A quick update on my Marlins franchise:
As of July 5th, we're now on a 5-game winning streak and have won 8 out of our last 10 games overall. While we are still 13.5 games back of the Nationals, we've climbed to within 5.5 games of the wildcard.
We have 6 hitters who are currently hot which has helped a ton; Hechevarria has been on a tear after his putrid start to the season, and Stanton is now up to 30 HRs, Dee Gordon 50 steals.
I've been playing Stanton a lot more at 1B which has helped with his endurance (so has training).
We've hit 3 grand slams in the last 5 games, 1 by Yelich and 2 by Carlos Santana; the most recent of which while trailing in the 8th inning.
One of the more interesting tidbits I'm noticing has come while pitching: I'm finding a lot more success pitching lower in the effectiveness zone which has allowed me to paint the corners more and even get more strikeouts.
I'm keeping my eye on the trade market as I'm stuck in between being a buyer and being a seller. We still have 3-4 weeks to let the dust settle, but if we continue to pull closer to the wildcard, I may look to add a piece or two.
