I was mashing last night.....just absolutely crushing the ball as a team. Patch 1.11 has had no effect that I can see that has negatively affected the game. Each update IMO has tweaked and tuned the game, better and better and better IMO. Forget the online whiners posting, forget the anal retentive stat nuts. You can't win with those types. And believe me I love stat's as much as the next guy.....but if you are going to have human/user input it will never be where you think. It will just play out they way it will. And most of the time it is good enough for me. I have already accepted that I will never lead the league in strikeouts (hitting), I will always seem to be one of the teams that hits into more DP's, I will always be one of the pitching staff's that seems to walk the fewest guys. Whatever. I am having far too much fun to chase stats and sacrifice my fun and my great gameplay and variety. This game is golden near and at default on all the sliders. Trust me. It is.

I am one of the few it seems that has simply been playing, and playing and playing and not questioning anything too much. The ebb's and flow of an MLB season are crazy. I know baseball...and I know expect the unexpected.

If you get too caught up with the statistical side and forget...."Am I having a great time and enjoying the game" you will never be happy.

Just play the game. Trust the settings and again....if you are not playing every game and are a play one sim 5 guy....you will never, ever get the full experience of the hit variety, pitching streaks, hitting streaks, injuries, errors etc etc.

      Simply won't happen.

This game demands you play 100-120 games at least to really see, feel and experience the marathon that is an MLB baseball season.

For what its worth, just based off of these threads, I think the "crushing" you are referring is actually the exact negative effect that many people are referring to, and most common complaint that Ive read.

The point about the 100-120 games to see the full experience and results is very true. Which i think is why people are growing weary of changes to gameplay after just a fraction of that amount of games. They never get to see that large of a sample before something else changes.

To me, there isnt a lot of difference between the frowned-upon practice of making a bunch slider changes throughout the season to improve the game, and downloading several different gameplay patches to improve the game.

On another note i actually have nearly struck out more than any other team and my GIDP is below average. Im a stat "nut" and i am seeing very realistic stats across the board.

I just try to see both sides because both have very valid points for how they play.

            This.

Yes, there will always be trade offs. I make them all the time. There's stats I care about a lot because they help my experience, and there's some I would like to get right but are probably "off" because of side effects.

I'm experiencing that on Legend - my K% is pretty accurate but I'm swinging and missing too much. But when attempts to "fix" it cause more problems - not worth it.

I mean I will probably never be under league average for walks without making pitchers all Greg Maddux. I compared my swing tendencies to last year's MLB stats...I'm close to Tony Pham (me: 17% chase, Pham: 19%, me: swing at 62% of strikes, Pham: 59%). My walk rate is like his. Works for me.

Need to git gud and get to Trout's 19% though.

And sim engine...well that doesn't cross my vision. Until we can control it like in OOTP...yeah...my GIDP rate is on par with MLB average and I'm near last in the game. E on the sim engine.

Well said Armour. Just play the game! And look at things that have happened IRL lately. Judge strikes out 8 times in a double header (and was in a 1-20 slump), Astros bullpen blows an 8-3 lead in the last 2 innings, Yanks and Jays are tied 0-0 after 12 innings, etc. Unexpected things do happen and as they say in the Show - “there are no delete or rewind buttons in baseball”. I’m having a blast with your sliders and Hybrid rosters.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

Started my Jays franchise today using Armors slider set along with Cycloniac's TrueSim Roster set. On my Jays franchise from last years game (this isn't a carry over) I played all 162 games for the first time, using armors sliders. Struggled with my batting all season long, ending with a losing season 71-91, was fun playing at least.

If it's ok with Armor, could I post my box scores in here? Not sure if I will post every game, will see. Not posted a box score, so hope I have inputted everything correctly.

First game was mostly a pitchers duel between Happ and Severino. Until Severino lost his command in the bottom of the 6th and gave up a couple of walks to load the bases. With Kahlne coming in, Matty tells me how he limits the long ball, next pitch, Grand slam Grichuk. Thanks Matty V.

Focusing on not striking out as much in this years game, I'm usually terrible especially when my good hitters are at the plate, trying to force something to happen.

Nice to start off with a win.

@nbacoventry It’s only my point of view but may i suggest you have a separate thread for this ? I will be one of your follower for sure, it’s always fun to follow a season progression ( even more when i started mine as a Blue jays as well ).

That way you won’t be scared to post those long boxscore as much as you want and a lot easier for us to follow you.

By experience i used to follow another another Sliders thread who’s posting as well ALL or most of his boxscore and it becomes very difficult to follow after a little while.

Just a little question, are you using Directional Hof /Classic Hof ?

Again too many posts "over there” are instant reactions based off minute sample sizes.

I have played over 100 games already between my various franchises and my experience has been very very consistent with the game through all the updates. I am going through the normal ebb and flow of a baseball season.....paralysis by analysis is so frequent these days.

                      Just my opinion.

Couldn't agree more....I am 48-38 in my Cubs Franchise...every pitch every inning..I am 3.5 gb of Milwaukee. I would not be this far in my season or more importantly, having a BLAST if I were to pick the stats apart after every 3-5 games. I honestly can't wrap my mind around that concept to be honest. But ta couple slider makers' methods would drive me insane....yes, there are anomalies...it's baseball...funny thing is....many times the makers with slideritis end up back to close to the sliders they started with, but about 4 or 5 restarts too.... I feel these folks are cheating themselves...

Perfectly said. Bottomline IMO this I's the best sports video game ever. I'm in mid August and have played every game. I've seen so many amazing things just like IRL. I've had winning streaks losing streaks injuries. My team has mashed for entire month my pitching staff was the best in the league for one month than probably the worst the next. I haven't touched the sliders in who knows how long. Just play the season out and you will get everything baseball has to offer.
