Are you using Armours sliders and timing hitting? AllStar? Charlie Morton of the Phillied just no hit me through 8 innings. I got a hit in the 9th. I only struck out 4 times. Lost 2-0. I moved solid bits to default for both me and the cpu before the game and moved fastball slider to default and offspeed slider to 7. Most of the time my timing was good. The cpu doesn't hit off me either. I haven't seen more than 3 runs scored by a team in the 15 games I've played. Armours sliders have worked so well for me in the past that I just am not convinced it is a slider issue. But I have read several posters suggest that there seems to be something wrong with directional hitting this year. I was really enjoying 2015 and having great results. I may just have to go back to playing that

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
Armor - Appreciate all the effort you put into your sliders, they are rather popular so you are doing something right! Given the popularity, I thought you might be the right person to ask a question about sliders--in regards to your "in-play" sliders settings. Specifically, fielder and baserunner speeds, arm strength and reaction. I want to explain my question fully so it's clear, so please forgive me in advance if I'm not as concise as I'd like or if it seems a little overly complicated!
I know sliders sets are primarily made for those that want a more "realistic" experience, and there are 2 ways to measure this--quantitatively and/or objectively. Having messed with sliders a little in the past, I found that those two do not necessarily always line up perfectly and sometimes you have to choose which of those is more important. Now, obviously making sure the stats from the game line up with real life numbers is very important, but...
...from an objective (visual) point of view, making sure the game "looks most realistic" is probably an even more important goal for me. I've played with player/fielder speeds arm strength sliders in several of past versions to try to correct incorrect "looking" plays and to try to get runners to get to the bases they should get to on various types of plays, and trying to get plays that should be close ones to actually be the close ones(assuming good throws, etc). The old "liners down the line into the corners being singles instead of doubles", have probably been one of the most obvious issues The Show has had in previous versions. But also want infield hits to look proper, getting runners to score from first (fast enough ones, anyway) on gappers, etc. to work too. The problem I've had is if you're able to "fix" one type of play, you may accidentally create an unintended consequences and end up causing other plays or something else to not work properly.
So with all that said, I'm wondering how your specific set of changes to speed/arm/reactions look to be working in regard to some of those plays? Are the "right" plays the ones that are becoming the close ones? Have you noticed any unexpected negative results from your changes? I am not seeking perfection, just trying to improve upon an already great looking game, so I'm certainly willing to try your set if you think the changes you made have increased the realism from a visual perspective. Would appreciate any opinion/feedback you might offer--or any others on this thread that are using your sliders. Thanks!Comment

The player ratings come into clear focus. Although the game plays really great on default, fielders IMO who are average to below average play over their heads more often than we want them too. When we turn these settings to their current values the warts start to show more when tougher plays are happening. Those sinking line drives fall in more on lower rated defensive players. Guys are not gunning down runners at home too often if their arm rating is not warrenting that kind of play at a high %.
Same goes for pitching. 5th rotation starters.....will show they are most of the time over the course of 162 games.
Same goes for hitting. Hence solid hits where it is set. You gotta earn it.
Which brings me to another point. These sliders are ultimately designed for those that play at least 100 games. Personally I play almost every pitch of every inning (in my 2 main franchises). I experince the ebb's and flows of hitting streaks, slumps, power outages and power surges. Same goes for pitching.
Sliders do not fix your hitting slumps or pitching problems. That is user skill ultimately. These sliders do not deviate too far from AS default. So if you not hitting you seriously have to look at your camera, your pitch speed, your skill level and hit the cages.
Seriously. It's not the game. I am hitting fine. I love hitting this year even more because of the off the hook ball physics and sounds off the bat.
Nothing has changed in my mind with directional/timed to the negative. In fact I am able to turn on the ball better this year than on 15 or 14. The timing window has actually opened a little wider this season IMO.
The reason we share this slider set with the community is so gamers who approach the game like we do have an option. And those who want a fresh or different game experience can take a look at the game settings (and clean screen approach) and slider values and give it a whirl.
But by no means am I here to fix the game. It does not need fixing. It is fantastic out of the box. We find making slider adjustments on The Show a pleasure. As far as scores and offense....I need 40 games plus to really make a concrete determination about moving any hitting sliders up a click (Power or contact or both) for the HUM or CPU or both. So keep in mind we are only a week into release.
Enjoy the game and just keep playing.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 04-06-2016, 07:25 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Great set again but wondering how much injuries play a part in the game set at 8..i always live in fear of being balls deep in a franchise and one of my superstars career is endedComment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
Armour, you mentioned previously that directional hitting seems different this year. In what way? In previous years I have installed the game, set my settings to AllStar, timed hitting and followed your slider adjustments. I've always felt challenged (when I win I feel I have earned it) but have had realistic results. This year, it hasn't been the case. And I agree, hitting is actually easier this year - my timing is usually good, I'm pulling the ball more, and striking out less. The issue is that I don't make solid contact and get very few hits. I've played around 15 games and have never had myself or the cpu score more than 3 runs or get more than 6 hits. Charlie Morton of the Phillies no hit my Mets for 8 innings and I only struck out 4 times. I'm beyond frustrated this year. Thanks for letting me ventPS5Comment

It happens more often than you think. Injuries are a big part of the game, and having depth is critical. It helps you really build your team, and actually use your 40 man roster. Now Playing on PS5:

The next 15 games IMO will probably go a lot different. After 53 games your a 1/3 through the season. That will be a excellent sample size. baseball always has a reversion to mean for most players. Some will be above their standard deviation some below....and that is the fun and mystery of why some guys have career years or bad ones.
Keep playing is the best advice I can give you. Let the settings marinate. It will all balance out over the course of a season.
Trust me.
I am getting some great duals, some HR fests....the variety has been their for me. And remember everyone has varying levels of skill.
Maybe you should drop hitting down to Veteran and do the following:
Human Contact - 4
Human Power - 4
Human Solid Hits - 3
CPU Control - 4
CPU Pitcher Consistency - 2
CPU Strike Frequency - 1
Let me know how that goes....we very well use that as our Hybrid set for those who are just not hitting well and feel they need to bump down to Veteran Hitting with All-Star Pitching.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 04-06-2016, 10:53 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
Gotta say I'm finding hitting easier than last year....Although it's just this last game that I think it's clicked since I actually put the correct sliders in lol... Right now I'm winning 5 1 against the red sox (I'm blue jays) with 11 hits. Red sox only had 4 hits

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 16 Timed/Classic Simulation Sliders
Thanks for the feedback Armour. Are you saying hitting is harder this year? I have never had issues hitting on AllStar in previous years and at times I thought I needed to move up to HOF. And it's not that I'm striking out 15 times a game either. I've always used your sliders on AllStar and love to be challenged. I will try veteran but I know it will make me feel like I'm cheating. Thanks again
Try dropping to veteran and see if that makes the game play the way "you" want it to play.
Also Dynamic Difficulty is an option to maybe find your sweet spot.
I just think....it's baseball. This is what can happen. Play more games a lot more games Burgess. Now Playing on PS5:
