Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Two game test last night with 1.5 slider set, but with one tweak.
Red Sox v Phillies with Wright and Bucholz matched up. Phillies win 1-0 scoring on a fielders choice in the 8th inning. I had 4 hits, they had 6.
Yankees and Red Sox at Fenway Pineda V Rodriguez. Yankees win 4-0 with 6 hits to my 3.
Things I noticed... There were no homeruns in the game at all. I can't hit, or score runs. I may need to revisit my strategy at the plate, because I am barren up there. Barren like a 60 year old spinster. More testing needed, but I did something I really like for game three.
I moved the Human Pitcher Control and Consistency down to 2. My feeling was that even though my offense was not good in the first two games, my pitcher's control with the Classic Pitching was too good. No walks, and I never, even with a knuckleballer, felt like I was in trouble finding corners and spots. So, I decided to drop the two Human pitching controls down to 2, and fired up a game with Chris Sale on the mound against the Jays. The white knuckle ride that followed with Sale struggling to find his slider, but dominating with his two seamer was worth the price of admission. I had to actually try and mix in the slider in counts I was ahead to bring the confidence of that pitch back up to where I could get it close to where I needed it. I finally corralled the slider in the third inning, and Sale ended up taking the loss, but striking out 11 in a 3-0 loss.
Immediately afterwards, I threw Drew Pomerantz out there, and he immediately got himself into a 34 pitch first inning, barely escaping a beses loaded jam by giving up one run. He eventually lost 5-1 and JBJ finally hit a homerun, but at a respectable 355 feet.
I need to work on hitting and looking for pitches to drive with my Red Sox offense, but I am firmly ensconced in the Pitcher Settings on 2 for the time being. It was nerve wracking to the point of really having a hard time with the big hitters at the plate, wondering how the hell I was going to get them out, when I just couldn't get a handle on my control. But when I settled in, it was a thing of beauty.
Not telling anyone what to do with their sliders, but if you have a chance to run a game or two with the human pitcher settings here, I think you'll find it to be a new twist to an already brilliant game. Plus, as we kind of nerfed the CPU's Power and Solid hits, my feeling was that the lack of perfect control would lend itself to a few more mistakes, and that would buffer the power outage by making pitchers pay when their control went awry.
So far, I am so hooked on this game, just need my boys to start looking for good pitches to hit, and quit swinging at pus.

I also used quick counts in order to throw and draw more walks, but regardless definitely lowering those sliders for pitching is a good plan basing off previous years with this game.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
Hey everyone. I think we have a great base set here with 1.5 but......but....we are still in the heavy testing phase.
Things I am still testing are:
CPU Pitcher Hook Logic - I am going to test this slider at 4 in many games over the next week.
CPU Offense - I am going to test CPU contact moved up to 6 in combination with our new reduced power at 4 and timing at 3, solid hits at 3. I want to make sure we do not neuter the CPU’s offense and I want to make sure you pay for mistake pitchers with higher contact!
Other than those things I love where fielding and throwing are at. I am seeing some really great and untimely errors as we should. Errors are made every day in almost every game in the Major Leagues.
Small sample size I know, but apparently something you seem to be noticing too.

But now, especially after having my fantasy baseball draft last night, I'm ready for baseball and if it's good enough for A&S it's good enough for me! It's time for Dodger baseball!Comment

I'm mashing the ball on HOF with these sliders. I'm not usually this good. I'm the jays and it's versus the brewers so maybe that's it... I've never played on HOF level in my life.

I wouldnt base anything off just one game. I saw someone mention 10 games. I think that is probably a good test. Also I personally go through hot and cold streaks in the show so that could be a thing as well."Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!"

I broadcast a cpu vs cpu game using 1.5 last night. Pretty standard Kershaw dominating affair. He went 8 strong while the pads Chacin only lasted 4. Pretty nice defensive play at 49:20 tho

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider
What's your definition of "early"? What were the circumstances?
I chased Kershaw after 5 last night, but he didn't have his good stuff, and had given up 5ER and 9H thru 5 and his spot was up in the order and he was at 87 pitches. I was up 5-2. Under those circumstances I don't think I'd have kept him in.
Otherwise in my 7 test games (small sample still) I haven't seen any issues with pulling a pitcher early.
In the 2 games I completed last night, I thought the CPU pulled the SP earlier than necessary.
Small sample size I know, but apparently something you seem to be noticing too.
