Armour, what are your thoughts on using pitching aides like pitch preview? As per my previous post, I thought I found my euphoria, but now I'm thinking I made things too easy. I played 2 games tonight. Tanaka pitched 6 innings and gave up 3 runs in a 12-5 win. I gave up 8 hits, including a homer and 3 doubles. I'm playing the 2nd game and I'm winning 7-1 after 5 innings. Pineda has given up 5 hits including a homer. Yes, my bats are smoking everything and it's a very small sample size, but do you find using things like hot/cold zone make pitching too easy? Is that why you use clear screen?

Ok right I know this is an extremely small sample but I've just given up 10 hr against the orioles in 11 innings (6 in first game and 4 in second and I'm not even out of the 2nd innings). I dunno if it's a combination of this slider adjustment, my 2 months off playing and the OS realism roster by wait till next year that's given me these awful results... I was pitching a hell of a lot better before! That last game btw I lost 10-12 giving up 6 hr and scoring 4 myself! Never had a game like this before!

I think it was rjackson that first made the observation but you might have to try dropping back to All Star pitching when using the realism roster.

Do you think using pitching tools like "pitch preview" (option under hot/cold zone) make pitching too easy? I moved up to pitching on HOF as I found AllStar too easy. I find HOF a little challenging at times (gave up 9 runs in an inning recently), so I started using pitch preview. Have played a few games and haven't given up very many hits/runs. Are my pitchers just hitting their spots all the time or I have I made pitching too easy?

I think use or not use whatever you want in that regard. If you feel you are enjoying the game more with them on so you can have a “scouting” report then do it. But you got to play at least 15-17 games before something is a true trend for you in terms of difficulty....and even then not really enough games in baseball which people need to understand.......The Show is so incredible of capturing the grind of a 162 game season.

If you are going to only play 50-60 games and sim the rest (and I know there are plenty of players who do this...not people who typically use my sliders but in general) you will never feel, experience and enjoy everything The Show does so damn good in simulating the sport of baseball.

The Show is simply the absolute best simulation of any console sports game (and that includes 2K). When you play at least 100-120 games you will absolutely get the statistically random nature of the game of Baseball.

Anything and everything will happen on the diamond. The Show captures that incredibly well.

Couple weeks ago some ( including me ) were on the fence for pitching HoF with CPU contact, power , solid hits at 5,6,6 specially in combination with Realistic roster.

After so many games played , what's you feedback on that ? What settings are finally playing with ?

I know a lot of us have moved on and are not playing the show as much. But I just wanted to point out we all complain about too many home runs this season. And in real life they just broke the all-time home-run record for homeruns in a season so maybe the show had it right all along. LOL

Maybe I’m the only one still playing offline and just loving it . Online sports in general are not for me, not realistic enough. Not the fault of the games but a lot of players just insane. Anyway, that won’t change .

Personally I found a good balance with CPU contact 5, Power 6,SH 5 and my pitching control to 6.

CPU then still have the pop we see this year but not every ball in play is a line drive . I increased control, after paying attention in every real life game I’m watching, on what location the catcher is expecting the pitch and where the pitch is going . Found that control at 6 replicates what I saw .

That’s my taste i wanted to share with you.

I never doubted SDS from right out of the box man.

This game is epic and I still going strong with it and will for years to be frank.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I have a feeling some of the louder people in the community will get their way in next years game, and I think the realism factor in the game is going to suffer for it. I don't really have any huge issues with the game this year at all while playing (WP's are an issue in CPU vs CPU, but that's minimized in user vs CPU). So i feel like I could play this one for years if the series starts to take a downward turn gameplay-wise.

We'll see though. I'd like to think SDS will stick to their guns and not cave in to people trying to make this game too much about user skill.

I have already decided regardless of any pre-release hype.....I am sticking with 17 for most of next year....I will pick up 18 year end 2018....maybe even right before 2019 to transfer my franchise files (if the game is a good enough upgrade to even warrant it).

I have a plethora of classic rosters....simply an amazing selection of incredible retro baseball. I also have 4 great franchises going (1987 Yankees Quest For Donny Baseball Year 3, The Matheny Manifesto Fantasy Cardinals Franchise Year 2, 2017 Yankees Year 2, and soon The Cleveland Indians "Jobu’s Rum” Fictional Franchise Year 1).

I am so pleased with MLBTS17. I still love this game as much as the day it was released.

I feel like I have my ultimate Baseball Console baseball game, chock full of simulation greatness, incredible retro rosters, and simply years of replayabiity.

                              It’s that great.

So enjoy this game everyone......I know I am for probably years to come. I am pretty much coming to the end of the “yearly” sports game cycle now for the PS4.

I really think the development teams of 2K and The Show have maxed it out and IMO are stretched thin anyway with making so many different modes to cater to different types of sports gamers.

I think the push for us for even deeper franchise modes.......is done. I really believe that now.

So with that. I will still be active here in this slider thread for those that decide to stick with The Show 17 next season vs picking up 18.

I have to agree. I'm still loving playing every game and have gone farther and have stayed interested more then any other year. I decided to skip Madden and play the show though March. I'll wait to see actual gameplay and what's new before I decide to get 18'. I won't get rid of 17 though. I plan to go through years and years. I just can't get enough of this years.
