The CPU keeps putting Hauschild and Gonzalez up in the pen warming up. I keep switching sides and sitting them down and putting Darvish and Claudio up instead. The moment I switch back and the CPU has thrown a pitch I look and wouldn't you know it, those idiots get Hauschild and Gonzalez back up in the pen. How can I possibly fix this idiotic behavior from the CPU? If I wait until they sub one in the only guy throwing in the pen will be the other moron so I'm simply taking out one garbage pitcher to put in the other. I can't sit them and get 2 other guys warming up as the CPU will over ride that the very moment I switch control back to my team and a pitch is thrown.

For all the things they seem to patch, they really need to fix this otherwise it ruins a great season right at the end and anyone not using 30 team control can't do anything about it.
To say that I am disappointed in reading this post would be a huge understatement to say the least. I have played this game for years and have never finished a season. My kids are a little older now so I have more time to play this year. My wife bought me this year's game for Fathers Day and I promised myself to finish a full season this year (I play every pitch in every game of both my Yankee and Mets franchises). I've played around 15 games in both franchises and having a blast. Was pretty excited until I read about your experiences. I also have never played with 30-team control. Now I feel discouraged and think "what's the point in continuing to play when I'm only going to be disappointed at the end"? Kind of like watching a 3-hour movie and being disappointed with the ending. Not sure what to do now.

Trust me, it was really disappointing to see as well. My offensive numbers really spiked during October scoring more runs then any month prior. I went 24-4 on the month and I simulated like that last 10-12 games, it sucked all the excitement of being in a pennant race right out of it. I started the month 2.5 GB of Texas for the division and ended up winning the division by 8 games over Houston. I really wish I had gone 30 team control like I do every year but for whatever reason I completely spaced it until it was far too late.

Chef--what would have been the remedy with 30 team control? Simply remove the September call ups from the active MLB roster of each CPU team prior to playing each series?

How much "work" is 30-team control? I've always preferred to run my own team and let the CPU manage the rest (assuming it managed the teams somewhat realistically). Is it worth deleting my franchise after 15 games and starting over?

Someone previously had mentioned that if you take them and put them in the extra "RP" slots then the CPU won't use them. Other then that I'd assume just sending them down so they aren't in the majors anyways would work as well.

It's actually pretty easy, you can set it up so everything runs automatically just as if you were playing as one owner of just one team but then it allows you to over ride bad trades, make lineup decisions if need be and take care of things like this problem.

It really isn't that much work. It depends on how much control you want. I hate 30 team control. However I started doing it this year and it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be. The only thing I really control is, I watch injuries and if I see a team has a injury. If a team has one, I just make sure they bring the correct person up. Like if a SP is injured, the cpu will put a RP in his place. I'll simply go in and correct it with a SP. Other then that I don't touch anything else. Lineups, rotations, trades, etc all handled by cpu.

Just ran into another issue that 30 team would allow you to fix. Hopefully it's just cosmetic but was looking at the Astros lineup since I play them in the playoffs trying to shuffle my rotation around to match up best with them and they have of all people Brian McCann playing SS according to the lineup in the menu. Now Carlos Correa is injured but they have Marwin Gonzalez playing first with Gurriel on the bench in one lineup and Gurriel at DH and Marwin at first in the other. Seems like it would be a pretty easy fix so hopefully it's just cosmetic and when the game loads it will have a different lineup as I can only imagine how slow McCann will be at SS.

IMO, due to flawed CPU logic, 30 team control is a must. I would never consider playing otherwise.

In my opinion, 30 team control is mandatory just so you can remedy any issues that pop up. How much control is totally up to you, you can have lots or basically none. I'll never play another way.

So when I begin my franchise do I simply "select all" teams? And then what? Do I need to set up every team's lineup and rotation? Do I need to check on every team every day? I currently have scouting and front office stuff set to auto, (as I just want to focus on playing the game), do I have to set that to manual?

Would playing a season instead of a franchise be a better option?

                        Thanks

Just to follow up, Houston did actually play McCann at short for the opening game of the series. He didn't cost them, he only had 2 balls hit his way and one was in the hole by Dyson so he would have never thrown him out anyways. The other ball was right at him and he hesitated flipping it to second to end the inning, had it not been slow footed Cano running to second he might have been safe.

It makes zero logical sense however. I know Tony Kemp doesn't technically play short but he would be a much better option then McCann at the very least. They could also just play Gurriel at first, slide Marwin to short and then DH someone else but I guess they don't wanna do that. I'd consider taking him out right away when the game starts by switching sides but they only have 3 guys on the bench (Beltran, Marisnick and Kemp) so if I do that and they need someone off the bench for any reason they are going to be in serious trouble.

Instead of calling up another fielder for whatever reason they are carrying a 58 rated RP instead lol. He put up good stats during the regular season somehow (1.61 ERA, 1.12 WHIP over 22.1 IP) but I sure as hell wouldn't want that guy anywhere near the field in the playoffs.

Set up a CPU profile with everything set to auto. Lineups all the way down the mode specific list. When you select all, then go to the team you want to control and switch (R stick left or right) that team to your profile. Continue to the franchise as normal. Once you are in your franchise (what I did) go to the last tab and change it to default your profile. Nothing will change on the CPU side of it. With the cpu on auto, it will play as if you are playing a single team. It will allow you though to go in and change things if you want throughout the whole franchise. Control as little or as much as you want with the other teams. Like I said, all I control is making sure that the teams have 5 SP in the rotation after a injury. Other then that, I let whatever trades happen, whatever lineups line up, scouting, drafting, more or less anything outside my team go. As for checking every team, every day, after I finish a day, I go look at the completed transactions from the day and see who was injured if any. Then I go to that team and make sure they brought up/subbed the correct guy. IE: 5 starting pitchers are in the starting rotation.
Oh, also before you play your game, make sure you sim all the days game so the ticker appears at the bottom during your game if you like seeing it.

Lots of ways but probably need to be more specific with what you think is causing it to be too easy. For instance are you always right on 95mph fastballs? Are you making too good of solid contact? Is the CPU hanging too many pitches? Too many HR's?
