pre patch with these sliders i was seeing every kind of hit you could imagine.
Very very organic had the feeling anything could happen.
Since patch it seems like 17 again
everything is a hard grounder or a pop fly.
not seeing the top spin or back spin pre patch.
Is it my mind playing tricks or anyone else seeing this?

I've only played 2 games after the patch but I was thinking the exact same thing.

I’ve only played a few games as well but still see a nice variety. My only issue is the camera angle on homers. I’ve only hit 3 but every time the angle has been a low camera angle of guy trotting to 1st base. I would prefer to watch the ball ho over the fence. Is the angle random? Or can I change camera angle somehow?

          The angle is random

This camera angle thing is ugly to me. I think it was fine the way it was before, on no doubters. Looks like something you would see in Madden, not the Show. When I see a player do a flip after a home run, or drop to his knees with his hands in the air on his way to first base it ruins immersion for me. Why put something so unrealistic into an otherwise pretty realistic game. I know it has nothing to with these sliders but I had to chime in here.

Have to see what Armor's opinion is.

Yeah I hear that. I uses strike zone 3 camera so the score board looks clunky. But might just have to change stuff up. I love the look of just nothing on the screen haha.

For those having issues hitting post-patch, the guys in the main forum suggested dropping the pitch speed sliders 2 notches from where you had them before the patch....it definitely brought things back to where it was previously for me at least.

I'd be a little concerned moving to Hall of Fame on hitting and let me explain why. Obviously, these are just my thoughts and opinions.

I've always seen All-Star as kind of the default setting, where all things are kind of equal. CPU and human are on a level playing field. Now the one factor is that humans players have always inevitably been smarter than the CPU counterpart on games. But in regards to ratings and things like that, it's all even.

Using directional takes much of the skill part out for the human and relies more on the player's attributes and ratings. Which I kind of prefer as do most of us on this particular thread, I would assume. Don't get me wrong and take no offense, I'm not saying you're not skilled or good at the game if you use directional, but essentially you're just timing the pitch. It's much easier than timing the pitch AND moving the PCI to the ball.

All that being said, I think directional (which takes ratings and attributes into account the most) while used on All-Star should present the most accurate stats and results. If we were to move up to Hall of Fame our literal skill level probably isn't really decreasing all that much. We're just going to see more "good," timing result in poor contact and outs. We'll see fewer balls hit in the gaps on balls that would have reached the wall on All-Star.

I'd be up for possibly using zone on Hall of Fame, but directional on Hall of Fame, I'm not so sure about.

If you had written this for 17, I would've agreed 110%. This year...I'm not so sure yet. I've been testing both HOF and All Star default to try to gather some general sample size and impressions to bounce off of Armor. The key with HOF for me has been in dropping the pitch speed sliders 1 notch from where I am comfortable on All Star....that essentially negates the boost there and re-syncs everything.

What I've seen on HOF is smarter AI in terms of pitch selection and location...resulting in overall better hit distribution for the user. I don't necessarily see my players being nerfed as much as my eye at the plate is being challenged in a more realistic manner.

On All Star, I think it is a very strong likelihood that user sliders will need to be tweaked a decent amount.....impacting that "player rating balance" concern. We'd be essentially weakening our own players for the sake of gameplay....it cuts both ways. Whereas on HOF, I think we can leave everything much closer to default...much as we did last year when we made the move up to HOF pitching.

Now, either way you slice it....I think you can absolutely come up with a very solid ratings-based experience with either difficulty setting. But, I do think HOF is much more viable for directional hitting this year....

Have you guys considered the middle ground of locking in Dynamic Difficulty at All Star + for Hitting and Pitching? I’m finding it to be a very even balance between myself and the CPU without having to make too many slider adjustments.

I'm going to have to test with more games but so far hitting on HOF feels very good. I have to agree though - pitching (even on HOF) is still a little too easy. Driving strikes in like a nailgun, even with mediocre pitchers.

This is the downfall of the game. It’s a killer for someone who wants realism.
