There's no point in driving yourself nuts out of the gate. Get good with additional handicap, and then lessen it as you improve. As Mike Lowe says in his OP: while you shouldn't engulf yourself in slideritis, sliders should be a moving target as you progress. This is particularly true if you are a competitive sim player.

Another thing you could do, is drop CPU Pitch Control to 5. I have found that @ 6 on Legend, the CPU pitchers are too good at painting the box. More pitches are right at or on the edge of the zone, than not. Quite a bit more. I run my own set on Legend, and I run this @ 5. I see a bit more variety in terms of off target pitches. There are still plenty that paint, but not quite as many.

@MIke Lowe: I don't mean to hijack your thread referring to my own set, but there are so few MLB gamers that play on Legend, I like to refer to your set when I am tinkering. It's a solid set to use as a reference point.
Thank you very much! And I give my appreciation about your sliders all Madden project too. Save the game in the last years when I was between all pro and all Madden I always used yours. Now I'm better at Madden and I use the matt10 set but I always suggest your set in our Madden community here in Italy when somebody have problem to increase level from all pro to all Madden. Do you have a thread of your own set here in MLB the show? I might gladly give it a try. Have a nice day

Hey! I don't have a thread, but if you're interested in what I'm running, send me a PM.

Now it seems I can't do that and I move the PCI in a weird way.. I tend to move it down even when the pitch is high. Can't really hit on anything inside/outside.
I don't really want to go back on strike zone cam, so I appreciate if there are some tips non cam related which may help me
Also, slider related. Could I partially solve this problem by setting my contact at 6? I saw that it's a slider that could change
Just like in real life, hit the cages! Use practice mode. Use it a lot. Even when you think you're good, continue to use it. I do a session usually on my off days on the calendar (I'm playing all 162).

No issue at all. My motto is just to help people enjoy sports gaming more, especially within franchise modes, etc. The more the merrier.

            Hi mike,

Just started my season with these as the Red Sox and went 3-0 in the series vs the Blue Jays. They feel really good. I only gave up an avg of 4 hits per game. Is this common or will my larger sample size produce more hits? I always want to throw over the plate too without the catcher telling me what to do, but I think that will come with time. Nice set!

Larger sample size for sure. I swept the Blue Jays in that same Opening Series. They're about to sweep me in our second meeting; we'll fall to 18-9 on the season.

If you get to game 15-20, and your opponents continue to average below the 7-10 hit mark per game, the you might want to look into an adjustment (assuming that's something that you see fit). We all have different play styles, skill levels, and desires from a game.

Not common. I lost 10-1 recently to the Royals, and then lost last night 3-1 to the Giants. It comes in waves a lot of times as players work through hot and cold streaks.

Loving this set and the videos. I was watching your last video and you were talking about fielder run speed. I have reduced fielder run speed to 2 and reaction to 3. It’s a world of difference. I may even drop speed to 1 but I’ll wait. I was tired of players with below average reaction and speed chasing down fly balls they should have never made. This adjustments is causing the fielders base attributes come into play more on the fielding. The above average players are still making the great catches, as the should. I’m not seeing a drastic increase in hits either, it’s subtle (for both user and cpu - I field with assist)

Also you were talking about how too many plays are clean off the wall. I’m not sure but since I lowered reaction I notice more balls rolling past some players. Could be coincidence, I don’t know if reaction affects anything other than the initial jump but I’ll keep an eye on it.

In previous years I'd agree, but this year I'm very confident with where all running speeds are at.

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show 20 Sliders

Mike, first off, thank you for your time and effort in these sliders. First year I've used yours and through about 40 games I'm really enjoying how these play.

I have recently started a rebuilding franchise with the Marlins and I am winning too often IMO (18-2 through first 20 games). Granted the Nationals and Braves, surpringly, are under .500 and that accounts for 13 of my 20 games so far.

Anyways, a few observations I have that I'd like you're opinion on how to possibly get some better results. Note: I am playing on HoF. My stats have been pretty on point with your goals set in your original post. However, the CPU is struggling.

                      CPU vs Me Stats
                      Hits: 5.8/game
                      HR: 1.15/game
                      Runs: 1.9/game
                      SO: 10.6/game

                      1. I get a lot of strikes from the CPU simply not swinging the bat. I've missed some pitches and thrown meatballs down the middle and they'll watch it go right by. Now I do get punished by leaving a pitch up or hanging a breaking ball by good hitters. Is there a particular slider change you'd recommend to get the bat off the shoulder?

                      2. I feel I should bump contact up to get the average hits per game up? Would that be correct?

                      3. I have great games sometimes, especially against Ace pitchers or pitchers with high H/9 K/9 but as soon as they hit their bullpen it turns into batting practice. I've won probably 8-10 games in the late innings. I know this is expected to an extent to light up a reliever but anyway I can tone this down?

Again, thanks for your time and your hard work.

So I see you say (8 for sim) a few times. Does this mean while advancing a day during your franchise change it to this? How impactful are the sliders on the computer vs computer games occurring while I actually play my games? Do they matter? As someone who plays a majority of my games, how do I not influence the results of other games around the league? So for example I barely walk because I just can’t sit here and take a lot of pitch’s for 9 innings. If for example I turned CP stamina to 4 to compensate for a lot of swings, will this effect pitchers in other games occurring around the league?

Yeah 23 or 22 games left. I'm right up to the--what would have been--real life schedule. Just haven't had time to stream.
