      Game #8 of the Season

Washington Nationals (7-0) @ Boston Red Sox (5-2)
Pitching Matchup - Stephen Strasburg vs Justin Masterson

      GAME NOTES:
The Red Sox trailed 2-0 in the 6th as they were being mowed down by Strasburg until Ryan Hanigan turned on a fastball and hammered over the green monster for a solo shot to cut the lead to 2-1. Daniel Nava doubled off Strasburg in the bottom of the 8th and Strasburg would exit as Casey Janssen came in from the pen. Hanigan was up next and came through again as he lined a RBI single to CF to tie the game at 2-2. The game would remain tied into the bottom of the 9th as Washington brought in Craig Stammen. David Ortiz came up with one out in the bottom of the 9th and with a 1-1 count Stammen left a fastball over the plate and Ortiz crushed a no doubt bomb over the bullpen in RF for a dramatic walk off HR to give the Red Sox a thrilling come from behind 3-2 victory

      * The Red Sox win on a David Ortiz walk off to hand the Nationals their first loss of the season

      * Stephen Strasburg and Justin Masterson went toe to toe on the mound in this one.

      * The Red Sox offense was being shut down for the 2nd night in a row before Hanigan took Strasburg deep and the Boston bats suddenly came to life and seemed to start putting much better swings on the ball

      * The teams will play the rubber match of this 3 game series tomorrow with Washington sending Gio Gonzalez to the mound against Wade Miley in a battle of lefties.

I'm not having that problem......maybe you should lower CPU strike consistency 1 click

Are you playing All-Star Difficulty with zone hitting?

            Re: TNK 2015 Sliders

Won second game on the sliders as well 1-0 against the Diamondbacks. I had Corbin going against his former team through 8 innings, allowed 5 hits, six ks, no walks. Kimbrel quickly shut the door in the ninth.

As for the offense, hit a homer in the first inning, and that was pretty much it. Ended up with 4 hits including a lead off triple in the 8th then promptly struck out three times (sliders from a lefty against three lefties for me, just couldnt read it). Did draw another three walks though. First time I've ever drawn three in any baseball game I believe lol. So that's great.

Overall I'm playing on them the way I expected to, I'm a pretty good at mixing pitches and stuff, but figured I would really struggle on offense. Have to adjust, think I'm just barely missing

              Re: TNK 2015 Sliders

Thanks so much for posting these sliders as usual. I've played about 20 games in Franchise and so far they are playing quite realistically. My only issue is that my pitchers strike out just a drop too many batters and barely walk anyone. Any advice or recommendations on how to fix that without affecting anything else? Thanks!

                    TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
                    Game #9 of the Season

Washington Nationals (7-1) @ Boston Red Sox (6-2)
Pitching Matchup - Gio Gonzalez vs Wade Miley

                    GAME NOTES:
The Red Sox and Nationals play a day game to wrap up this 3 game series on Jackie Robinson Day after splitting the first two games. Washington jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning on a solo HR to dead center by Ian Desmond. Gio Gonzalez was sharp early and kept the Red Sox bats quiet until the bottom of the 5th inning when Brock Holt drew a walk with one out. Ryan Hanigan followed with a RBI double in the gap that scored Holt all the way from first base to tie the score at 1-1. Dustin Pedroia lined a RBI double down the RF line with two outs to score Hanigan and give Boston a 2-1 lead. Things went from bad to worse for Gonzalez as he left a breaking ball over the plate and Hanley Ramirez stayed back on it and crushed it over the monster seats in LF for a 2-run HR to make it 4-1. The Red Sox would send 8 men to the plate in the inning, forcing Gonzalez to throw 39 pitches as they exploded for 4 runs to take a 4-1 lead after 5 innings of play. Miley struggled with his control in the bottom of the 6th and the Nationals showed good patience as they had runners at the corners with one out when Bryce Harper lined a single up the middle to pickup a RBI and cut the Boston lead to 4-2. Danny Espinosa would come up with runners at the corners and two outs and he went down to get a slider from Miley and lofted a wall ball to LF off the green monster to score two runs as Harper just beat the throw to the plate as the Nationals tie things back up at 4-4. Anthony Varvaro would relieve Miley on the mound and struck out Tyler Moore to strand Espinosa at second base and end the inning with the score tied 4-4. Jayson Werth made a bid to break the tie in the top of the 8th when he crushed a ball off Edward Mujica that Mookie Betts caught on the warning track deep in the CF triangle for the second out and Mujica would get Harper to ground out to end the inning with the score still tied 4-4. Mujica got the first out in the top of the 9th before the Nationals got 3 straight singles with Anthony Rendon picking up an RBI as Washington takes a 5-4 lead with one out in the 9th. Reed Johnson made it 4 straight singles but as he smoked a ground ball in the hole to RF but Shane Victorino came up throwing and fired a laser to the plate to nail Nate McLouth who had come on as a pinch runner for a huge out. Yunel Escobar knocked Mujica out of the game as he lined a double down the RF line to scorew two runs and give the Nationals two huge insurance runs as they now had a 7-4 lead. Drew Storen

                    * This game was tied 4-4 after 8 innings before a disastrous top of the 9th for Edward Mujica as Washington roughed him up for 3 runs in the inning as the Nationals take two out of three from the Red Sox with a 7-4 victory.

                    * Gio Gonzalez started off the night looking very good but the wheels fell off in the bottom of the 5th as the Red Sox exploded for 4 runs. Gonzalez would end up allowing 4 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings of work on the mound with 3 Ks

                    * Wade Miley gave up a HR to the second batter of the game but bounced back and pitched well until things fell apart for him in the 6th. Miley would wind up going 5.2 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits to go along with 5 Ks and 2 walks in the no decision

                    * Hanley Ramirez is starting to heat up for Boston after a slow start as he went 3 for 4 with his 1st HR in a Red Sox uniform. Ramirez now has his average up to .250 and has 7 RBI in 9 games.

                    * The Red Sox fall to 6-3 on the season and will have an off day before the 1st place Baltimore Orioles come to town with a 7-2 record for a 4 game series at Fenway Park. Joe Kelly will take the mound for Boston in the opener against Bud Norris for the Orioles.

Loving these sliders. At first I couldn't get a hit to save my life, but now I have bumped the pitch speed down a notch or two and I'm finally getting some good results. Every game I play seems to play a little different as it should! Great set!!

That's exactly what we want - variety with results that are within reason. Stats will vary for different people based on which team they are using, their skill level, etc. .....but as long as the results are things that COULD happen in real life then we are in great shape.

                                TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE
                                Game #10 of the Season

Baltimore Orioles (7-2) @ Boston Red Sox (6-3)
Pitching Matchup - Bud Norris vs Joe Kelly

                                GAME NOTES:
The Red Sox grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning on a RBI double by the red hot Hanley Ramirez and a ground out by Pablo Sandoval. Joe Kelly got into a little trouble in the top of the 3rd when the Orioles had the first two batters reach on singles. Baltimore had their big hitters coming up in the inning but Kelly would strike out Jimmy Paredes before getting Chris Davis to ground out and Adam Jones to fly out to escape the inning without allowing a run to score and keep it a 2-0 game. Hanley Ramirez made it 3-0 with a RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd inning for his 2nd RBI of the game. Kelly got into a groove on the mound and kept the Orioles off the scoreboard through 7 innings of fantastic work on the mound and we would head to the 8th inning with Boston leading 3-0. Robbie Ross took over on the mound for Boston in the top of the 8th and got the first two outs before Junichi Tazawa came on to face Adam Jones with two outs. Jones singled to LF and Travis Snider followed with a single to LF to give Baltimore two men on and bring the tying run to the plate with two outs. Boston pitching coach Juan Nieves paid a visit to the mound with Manny Machado coming up. Machado made it three straight hits as he lined a RBI single to LF to score Jones and cut the Boston lead to 3-1. That was it for Tazawa as he exited without recording a single out and Craig Breslow would come in to a tough spot to face Ryan Flaherty with two outs and two men on. Breslow did his job as he got Flaherty to ground out to Sandoval at 3rd base for the third out and we would go to the bottom of the 8th with the Red Sox up 3-1. The Red Sox went down quietly in the bottom of the 8th as Brad Brach has been excellent out of the Baltimore pen and we would head to the 9th with Boston leading 3-1. Red Sox closer Koji Uehara got the first out to begin the 9th before Everth Cabrera laid down a bunt and reached base when Sandoval's throw pulled Napoli off the bag at first base but it was ruled a base hit and Baltimore would have a man on and bring the tying run to the plate with one out. Alejandro De Aza went down to get a splitter and lined a single to LF to put runners on 1st & 2nd base for Baltimore with Jimmy Paredes up next. Paredes had a 1-1 count when Uehara ran a two seam fastball low and away that Paredes hit on the ground to Sandoval who fired to Pedroia at 2nd base and Pedroia made a great turn to just get Paredes at first base for a game ending 5-4-3 double play as Uehara picks up the save and the Red Sox win 3-1.

                                * This was a great game as the Red Sox got 3 early runs before their bats went silent and the Orioles had a ton of base runners late in the game, but the Red Sox made quality pitches when it counts and come away with a well played 3-1 victory in the opener of this 4 game series.

                                * Joe Kelly gave the Red Sox 7 terrific innings of shutout work on the mound and earned the win to improve his record to 2-0. Kelly is off to an outstanding start to the season as he has yet to allow a run and has pitched 7 shutout innings in each of his outings this season

                                * Bud Norris had a rough start as he allowed two runs in the 1st inning but was able to settle in and gut his way through 5 innings and keep his team in the game as he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits while issuing 3 walks and striking out 5

                                * Hanley Ramirez continues to swing a hot bat after going 3 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI yesterday against Washington. Ramirez had a RBI double & RBI single in his first two at bats today and finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.

                                * Mookie Betts was 1 for 3 with a triple, scored 2 runs and drew a walk as he continues to do a good job at the top of the Red Sox order

                                * The teams will play the 2nd game of this four game series tomorrow as Chris Tillman takes the mound for Baltimore against Clay Buchholz for Boston. The Orioles and Red Sox are now tied atop the AL East standings with identical 7-3 records.
