Clean screen pitching is a glorious thing. It adds so much. This is my first year pitching this way and I don't ever see myself going back.

This could be part of your struggle. Like anything else when you try and hurry you make more mistakes. You may want to try Quick Counts instead of fast play if your strapped. These sliders work great for that mode as well. I don't use them myself as I like the full at bats but have played with them quite a bit in the past. Let that pitcher get set! You have to get the feel of your pitchers to be successful. My 2 cents anyway.. I only button mash when I'm getting lit up and it gets worse when I do that..Calm down and settle in..

I would say the easiest way to get 25 roster instead of 40 is to go into roster control and cut every team down to 25 save and use that roster. It's some work but that will keep you close all season..
Yes I know all of those things and they are a total pain to deal with. Usually someone posts a 25 man roster on the 40 man so that none of that stuff happens. I have zero interest in minor leagues and stuff like that, so I wish they would just make a version where you could avoid all of that.

          Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

          Hey Shownation....my sincere apologies.

Version 2.0 is updated one more time. I mis-read my test game slider note log and made a mistake putting human and CPU timing at 4.

It is at default 5 as well as CPU and Human Contact at 5. The only thing I tweaked and settled on was solid hits at 4 for both the CPU and HUM. And power at 4 for both.

I went back to default timing because I tested it over and over and came to the conclusion that the CPU was swinging too early on too many pitches. It basically neutered the CPU offense. I saw a rise in K's from below average pitchers. Nope...does not work for me.

The only change from default on All-Star hitting that I can endorse is power at 4 for both CPU and Human. That will give some separation on power ratings. And Solid Hits at 4 for both to make you earn hits on the outer and inner corners on the black and on pitches out of the zone.

You have to remember.....I play almost every game, every pitch. Baseball is all about standard deviation and a reversion to the mean. It is what separates your elite players from average and below average major league players.

A perfect example of this is last season on MLB 16 in my fantasy Cardinals franchise. Brock Holt had an incredible April for me. Batted .320 had 5 HR's and 12 RBI's. You would think whoa....Brock Holt?

By year end he was a platoon player for me and ended the season .270 7 HR's 40 RBI's

That April was his best month and the rest of the season he was the normal solid scrappy Brock Holt.

Honestly......the game plays incredible. In regards to the HR controversy in the main forum....Yes...the bombs are pretty far fetched but this was a design decision IMO with the Show track feature. I really believe the mathematics under the hood are causing the longer distances. Sliders will do nothing to make HR's less for a lack of a better term....majestic. Just frequency can be cut down with contact at 4. But I don't feel cutting HR's is the answer because over the course of 162 games the number will be pretty spot on.

Other than that hitting at default All-Star is a blast and very sim IMO. If someone feels they are hitting too good simply move up to HOF. But I can assure you if people played at least 100-120 games they would see great variety. It is quite possible All-Star may be nerfed down this season.....but until I play at least 60-70 games...I can't come to a true conclusion. And those that want to poo poo sample size.....then move on. Because baseball is a sport that demands sample size.

162 games people. There is a reason for this. The variables you get over the course of this marathon is what makes baseball such an amazing sport.

For those that use these sliders and hitting technique for RTTS:

Since directional hitting mostly takes into account the player's ratings, are you able to do well initially since your ratings start out not so great? Meaning, how is the progression using your new ratings and can you get to MLB level in a decent amount of time?

I've only played a couple series' in my RTTS, but they're playing just fine. In fact, I'm kinda lighting up AA pitching so far. Keep in mind that I have multiple pieces of equipment that make my attributes significantly better, so who knows if it'll get harder as I move up, but I see no issue with them in RTTS.

I have seen a big variety of bunts this year. I have been playing in the National League so I have seen a lot. I have had some that are bunted hard and I could get the runner at second some DP too. I have also seen perfect SAC bunts where only play is at first. I have also seen a couple bunted into the air. Not to many for hits but a couple of those as well. I can tell they have worked on it compared to past years. Bunting ability rating seems to mean more this year for sure.

So here's a question for those in the know....

Does the time of year ie: (April, May, June etc..) games, have anything to do with carry/distance/homeruns as far as the programming goes?

Balls that fly out of the parks in real life in the dog days of summer and the less-dense air, stay in the park and die in the outfield in April.

Any chance our homerun distances are being affected by the game-time temps?

If so, how freaking cool is that?

I can't stand playing without licensed equipment. So bland w/o it. I almost wish it didn't provide attribute upgrades, but rather we could just use w/e we want.

Every year I create a custom schedule of play now games and pitching matchups (about 20 games) to play just to test out sliders and get a feel for the game while waiting to start my franchise when OSFM comes out. I keep track of my results and have been using these sliders the entire time so I just thought I'd share my results.

I'm obviously the Yankees every time haha. Lots of low scoring games so far.

.500 team.....looks sim to me! They should hover around that. Things will need to break perfectly injury wise and a few of our starters will need to play above their projected talent. Otherwise I expect a tough season and trying to grind out 85 wins will be a task with the Baby Bombers. If I can somehow pull off a wildcard spot...I will be thrilled.

Nice feedback BTW. Scores can say a lot. And my goal is always to have great games, and a few blowouts as well. This pattern follows that goal.

Enjoy 17.....and I lok forward to firing up my 2017 Yankees Franchise as well after OSFM drops.

I've been using these sliders since day for my RTTS and at first I struggled with hits cuz of my rating but I'm now past the half way mark of my AA season and slowly and surely my guy getting better! I love these sliders for my RTTS. Makes the game feel realistic and attributes affect the game and all players. Hope this helps
