to the 7th inning with the Red Sox trailing 4-3. Ken Giles took over on the mound for Philly in the top of the 7th and gave up a lead off single to Ryan Hanigan. Brock Holt came up next as a pinch hitter in the pitchers spot and lined a single to CF to give the Red Sox two men on with nobody out. Hanigan was lifted for Victorino as a pinch runner at 2nd base as he represented the tying run. Mookie Betts was up next and he laid down a bunt to try and move the runners up and his bunt was placed perfectly on the 1st base line and the speedy Betts would just beat the throw to first base for single and suddenly the Red Sox had the bases loaded with nobody out and a golden opportunity to to tie the game and/or take the lead with the meat of the order coming up. Giles seemed rattled on the mound and he walked Pedroia on 5 pitches to bring in the tying run. Jeanmar Gomez came on to replace Giles who could not record an out and Gomez would get David Ortiz to ground into a huge double play but Holt would score the go ahead run to make it 5-4. Gomez would then get Hanley Ramirez to fly out to end the inning as Gomez does a fantastic job to minimize the damage and keep the Phillies in the ball game. The Phillies would answer right back in the bottom of the 7th as Ryan Howard singled with one out and Carlos Ruiz would jump all over a fastball from Craig Breslow and crush a 2-run HR down the LF line to put Philadelphia back on top 6-5. Breslow would get out of the inning and strand Grady Sizemore in scoring position and the game would the Phillies now leading 6-5. Luis Garcia took over on the mound for Philly in the top of the 8th and pitched around a lead off walk to Pablo Sandoval to hold the lead at 6-5. Cesar Hernandez led off the bottom of the 8th with a pinch hit single off Junichi Tazawa and came in to score on a huge RBI triple by Herrera to give the Phillies an important insurance run to make it 7-5 and then chase Utley would rip an RBI single past the drawn in infield to make it 8-5. Tazawa would get Howard to ground into a double play to end the inning and the game would go to the 9th inning with the Phillies leading 8-5. Former Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon came on to pitch the top of the 9th with a 3 run lead and looking to close it out against his former team. Mookie Betts picked up his 3rd hit of the game when he smoked a line drive single to CF with one out and stole second base. The Red Sox seemed to be locked in on Papelbon as Pedroia and Ortiz would each put a charge in the ball but Pedroia's fly ball would be caught against the wall in LF and Ortiz would end the game by launching a shot to straight away CF that looked like a HR off the bat but Herrera would make the grab just in front of the wall on the warning track to end the game as Papelbon records the save and the Red Sox lose a very exciting ball game by a score of 8-5.
* This was a fantastic game that was back and forth throughout and featured a little bit of everything. Games like this make me positive that we are in a good place right now with the sliders as I had a low scoring game yesterday to open the season and then this back and forth offensive battle in the second game of the season......great variety while remaining realistic - that's exactly what we are looking for!!!!!!
* Rick Porcello had an up and down debut in a Red Sox uniform as he was excellent at times and struggled at times. Porcello struck out 7 and walked 3 as he pitched into the 6th inning before exiting and earning a no decision
* Red Sox prized rookie CF Mookie Betts was 3 for 5 in the game two singles, a double and a stolen base in the lead off spot.
* The difference in this ball game was that the Philly bullpen was better than the Boston bullpen
* The Red Sox and Phillies will play the rubber match of this season opening series tomorrow as Boston will send Justin Masterson who returns to the team after being traded away as a young reliever years ago against David Buchanan for Philadelphia
* I'm not going to do these long game stories for every game - they just take too much time!! But this game was very exciting and worthy of sharing how things unfolded. I will continue to post box scores for every game with some brief notes on the game and I will periodically post updates on the entire league standings, league leaders, complete stats for my Red Sox team, all-star voting, etc.

Re: TNK 2015 Sliders (By: TNK / P.A.D / HighCmpPct)
I've only had the CPU put runners in motion a handful of times in 2 games so far......and never had a problem through roughly 15 games of testing prior to starting my franchise
I just had a throwing error by the CPU in this game
Are you using v2.0 from the vault and have all sliders and settings exactly as they are in post #1 of the threadComment

Re: TNK 2015 Sliders (By: TNK / P.A.D / HighCmpPct)
Biggest issue for me is CPU HRs.. I think it's more pitching accuracy for user. Even when I throw on the meter line, the ball keeps floating right down the center. This has resulted in about 3-4 hrs in two games. Otherwise, these are spot on.Last edited by TheBleedingRed21; 04-16-2015, 09:45 AM.Comment

Re: TNK 2015 Sliders
Played my first FULL game, start to finish, in "sim mode" (taking it seriously, trying to win) with these.
I don't have the stats, or time to really go into specifics, but I had a complete blast.
I was the Cubs, hosting the Mariners.
J. Lester vs. F. Hernandez.
I won, 3-1.
Had 7 hits, 2 HRs (one solo by Mike Olt, one with two on by Starlin Castro).
I played Lester all game. He gave up a solo shot in the 9th to kill the shut out, but overall GREAT game. Had to really pick my spots. Got into a few jams, but didn't notice any CPU shenanigans.
Really looking forward to trying another game soon!San Francisco 49ers

You need to pitch further off the plate....just kjeep playing and getting a little braver at throwing off the edge of the plate....suddenly it will clickComment

100% identical other than your camera which i dislike. Now dont get me wrong this set is a huge improvement over the default sliders and the time and effort that goes into them is appreciated, i was giving my feedback. I dont feel i could do anything else different at the plate

Not seeing either of those issues - you can't possibly have all settings and sliders exactly as listed in post #1
I've only had the CPU put runners in motion a handful of times in 2 games so far......and never had a problem through roughly 15 games of testing prior to starting my franchise

Im just giving the feedback bud. I have the sliders set the same as you have them in the post. baserunner steal frequency is at 6 just like you have it. Im seeing guys steal with very low steal ratings and 30-40 speed and the batter swinging and trying to put the ball in play when they do steal. I might have exaggerated a tad by saying "everytime", but they steal 75% of the time when getting guys on OR hit and running.
I also dont see many home runs. I have been using X to swing 100% of the time. Last game I used only O (contact) and got 18 hits. No homers of course. Just wondering if the power at 4 or solid hits at 3 is low? Again, just a observation and opinion from my games. And yes I have a good eye at the plate. strike out maybe 1-2 games.Last edited by nezff; 04-16-2015, 05:10 PM.Comment

Re: TNK 2015 Sliders (By: TNK / P.A.D / HighCmpPct)
Ok, so you tell me I dont have the sliders exactly the way you have them in post #1 and then you ask me if I do?
And yes I have a good eye at the plate. strike out maybe 1-2 games.
Now...user skill is a huge factor as well
Honestly though - I'm not seeing those issues, I don't know what to tell you. You can certainly take the set and tweak away to get them to perform better for you. Just don't take my work, change a couple sliders and pawn it off as your own, that's all I ask. I'm only saying that because that has been done before as well.
Another reason why I always post my boxscores is so that you guys can see what results I'm getting......I wish I had more to tell you, but I'm not seeing those issues and the guys I trust and help me test aren't reporting those issues either.Comment

Re: TNK 2015 Sliders
I'm sticking with Zone hitting for now and getting good results....I did some testing with directional and it works well, but zone was the way to go for me.
and yes - I dropped dynamic difficulty to 0 for my first two gamesComment
