    Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

Sliders are playing great, but I need some help with my pitching. I am currently using classic from broadcast view but I do have the strike zone on and the ball trail fade on. I am hardly ever, maybe 15%, hitting my spots and I pitch almost always what the catcher calls, I just like this part of the game but maybe its the problem. I am walking like 5-7 batters every game, but also getting nice K numbers with it, 7-10. I also have 5+ wild pitches almost every game...Sometimes I tap, hold, max, etc. there doesn't seem to be any consistency no matter what I try however. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

      Honestly?

      Practice, practice, and more practice.

Sit tight and I will give you some pointers. Also read the Classic Pitching thread on the OP!!

Incredible resource on theories about classic pitching.

I will say this though. I do not subscribe to holding the pitch button down till his release point.

        Nope.

Also since 16 you can pitch with the specific pitch button eg: curve is the triangle button. So I do that.

But here is a quick pro tip.

On change ups, sliders and curves I range from a tap to one second hold 95% of the time to get the best "controlled" movement.

When I want a pitch to be truly filthy I hold till the rumble

As someone completely new to the franchise, would these sliders be something I should use? I of course want a realistic game but I at the end of the day I want to enjoy myself.

Would you suggest learning the game first and then using these or just jumping straight in?

What I like to do is try and find my pitchers best release point which I feel is right before the full power vibration. I try to release as close to this point as I can without going full power. You have to learn your pitchers wind ups to be able to do this. I really don't know if this works or may be just in my mind but I do have pretty good results with it. I pitch on HOF with a clean screen. I'm sitting 3rd in the league in ERA 3.19 top 5 in walks and middle of the pack in SO in my 80's Flashback Season carry over middle of June 82' Braves. I used Dynamic Difficulty with Armor's sliders to find my sweet spot when it first came out a couple of years ago.

You have to play a ton of games! My hitting settled in at All Star and Pitching HOF after about a couple of months of a season. I continue with those levels today with Armor's sliders and have incredibly realistic games. The beauty of Classic pitching is sometimes your pitcher is just off and has a hard time hitting his spots no matter what you do. When he is on however there is no better feeling in this game of dominating. Works the same way with hitting when your player is on he crushes that middle in fastball into the upper deck. When he is cold though you just foul it off. Realistic gameplay!! I love it

I realize this is a thread about a specific set of sliders, but it is extremely active and I am wondering if anyone out there has uploaded or would upload a fairly accurate roster with only 25 players on the 40 man? I absolutely hate to have to reshuffle players after spring training and I couldn't care less about minor leagues. The sliders are working great for me, by the way.

I would suggest Dynamic Difficulty with Armor's sliders to get the feel of the game. Later you can settle on best levels for you. It's not about leveling up but getting the game to adjust to your playing style and ability..

Franchise or season doesn't matter and I'm using 30 team control. I just want things to stay the way they are supposed to with no changes.

Thanks for the specifics on pitching. I'll try the adjustments... one thing I have been thinking may screw me up is I am pretty strapped for time so I play really fast. I use fast play and I call a pitch and throw it right away, I don't allow the pitcher to set or anything so I'm not sure if this may be part of the problem as well. Thoughts on that aspect?

I don't know of any rosters out there yet. Unfortunately keeping everything the same is hard to achieve without some work. The reason I ask about franchise or season is because season only has AAA to deal with since you said you didn't care about minors. I would say the easiest way to get 25 roster instead of 40 is to go into roster control and cut every team down to 25 save and use that roster. It's some work but that will keep you close all season..
