Welp I'm done for the day. 0-2 loss. I never used power swing and only had 1 ball get out of the infield. Everything was hit right at an infielder. Their pitchers pitched 3 innings in the RED. I'm at a complete loss. Feels like I'm hitting with a wiffle ball bat. Their 2 runs came after 2 blown easy double plays. It's like I'm playing a different game. Zero pop even when I had the sliders up higher.

I'll throw in my 2 cents to try to help people struggling at the plate: this is by no means a brag, but with the sliders at 6 I was hitting over .350 as a team and knew something was off... after a reset to the current setting I'm hitting about .305 now which is still to high, imo, but only 3rd in the league after about 15 games. I did have a 18 run, 24 hit game in there too though.
Anyways my approach: I only use X to hit always and I only swing at mistake pitches right around the middle square of the strike zone (if it were there, I turn it off). If I have 2 strikes then I swing at anything that would be a strike. Obviously I chase a few pitches of the zone, but it's usually only like 8% and close to 0% without 2 strikes. I just constantly remind myself, middle only every at bat. Once I have 2 strikes, then it's any strike.
Maybe give this approach a shot, sounds like it can't hurt.
This is by far the best version of any sports game ever made! Specially with the new sliders even though I may have to nerf my hitting at some point if I hit .300+ as a team through 15 more games.Comment

Also I still wonder how much my team matters. I see a lot of you using teams with a lot higher power ratings than my Rays. Look at the Rays compared to your team and tell me if that's maybe a factor. My best power hitter is Mike Zunino. After that the next highest guy has a 71 I believe against RH.Comment

I'm in the 5th through 10th ranking or so in all the important categories. I love the way the game is playing for me with this set and the pitching change to meter with decreased sliders for it.Comment

If you guys are having trouble getting good hits just using X, I'd suggest lowering pitch speed and up timing.
Sounds like ur not seeing the ball well enough and timing is off.
I also never use power swing, and can hit HRs at decent numbers. But I do use the Phillies, so team can matter too.

Just relax when you're at the plate tell yourself to hit the ball to the opposite field. There is no doubt you're pressing and probably way ahead of alot of pitches. That approach helped me get out of my slump.

You really do need some baseball knowledge to play this game to its fullest like you are describing hitting the ball the other way. I have played competitive baseball into my 30's and now I coach and im almost 50. Have been around this game for 40+ years and knowledge really comes into play in the show, that's why i think this game represents the real thing more than any other sports game out there. I struggle also but when i am i just go back to basics to try to get out of it and it usually works, don't overthink it just relax and settle down and the game will come back to you. Good luck all!

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Even though I am doing my own thing with sliders, I 100% follow this one and Armor's streams. I just felt compelled to say this after reading the last few pages of posts....
My buddy Matt10 works on sliders for many games (I collaborated with him for years on NCAA) and has a saying that is SO incredibly true, "we're not your customer service".
We SHARE our slider sets/approaches with the community using what we prefer. In some cases, we may offer some flexibility options in our opening posts. Guys like Armor and I can't possibly test for every skill level, we can't possibly test every combination of sliders. Why would we? We want to enjoy the game too. We share what works for us and if it works for you, even better!
You have to tailor your experience for you! Sometimes that means admitting you're not good enough for a difficulty level (in my opinion, All Star is like HOF last year, HOF is like last year's Legend) and that you need to drop down. Sometimes that means you need to adjust for a control setting that you prefer. Sometimes that means you need to test things out for yourself if you're unhappy with a particular statistical outcome.
It's your game, it's your experience, you have to make it work for you - and though we are happy to offer our insights, it's not our "job" to "fix it" for you.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Its time for an intervention. lol
Maybe your just not very good at the show?
Maybe you are trying to play on a skill level that you just cant play on?
Your trying to use a set that a particular guy is using and its quite obvious your not as good as him.
Believe me I get it. I am not near as good at Madden as a lot of the slider makers on that forum. I had to admit it and use one of the less hard slider sets the last few years.
Again not knocking you but your not having fun by reading your post.
Lower the level to ALL STAR and the sliders too if need be.
Enjoy the game and not worry too much if your stats are not perfect.
It kills me when I see guys say they are sticking with a set of sliders even if the set isn't working for them.

This is what happened to me. I was struggling a couple games and finally got 2 hit by Blake snell where I was way behind the fastballs and way early on offspeed; mostly because I was overthinking everything and pressing. Next game, I just relaxed and proceeded to score 19 runs, including 9 home runs: 3 by Stanton, 2 by Judge, 2 by Didi, 1 by Sanchez, and 1 by Voit.
Hopefully that gets me out of the slump.
I use exact sliders from OP btw.

On a different note, i just had the best draft pick i have ever had since i started using my house rules: I do not do any scouting or discovery and draft 100% blind. Planning on keeping him in AA for a year and then let him become my starting 1B of the future. He has 89 potential btw.Attached FilesLast edited by bspring3; 05-29-2019, 10:25 AM.Comment
