Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Seriously question. How do you guys play franchise and still feel like you have an impact on your teams stats and record? I want to do a franchise but 182 games is a lot but I don’t like simming a lot of games because I feel like I don’t have any impact on the stats and record of my team.
But that's where picking your team comes in my man. I mean you can do a franchise with any team, but if you pick a team that you can't get truly invested in the players through the season you'll never finish it.
I've tried with many teams over the years and unless I'm able to get interested in the players it fails, my one constant being my Yanks I can always play with them.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Nope.
I fear great CPU hitters with power at 6 for them.
I have the balance that suits my skill and style.
If your feeling they are too tough you can drop their power to 5.
But for me the set is now as good as it can be.
Again SDS did an amazing job tuning this game at default HOF and only minor tweaks were needed this cycle as you can see on the OP. But the tweaks we have done are fantastically effective and are game changing for the better.
I am so addicted to this game!!!

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
After all these years with classic pitching I still stink at it. My team era is around 6. I’m decent at getting strikeouts, I don’t walk many guys but I always squander a lead. Do you guys use catcher suggestion? What are your tips for tapping?Comment

I run 30-team control but I'm unable to reverse some trades. Am I missing something? I've gone in and switched both teams to, "manual," under trades in my CPU user profile and it still won't go through.

And one last thing if you are pitching to a really good hitter like a Joey Votto dont be afraid to nibble the corners and give up a walk. I can work around a walk which is better than giving up a homerun to him.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I am not the best at pitching right now my team era is 3.63 which is good for 10th in team rankings. I think that is right where I should be using the cubs. Now to your question I will see what the catcher suggest but if I don't agree I will shake him off and throw what I think is appropriate in that situation. And I dont pitch the same with every pitcher. For example with Kyle Hendricks he is a control pitcher with good sinking action so I tend to pitch down in the zone and on the coners with him since if I elevate in the zone he will get crushed with his 91 mph sinker. But with Pedro Strop I will challenge hitters up in the zone and down in the zone with his 96 mph 2 seamer that has a lot of movement. You have to pitch to your pitchers strengths.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
So V2.5 is now official. I changed human power to default 5 (HOF and All-Star).
Also I made some updates to the trade slider settings and this has come after a ton of simulation testing. The CPU is actually more active than in years past in making minor deals to improve the farm system.
So I made some adjustments back to default early in the season, and cranked it for July, August and September (August and September for waiver trades). Winter Meetings are at 7.
Also keep in mind I do some of my own trading with various teams when I see they are in contention or out of contention. Create my story lines in addition to any CPU to CPU trading. Makes for a more vibrant franchise IMO.
I just swept the Twins and am heading on a 7 game road trip to Anaheim and Houston. After those two series are completed I will have a full April update on the Yankees (team and player stats) and standings from around the league. Now Playing on PS5:

As far as tapping, it really is getting to know your pitcher. I look for a sweet spot when they become set before starting towards home plate.
Examples:
Tanaka - When his lead leg comes back and is extended straight I release
Sabathia - Taps his lead leg twice on the rubber before starting towards home plate, I try and time to release just before the 2nd tap.
Chapman - I release at the top of his hip rotation right before he starts toward home.
Not an exact science, but I have found a good window with most of the Yankees staff. You will still miss a spot, leave a ball up or have a 'pitchers' pitch hammered, which I love about HOF pitching.Comment
