Armor, do you worry about fixing CPU minor league lineups if an injury or call up occurs?

No point. As they do their own call ups and send downs. It'll change anyway.

My record isnt the prettiest and my power has taken a dump on me at the moment but as far as the CPU offense is concerned I'm seeing every end of the spectrum. One start Sonny Gray can't locate his fastball or change and I end up walking 4 in 5 IP. Next game Mike Fiers strikes out 9 in 5 IP but cant get an out to start the 6th and falls apart due to a high pitch count thanks to the high strikeout numbers. One game Wei-Yin Chen throws a 1 hit shutout into the 8th before pulling him due to fatigue, the game is very much addicting now that I've found my sweet spot when it comes to sliders.

To top it all off my team batting average has at least come down to respectable levels (.280) as opposed to where it was the first month of the season (approx .310). Loving the game more then before now that I'm officially done tweaking sliders.
Did you move power and solid hits to 6? Or do you have power at 6 and solid hits at 5? I believe I was having the same issue as you with both at 6. Everything is hit hard. Enciarte from the Braves hit 2 homers off me in one game, off Syndergaard, and he only hit 3 all of last year. Was going to try power at 6 and solid hits at 5.

I'm not in front of my PS but I thought power makes balls go farther faster. So wouldn't you want power 5 and solid hits 6 if your trying to tone down home runs

Thanks for your reply. I see why my post might make you suggest that. But I guess I don't mind the homers as much as the issue of everything is hit HARD! Pitches that jam guys or that are out of the strike zone are being hit for line drives. I use classic pitching on HOF, but am not as skilled as Armour and others, so I likely make more mistakes. I've played (only) 7 games with these sliders both at 6 for both human and CPU, and both teams have yet to get less than 10 hits or less than 4 runs (and as high as 15 runs). It's true, homers are up this year IRL, but I think I need to tone down the solid contact for my "skill" set

You also try tweaking Foul Frequency slider for less hard hits, i have found it more useful then solid contact slider.

My impression is that as of 2 patches ago they made pitch control slightly lower and hitting timing window(and perhaps Solid Contact) slightly bigger to compensate for tiny power nerf.

I can still get 1 hitter with someone like Sale or Price , but that one hit will always be HR, and as soon I or CPU start someone with average to low control and break of each pitch(ex. Volquez), it turns into full blown slugfest. 10+ hits every time with multiple 2b hits and HR's.

I had several games where one or both sides had 4-5 2B hits each (or all hits were 2B and HR's) and rest of the hit outs were all in outfield.

This is my observation for several different slider sets(Mike Lowe's for one) , and not just Armor's.

                      Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

As I mentioned in a previous post, I tried power and solid hits sliders at 6 for both human and CPU for several games and found my games were too high scoring and too many solid hits were occurring for my liking. So I moved solid hits down to 5 for both and started to play the next game in my Mets franchise. After 6 innings it certainly felt different in that there was a noticeable decline in solid hits and it seemed that both sides lost some oomph. Just didn't feel right. So I fast forward the game, move solid hits back up to 6 and start the game over. Well, Granderson hits a walk-off homer and I win 2-1!! Braves managed 4 hits (3 singles and a homer) and I had 5 hits (4 singles and a homer). So this proved to me that I can still have low scoring games with these sliders at 6 and I can pitch at this level. So I'm leaving these sliders at 6 and NEVER touching my sliders again!!

What can I say Armour? I tip my hat to you as you are right again!!

I have power and solid hits at 6 for both the CPU and myself. I really am not finding a HR issue in terms of too many, and in fact am probably not giving up enough still but its a tricky issue. Guys like Fiers, Chen and Smyly who have lower HR/9 ratings give them up at a very realistic pace. Sonny Gray and Paxton who have higher HR/9 ratings give them up at a unrealistically low pace. It is what it is at this point, I'll deal with it as I'm not exactly murdering the ball myself either. I too have given up a few HR's to guys that leave me shaking my head, thing is then I'll have a power hitter up and watch as he fails to square it up and pops it up on the infield for an easy out so it all evens out in the end. I have zero issues with the CPU hitting with it at 6/6 other then a few balls are hit harder then they should be but that's more a physics issue with the game itself and less about the power slider.

I do not have my sliders up, I was collaborating with Trojan Man through PM a month or so ago and tweaked those a bit to match my skill level and have been rolling with them ever since. I tend to keep them to myself as people would claim they are too easy based on the actual numbers themselves but outcome wise I get different results every game. Just played a 2 game series with Washington that saw me lose the opener 6-2 when I couldn't do anything and were it not for a 2-run HR in the 8th I would have been shutout by Roark.

In the second game I found myself down 4-0 with Gio Gonzalez cruising before I chipped away and made it 4-1 and then 4-2. In the eighth I walked with Cozart and Seager finally came around and crushed a 2-run HR to tie the game. Set down the side in the 9th only to have Kurt Suzuki play hero and hit a walkoff HR and the 5-4 win.

As for Armor's sliders his are stellar and are a great starting spot for people to tweak to their own ability levels. If anyone believes they can take his, or anyone elses sliders for that matter, and get perfect results you're only going to find yourself frusrated more often then not. Moral of the story, refrain from saying that someone's sliders are "not so great", it's counter productive and isn't necessary.
