Yankees Snap 5 Game Losing Streak As Tanaka Pitches Complete Game

Aaron Judge cranked his 32nd HR on the season en route to a 7-1 Yankees win to salvage a 4 game series from the Rays. The Bombers had been losers of their last 5 games while the surging Rays had won 9 of their last 10 and 8 in a row. Brett Gardner hit his 9th HR and Aaron Hicks had a double and triple with 3 RBI’s. Masihiro Tanaka was brilliant striking out 14 Rays en route to a complete game.

    9 IP 1ER 1BB 14K was his final line.

The Yankees begin a 3 game set vs the Mariners. This will be their first meeting with Seattle since the Mariners eliminated the Yankees in game 5 of Year 1’s ALDS.

Loving these sliders man. 6 games into my Ms franchise and I’m 4-2. The variance is awesome. Lost to mad bum 1-6 as he tossed a complete game with 8 Ks. Next game I shell the twinkies 5-1 as nelly hit two bombs and big maple tossed a cg.

OK, so..........I'm in June, 30 team control. Start of a series, so I give my opponents lineups and staff a once over. But this time I noticed they (KC) had zero players on the DL.....Strange. To my horror, no one does. Nobody is even hurt except the straight up infirmary I've got going on in MN....What? How? Help?

Here is an idea. Don’t start over! Just manually injure all the real life guys on each teams current DL. Then remember to set injuries back to ON. Keep playing!

2 games played in my 1987 season with the Expos, great so far... even if we lost both games.

First, a 5-2 defeat, gave 4 homeruns but the wind was 11 mph so it's ok.

Second game, Bill Gullickson threw a gem (2 hits in 7.2 innings). They bring in the closer. Scored 2 runs on a 2-outs blooper by Casey Candaele.

Bottom of the 9th, I bring Tim Burke for the save. Eric Davis hits a single, but Dave Parker hits in a Double Play.

So, 2 outs, everything is OK. Buddy Bell hits a single.... Bo Diaz also, but the ball goes through the center fielder who didn't even try to stop the rolling ball. A triple (at least give an error).... and a tie game with the winning run on third.

Terry Francona break his bat, the ball goes right on the third base line for an infield hit and the win. I know, there's no comeback code but it's frustrating.

              BBBBBUUUUUTTTT.........

Your sliders are excellent, challenging, hard to master. Can't wait to play my third game!

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

So I restarted my franchise with the Yankees with the hybrid rosters. I am using the sliders exactly on the OP. I have played 39 games and the Yankees are 25-14. 1.5 games behind the Red Sox in the middle of May. We just finished a 3 game series with the Red Sox and took 2 out of 3. Here are some of the stats. I don’t know if I’m just in a hitting slump and pitching good cause both BABIP is low for the last 10 games. I am at .242 and the CPU is at .239 the last 10 games. The batting average the last 10 games is .218 for me and .223 for the CPU so that is low.

                Human:
                BABIP: .291
                Avg: .254 14th
                Home Runs: 53 5th 1.4/game 24.3/At Bat
                Walks: 158 2nd 4.1 per game
                Strikeouts: 301 8th 7.7 per game
                ERA: 4.07 18th
                HR allowed: 50 28th
                Walks: 89 2nd 2.3 per game
                Strikeouts: 346 4th 8.9 per game

                Hit percentages:
                Singles: 63%
                Doubles: 19.6%
                Triples: 1.2%
                Home Runs: 16.2%
                Extra base hits: 9.4%

                CPU:
                BABIP: .290
                Avg: .254
                Home Runs: 50 1.3/game 26.8/at bat
                Walks: 89 2.3 per game
                Strikeouts: 346 8.9 per game

                Hit percentages:
                Singles: 65.9%
                Doubles: 18.3%
                Triples: 0.9%
                Home Runs: 15.2%
                Extra base Hits: 8.4%

                Errors:
                Human: 0.4 per game
                CPU: 0.3 per game

                Players:
                Gardner .299 2 HR 15 RBI
                Judge .270 9 HR 19 RBI
                Stanton .311 13 HR 29 RBI
                Sanchez .242 12 HR 40 RBI
                Gregorius .254 2 HR 18 RBI
                Walker .295 2 HR 10 RBI
                Bird .235 4 HR 13 RBI
                Hicks .192 3 HR 13 RBI
                Torres .241 2 HR 16 RBI
                Andujar .206 3 HR 8 RBI

                Severino 3-1 3.33 era
                Tanaka 3-2 3.70 era
Cessa 2-1 3.55 era (took over for Montgomery who was struggling)
Gray 5-2 4.34 era (started out slow but has been pitching well as of late)
                Sabathia 3-0 5.03 era

I like my stats so far but I’m worried about my low BABIP. It is around .270 the last 20 games and .280 the last 30 games. Even the CPU is low but still good for the year. I’m averaging 6.7 hits per game. Any ideas? Should I make any adjustments? I don’t want to go too long and alter the stats if my BABIP doesn’t get any better. I am hitting a lot of pop ups with good timing.

Omg I can't hit anymore. I've been in a slump for over a month and a half now. I think I have only hit 2 hr in the last 9 games. I have 12 games left in the season and trail the nationals by a half game. I need to hit

                    .291 overall, .270-.280 in the last 30.

That's not too far from .300. That's probably 1 more hit per game?

If the pop-ups are what's doing it, then maybe raise solid hits by 1?

But .291 overall is pretty much in the wheelhouse, considering variance.

So far the range of BABIPs in the real game right now is .274 to .316.

Honestly, I'd leave it. I might would accept the popups if any changes would screw up too much elsewhere. They might also even out and that good timing will start resulting in good contact.

If certain batters are prone to them, you could try a down influence to see if it alleviates the problem some. Likewise if it happens on certain counts, especially if you're behind in the count.

I've never used Classic pitching and never really hit beyond AS. Decided to start a Yankees franchise and 6 games in was about to complain about pitching still being too easy as my team era was under 2. Then in game 7 my pen barfed all over the field and gave up 4 runs in the late innings to the Rays.

Wasn't hitting much and then next game scored 9 and hit 3 bombs. I know it takes a much bigger sample size but love the variance. After exclusively using meter pitching I dont think I'll go back from Classic. Really enjoying it.

Yeah that’s true. It might do more harm than good. So I said that the CPU has a .250 BABIP the last 10 games, next game Sabathia gives up 10 hits in 6 innings. Only gave up 3 runs so he limited the damage. They were single runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th all with 2 outs. Drove me nuts!

On years past, during prolonged slumps (specifically individuals) I would utilize that batting practice mode, and it would work wonders on getting my timing back. I would sit in there until I got at least a bronze in all 3 modes. I miss that

Classic is definitely the way to go. If you haven't already, read the OP regarding classic pitching and the way it was intended to be used. IMO it enhances the pitcher /batter chess game. To me its a game within the game. Enjoy!

Hey A&S, just wanted to praise you again on the strength of these sliders. About 60 games into the Gold 4.0 sliders (franchise, full 9-innings).

The results have been nicely varied although the one thing I'm struggling with is strikeouts to walks frequency when on defense. My pitchers are far too efficient. It's not needling corners though, I frequently throw outside the strikezone but rather AI hitter recognition. They seriously swing at anything, sometimes stuff at their face.

                                How can we fix this?
