This year I came in with a new approach to sliders. I accepted the fact that everyone has different skill levels, and the developers try and make the game play fair for the average user, which most people on here aren't. With that being said, the developers did an unbelievable job on the things out of user or cpu control this year. Things like fielder run speeds and arm strengths, as well errors. I try to leave as many things as possible at default because the game just plays better there. The great thing about "The Show" is that it truely is tailored to you, and your game style. Two major ways it stands out from other sports games are; Dynamic Difficulty, and being able to have different skill levels for "Offense" and "Defense". i.e. EA NCAA College Football. Madden actually did this one year and I loved it, I don't why they stopped.
Knowing where my skills were at, at the end of last year, I had an idea where I wanted to play coming into this year. I started out with all sliders on default for a long time. I began on Veteran batting and quickly moved on to All-Star. For pitching I started on HOF and quickly moved on to Legend. I hit road bumps in both batting and pitching at this point. I knew my difficulties would be Veteran+ and HOF+.
This is key for anyone who feels they need a middle level like I did. Put the difficulty on DD for both hitting and pitching, and crank the "DD Sensitivity" Slider up to max (10). Find easy matchups for yourself and just keep leveling up until you get to your desired level. Should not take long on 10. At that point, turn the "DD Sensitivity Slider" back down to 5.
I then proceeded to play quite a few more games at this level. I discovered a few things that came for my game play style. The CPU didn't throw enough balls, neither of us walked enough batters or struck out enough, and we both hit the ball a little too well. I made a few minor adjustments to tailor to my needs specifically, and the game is playing amazingly for me.
What I did, it may not work for you. But the idea of this thread is to get people to start making their own sliders. One's that fit only them and not trying to fit everyone else. If you put what difficulty you're playing on, and what you're having trouble with, as a community we can help each other all become slider makers. Also shout out to A&S for the clean screen idea, makes pitching harder, and makes the game look soooo much better.
Here's an example of what I'm going with and why I chose what I did:
Quick Counts - Off
Fielding - Auto (true to attributes)
Hitting - Zone/Buttons
Pitching - Classic
Ball Marker & Strike Zone - Off (Clean Screen)
Batting - Veteran (+)
USER Timing - 3 -- Was squaring the ball up too much
USER Foul Freq. - 0 -- Wasn't striking out enough
CPU Strike Freq. - 1 -- More walks
CPU Starter Stamina - 7 -- Starters last longer
Fastball Speed - 7 -- More SO's
Pitching - HOF (+)
CPU Timing - 1 -- Less XBH and more SO's
CPU Foul Freq. - 0 -- More SO's
USER Pitch Control - 4 -- More walks
USER Consistency - 4 -- More walks
An example of something to change for different skill levels. If you were playing Batting on All-Star, I would put CPU strike freq. up to 2 or 3.
