Does anyone know if meter pitching works with these sliders?

I play a game a few games and my favourite player is 0-10, so start over. Or I lose the first 3 games of the season so start over. Swing at a really bad pitch and start over. I win a game too easy and start over. How do you guys get through the urges to start over?

To those of you that can actually play a whole season you certainly have my respect and admiration. I'm starting my Yankee franchise over again tonight. Trying to find the strength to play the whole season!! I'm sick of playing the Rays!!!
I think I have an easier time than most because:

      1. I love the Blue Jays. I bleed blue.

      2. I love the skydome. Weird I know.

      3. I'm okay with their being a disconnect between real life and my team. In fact I love it, because this is my team.

      4. I love managing prospects and adjusting on the fly to injuries and whatnot. You just don't get that over a short sample.

You might really enjoy a fictional roster or a fantasy draft (or both!). Get yourself more connected with your team. As Armor always says, create your own stories. That's what really attaches you to a team.

Thanks for your reply. I'm from Canada, but have always been a Yankees fan. And I think my problem is that I play as the Yankees in my franchise. I get mad if Gary Sanchez goes 0-11 in a series. Get mad if Holliday strikes out with the bases loaded because I swung at a pitch way out of the strike zone. I press too much sometimes. And in my frustration I fast forward to the end of the game. Then I think I need to start my franchise over instead of just starting that game over because that would be cheating. I don't expect to win every game obviously, but I hate when I lose focus and have bad at bats or lose games because I wasn't concentrating. I'm going to start again tonight, say a few prayers and hopefully work my way through a season!!

Another tip: If you're getting frustrated, use the save and exit function as opposed to simming to the end.

I used to be like you, except I would cheat and restart the game. Then one day I made a promise to myself: Whatever happened, happened. I just had to deal. I found making this decision actually improved my gameplay, significantly, as I would have to battle my way back late if I wanted a chance to win.

However, saving and exiting became an essential tool. I have not missed a single AB or pitch since I started my carry over in 2014 (in the 2018 world series right now), but I have saved and exited plenty of games to walk away and calm down, coming back hours, days or even weeks later to finish the game.

FYI I play the show year round, so that helps too.

          Edit: P.S. You traitor!

Lol. I was a Yankees fan long before the Jays had a team (yes I'm old)

Thanks for the tip - I'll have to start saving games when I get frustrated. But here is a classic example of my struggles

Playing game 2 of the Rays opening series (for the 100th time) last night. I lost the 1st game 3-2 in extra innings. Holliday is up to bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. It's the 7th inning and I'm down 5-4. I'm up 2-0 in the count and sitting on a fastball and feeling pretty pumped up. And then, of all things, my cat jumps on my lap. I lose my focus and swing at a high fastball that was out of the zone. I pop up to the 1b man. After giving some serious thought of sending my cat to an early grave, I fast forwarded to the end of the game, deleted my franchise and went to bed, feeling very frustrated. Now I can't wait to get home after work to start all over again.

Hopefully this time I can make some progress as I haven't made it past the Rays series YET and I've had the game since May. Yes, I have issues!!

            Thanks again!!

I used to have the same problem. But in 2017 I committed and got in so deep that now I don't have the choice to start over.

First I simulated a bunch of franchises and played around with the budget, trades, etc, just to see how things played out. Played a lot of exhibition games while I was waiting on the Hybrid rosters so knew how the game played and got through the biggest gameplay patches. Then, after a bunch of roster editing and tweaking, I was ready to start.

Before I played a single inning in my Franchise I went through all 30 teams and manually injured the players who were on the DL on opening day. This took a while, once that was done I was committed. Wasn't doing that twice.

It helps that I am playing with the Braves so I have no expectation of being good in 2017. Also, I am using 30 team control so I can make sure things go the way I want and I can even switch to another team if I get tired of things in Atlanta.

People go 0-10. They go 1-20 and 5-50. It's baseball. Seeing other players step up and carry you, that's the best part of this game. Enjoy it.

Thanks for the tip. I'm using 30-team control for the first time this year. After reading some of the issues on this thread with single team control I deleted my f started over. And every time I delete my franchise I have to go in and change lineups for all 30-teams before I can start playing. That certainly adds to my frustration in starting over all of the time, but I just can't seem to get over it he hump and get passed the first few games of the season. Hopefully it starts tonight.

                Thanks again

It definitely seems that the consensus is to raise solid hits by one click. I think I'm going to give this a go. Thanks for the advice. I'm on shift tonight but I'll be home without kids/wife for the next two days. Hoping to log some serious hours.

I actually raised it by 2 but I'm also hitting on HOF so there's that to consider. I'm considering putting it back down to 6 though because I'm still hitting with relative ease at times, the competition itself hasn't been the greatest for sure but at the same time I'm just too damn good with Jarrod Dyson and Dee Gordon for whatever reason. Now if the CPU would jam Gordon and Dyson I wouldn't have near the same level of success but for whatever reason they bring in the third baseman to cover for the drag then pitch me away making it easy to just slap the ball right past the drawn in defender. When they actually do jam them inside and I swing I guarantee it's an out far more often then it isn't.

I have jumped back and forth a couple times to Zone hitting (which is the interface I used for years) but it's almost too easy and I never strike out. I really want to use Directional because it takes the players attributes into account more but I'm quite literally to the point where I'm not having any fun whatsoever playing this game.

This is a drastic change from earlier updates. I used Directional for the entirety of the 2017 season and mashed the ball. I led the Majors in home runs. Schwarber had 56, Rizzo had 51, and Bryant had 42. But since the 1.10 update I'm 18th in the league in home runs and last in in doubles. I just can't get any hits and I score very few runs.

Again, I'm not new to The Show. I've played it since 2008 and before that I pretty much played every baseball game there has been since the late 80's. I say that just to emphasize the point that I'm not bad at baseball games.

But watching my highly rated players like Bryant, Rizzo, and Schwarber CONSISTENTLY make poor contact on the ball when I have "good," timing is about to drive me absolutely insane.

I really need some help with my offense. I've read through a lot of the Directional hitting thread on the main page. Part of me thinks that just maybe I'm in some kind of extended slump. But often times I almost feel like the game is predetermined using Directional hitting and my input has no influence whatsoever.

Been using these sliders since game 1 of my franchise with the blue jays, at the trade deadline now.

In the 'Make trade' screen, what does that 'Max Offer' number refer to? It's next to the cash flow number, had a google but can't find an answer.

Really enjoying the sliders, even though I have no chance of making playoffs being 44-62. My pitching generally has been ok, had a few rough patches but my offense is really inconsistent though I think most of the Jays batters have a low contact ratings so some games I struggle for hits. Power team so I am tied for 1st for home runs. Which is fine.

One question about the sliders I do have is about the starter stamina. My starters rarely have a full bar of stamina for their next start unless I had to pull them early. But if they go 7 innings or 100 pitches then for their next start, they'll be short of a full bar of stamina. Is this a case of maybe upping the starter stamina slider up a notch or is it me not managing my starters incorrectly? The CPU starters always have a full bar before a game so it feels I'm at a slight disadvantage.

I'm using both sets of sliders, one for playing in game and one for simming. Is there a way of increasing how quickly they regain stamina during their off days?

I use directional hitting and was using the left stick on every pitch but started to really struggle at one point I had 4 games only scoring 1 run. Then I decided to go back to pressing X (still on directional) and use the left stick in certain situations (moving the runners etc). Things have improved since.

Fist game with solid hits on 6... I'm really hoping that this was just a fluke but I hit five home runs and won, 14-7. It was quite literally one extreme to the other. Absolutely no good contact on 5 and then mashing everything on ridiculous levels at 6. The wind was blowing out to dead centerfield at 10 mph so hopefully that was part of it.

Also, regarding Zone. Yeah, I've played with Zone for years but the problem is that I never strike out using Zone. The timing window is much too large and it's just too easy to make contact.
