How do you guys deal with “wanting to start over-itis”? I’m really struggling with this. Maybe I start a game when I’m tired and get mad when I swing at bad pitches because I’m not concentrating or focused. So I sim to the end of the game. Then I think I “cheated” because there are no rewind or delete buttons in baseball. So now that I feel like I cheated, I feel I have to start my whole franchise over. As a result, I keep playing the same games over again and not getting anywhere.

I guess I’m looking for a pep talk!!

        Thanks

I think I've gone through this more than anybody else.

Every year, when a new roster with major "improvements" from the one I'm currently using in my franchise, I get this strong urge to start over with the new and improved roster set.

Every year, I start a franchise and it never seems to go in the direction I want it to in terms of realism and accuracy to what's happening in the real MLB.

Basically, I'm a self-admitting perfectionist and always strive to create the most perfect and accurate franchise ever, better than anybody else's.

Honestly, what I did this year to prevent a repeat of past years was thinking back to those past years and realizing that I never complete full seasons of my franchises unless I try to focus less on making them "perfect" and just play them with whatever flaws they may have.

In your case, it sounds like the "perfection" you're chasing is playing every inning of all 162 games in your franchise. The best advice I can offer is to keep pushing through with the franchise you're currently playing no matter what. If you don't, you risk falling into that rabbit-hole that I and many others have fallen into where you continuously restart franchises in an attempt to create a "perfect" one.

          Hope this helps!

62 games into the season and 42-20 with the Colorado Rockies. I've made no real moves, so think vanilla rosters.

Thanks for your reply. It does help. I find every reason to start over - new rosters, tweak in sliders, bad game, swing at one bad pitch, etc. I’m embarrassed to say this, but I started my Yankees franchise when the revised hybrid rosters came out. I have yet to get passed the first series against the Jays looking for that perfect start to my franchise. I start over if I lose the first few games, start over if I win too easy. Hell, I start over if Stanton swings at a bad pitch and strikeouts in his first at bat!

It’s nice to know others have struggled with this as well. Hopefully it helps me get passed this

              Thanks again

I would honestly say stick to HOF pitching with Classic. But try moving right up to Legend hitting with default hitting sliders for the human side. See how the next 10-15 games go and report back.

                  Armor,

Using HoF classic pitching with no vibration. I'm having trouble in limiting the HR, im 28th in the league for allowing home runs. I pretty much get owned when I'm facing the best hitters in the league, though I think it's down to my approach against them. Aaron Judge managed to hit for the cycle against me in one game.

Wondered if you got any tips, my pitchers seem to throw it straight down the middle at the most inconvenient of times.

                  Cheers.

Turn on the vibration. And don’t be afraid to walk great HR hitters.

Also if you’re aiming out of the zone when you have 2 strikes on a hitter make sure you’re aiming way out of the zone. If you’re throwing a high fastball in an 0-2 count you have to get that pitch over the hitter’s head. They protect with 2 strikes and will usually make contact with anything close.

In my opinion, I think you will drive yourself crazy trying to copy real life MLB. It just cant happen in The Show. The Show wont/doesnt have tendencies you would see in real life. You have to make the game your own universe. Keeping stats (in general) close is possible, but you wont be able to mimic current stats or make players mimic real life stats. Now its possible to move players as they do in real life, but you have to consider, is the trading team doing as bad as in real life and is the team trading to doing as good?
Thats what stops me from having restarts and do over franchise/games. When I go into my franchise, I say this is its own world.

As for restarting when new rosters or other reasons. I really dont restart, I just create a new franchise (leaving my other ones in case I decide to go back) and see if the reason I started a new one is working out. I always seem to have 3 franchises going. A Mangage mode, a OSFM play one, and a Hybrid play one. I just play whichever one I feel like when I turn it on. Oh and I have a carryover from 17 as well, so thats 4 lol. All with there own stories and way of playing.
Really wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players
                        CFB 25 The absolute GOAT!!!
MLB 23 FOREVER 20 is better, 23 just for Guardians
Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.

Another suggestion, and in fact try this first. Turn up the fastball and off speed pitch speed sliders first.

Instead of 5/6 like I have go to 6/7.

That is something I am probably doing after I finish Year 2 of my Yankees chise. I am just now at the half way point of my season.
