Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Making great progress in my Cubs chise. Loving the gameplay and my stats are realistic so no constantly changing spiders this year.
Couple notes from my chise.through April
The pitch i am having the most trouble with us a good low change-up which is fine.
My best hitter for average is Jason Heyward he is batting .323 with 2 hrs and 7 doubles
Kyle Schwarber is feast or famine batting just .218 but with 6 bombs.
My best pitcher is Yu Darvish he has a 1.20 era with 37ks
Lester,Hendricks, and Quintana are all in the mid to high 3.xx era.
Chatwood and Morrow are both struggling badly both with an era in the 7.xx's i might make the move to put Strop as my closer and flop Chattwood and MontgomeryComment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation S
Just wanted to pitch in my two cents on the pitch speed discussion. I agree that it is a personal preference, but I was stuck for years on slow pitch speeds because I felt I needed them, then just this year I decided to raise pitch speed to 10, purely out of curiousity, and I discovered something.
Yes, increasing pitch speed was in some ways more difficult because I just plain had less time to decide to swing the bat, but here is the thing: I didn't realized that when the pitch speed was low, I needed the extra time because of the unnatural way the ball was leaving the pitcher's hand. There was this sort of hitch as the velocity slowed down, and that was causing me to lose ball path, ball trajectory, and ball spin. I literally needed the extra time to re-aquire all of those things. When I bumped up the speed I was genuinely surprised how much I didn't need the extra time anymore, and this is coming from a guy who at one point refused to go past veteran because I felt I couldn't handle the pitch speed increase on All-star.
I still say it's personal choice (I'm at HoF 9 now), but I think you need to try higher speeds just to see if you are like me.
Mind you I'm playing on a pro in faster mode, so that might have something to do with my recent "discovery" of fast pitching settings.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Maybe I just have slow reflexes, but even with fastball speed at 4, guys who can touch 97+ on the gun still blow fastballs past me on the regular. In my last game I drew 8 walks and K’d 10 times against an assortment of Pirates pitchers in an 8-4 Yanks spring win. The hit variety was insanely good, in no small part due to the magical 3/3 fielder speed settings. Can’t wait to get some more games in this weekend.

I've been slowly knocking it back down, but I think I've found a speed that I'm comfortable with. I just never imagined that I could do it because I struggled my entire Show career with the slow pitch speeds. I highly recommend you try turning the speed up to 10, and then slowly turning it back down.
I get not doing it though. After all, it's not like I can act superior. I refused to try it for 9 years!Comment

Anybody else getting a bit frustrated with the number of check swings when batting? My pitch speeds are st 6/7 and that seems to be working. Except for a ton of checkswings in offspeed pitches. How do I correct this - increase pitch speeds even more?? ThanksYankees modern day

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Really, really been struggling to hit doubles. I think I'm 25th in the league. I never drive the ball into the gaps or hit balls over the outfielders heads. Is there any particular trick when using directional to get more extra base hits. Probably 95% of my hits are singles or home runs. Strange, too, because my first few weeks in season I was doing fine, now... nothing.Comment
