I noticed the difference immediately. Through 4 games though, I've had to work counts again and wait for my pitch when I am ahead. Seeing about 60% first pitch strike again, and the cpu pitcher working to get outs again. I felt that before I was seeing too many drivable pitches per inning/game. I'll start keeping a few numbers, and boxes and post them if you'd like.

I had the same thought and this was the first thing I tried when I got the game on Friday. I used them on Hall of Fame and played several games. My buddy did the same thing at his house and we both demolished the CPU every game.
Our BaBip's were up around .500 in that small sample size, but just by the feel of it felt like BP every game.

We tried turning down Human contact a notch and after that bumped up CPU control. Seems like we are effortlessly hitting well, still. I can be distracted with a conversation with someone and still rack up the hits. Also seems to both of us the CPU is throwing a ton of strikes so we don't have to work counts before we slap a line drive to the outfield.

(I'm not complaining, I'm actually encouraged that it's not the same as 17. This game to me has a completely different feel across the board, so sliders will be much different for me than last year. That's a good thing. I'm actually seeing defensive errors! )

Since then I've been adjusting to try to make it more of a challenge. Fielder speeds are at default now and baserunner speed down a notch.

My hit variety has been 34% FB, 35% Line Drives, and 31% FB. That's way off from where it needs to be.If I can get the line drives to come down I may be in business. Im trying Legend at the moment to see if it helps any.

What are you running on the pitching and hitting sliders out of curiosity?

I Started out with Lowes on HOF. After trying Contact lower and lower, I've bumped it back up to 5 to try legend.

            Currently I am at:
            Human Contact 5
            H Power 5
            H Timing 0
            H Foul Freq 5
H Solid Hits 3 to try to get these line drive numbers down.

CPU pitching is now being tried at Control 7, hoping for less meatballs and more painting..
Consistency will be tried at 3 this game, like last year. I had it even lower to test it and got about 61% strikes. But 1st strikes were only in the 30-40% range. I may end up closer to default on this, but on default we were getting in the 70% strike area so I've been experimenting.

Strike Frequency hasn't been touched by me this year, since it's been at 5 on Lowe's Sliders every year and has yielded the perfect strike %. But if I can't accomplish the right ratio with Consistency i may need to break down and lower it

I just recently came across your sliders. I try to play out a full 162 game season myself. I find that it is difficult to get the CPU to walk a batter. I'm always almost dead last with walks. How is the walk rate with CPU pitching on your sliders? What sliders would I need to adjust to increase walk rates slightly? I've bottomed out all the CPU pitching sliders with very little luck.

Hey fellas, not to hijack this topic, but I don't think Mike is still supporting these for 2018. You might wanna give my Legend sliders for 2018 a shot.

I think we're all looking around and trying to find a slider set like Mike's. One of the items I liked the best was this set gave a great sim experience for all of the other teams in a Franchise. For example, we know BP usage is still an issue along with number of innings pitched. I've simmed franchise seasons trying to get a baseline and I've had multiple seasons where 40+ starters reach 200 innings. I think last year we saw 15-18 pitches reach that benchmark. I've also seen dozens of RPs go over 100 innings. Those items are some of things I look for in a slider set and found with Mike's.

With Mike in hiatus, I gave Padgoi’s legend set a go last night & they’re strong... If you compare Padgoi & Mike’s final sets last season, they were very comparable.

Still a HUGE supporter on Mike Lowe & his contributions here & wish there a a Batman’ish Mike Lowe signal we could point in the sky

How are your sliders with directional hitting?

I can assure you the walks are there for the taking. As long as you are using Lowe's 17 sliders on '17. Lowes 17 sliders throw too many strikes on 18, just based on my experience.

The key is patience. Work counts, dont swing at first pitches all the time, look for your pitch, dont swing at pitcher's strikes. His settings have given the perfect MLB strike to ball percentage in two different franchises I played. I keep track of every single pitch independent of the game. I would not mess with his pitching sliders unless you are hitting everything. I average over 3 walks per game, with some games getting 0 walks and others getting 5 or more walks. It's just easy to get swing happy and have short AB's.

I use directional, so I don’t know how well these will work for me. I would think that it would not make that big of a difference.

I've never used Directional, but honestly they should work similarly.

I ended up getting the game and am working on a set for folks for Opening Day, or at least for when OSFM is ready.
