    Testing update

We have been playing test games in a franchise using the latest SCEA roster.

Currently we are testing the OP woth the following adjustments:

    Fielder reaction - 4
    Fielder speed - 4

So far I am getting exactly what I wanted to see with this adjustment but I want a battery of games before I say 100% on it.

This is being done to create a better ratings spread between elite/good/average/below average defensive players.

Thus far no adjustments have had to be made to base runner speeds at all.

Ok so here we go , made the leap to legend hitting and here is the very 1st game which was just brutally hard . Just imagine hitting on HOF with the cpus pitch control and pitch consistency on 10 and also pitch speeds at 8 and 10 , and even then i dont know if that would be as challenging as this was lol They simply do not throw anything down the middle , ive never seen anything like it before , the way they hit their spots is just brilliant.

I did want to be challenged again but i made the big mistake of sticking with off speed at 10 for this game and i just got spanked. I had the newly acquired lefty vet Matthew Boyd on the mound making his 3rd start for us as i faced the Yanks and Montgomery was pitching who i believe has 90 break and has the illusionist tag and he was dealing that curveball of his with no mercy . Ive played 5 games now on Legend and left the fastball speed at 8 but dropped the off speed to 9 and its been much better .

The CPU pitchers are just so damn smart in the way they pitch on Legend , its so refreshing to see and more importantly its a big challenge again . Heres the link if anyone wants to see how i did in my 1st game and just have a look at how great the cpu pitchers toss now .

Gonna give these a try. Just curious about two things...

It appears like very few CPU batter will take a called strike 3, but I do get them to chase for a strikeout. This is the first time I have ever pitched classic, always used meter in the past.

Seems like even if I try to throw a pitch out of the strike zone it runs right back over the middle of the plate a lot of times. Are there some tips on classic pitching you could share. I like the pitching and enjoy the clean screen (first time to try it / will never go back) must not be pressing the buttons long enough... not sure. Thanks man

Armor, I was wondering why don't you create sliders to try and match real life mlb stats? Is it because you don't believe it is possible or just too much work?

Armour, have you pretty much been set on pitch speeds at 7/6? Have you tried 8/7 for example? Your sliders including pitch speeds have always been perfect for me, so just trying to get things set before I start a franchise once OSFM rosters are released. Thanks

Raise your pitcher consistency to 7 that will fix your problem with pitches not going where you want. To many times you will throws strike when your trying for a ball. You still miss your spots but not near as much especially with star pitchers.

If that doesn't work out see my posts above about the human timing slider. It will make the difficulty basically a HOFplus.

My bad man , I just went thru the posts from today and seen u posted that but for some reason i didn't get the notification . Yeah I'm willing to try anything , that's the thing about this game , there's so many different sliders u can adjust and u never know what little adjustment will do the trick . Seen the way u combat the high number of homers is by simply playing as the Giants loool maybe my best bet is just to do that

Haha! I want to hit more bombs but I'm hitting less then 1 per game. I gotta get a stud to carry my lineup. Plus Oracle park plays as the toughest hitters park.

Why would one want to match real life stats? Where's the fun in that? A franchise should have your own unique stamp on it. Like an unexpected break out, in my chise Chris Shaw was called up due to injuries and led the team in OPS at .915 and forced me to find him a position. Irl he has really struggled in his major league action. Kevin Pillar was supposed to be my ironman he played 161 irl but in my team he was injured two months and had no pop in his bat. Tyler Beede won 9 games with a 3.69 and irl he was much worse. I'll take the video game stats. Variety of outcomes and fun gameplay are the goal of most slider sets. Gotta get outta that box man. We've already seen what guys do irl, this is fantasy baseball dude. Enjoy it.

With all due respect, if you are looking for video game/arcade stats then I suggest you don’t use Armour’s sliders or OSFM rosters, as they provide very realistic results. These gentlemen test their sliders and work on their rosters for hundreds of hours to provide us (for free) sliders and rosters designed to provide as close to real life outcomes as possible. No, they can’t control injuries in your our individual franchises (that’s random), and players and teams will disappoint and surprise in our individual franchises, just like they do in real life. But using these sliders and rosters will have the Yankees win more games than the Orioles, Judge will hit more homers than Gardner, Cole has better chance at winning the Cy Young than Jeff Zimmerman. I believe the large majority that play this outstanding game using Armour’s sliders and OSFM rosters want it that way

I think you completely misunderstood me. And that's ok. I too want an authentic simulation baseball experience and have been following the guidance of Armor while using his slider sets and style of play for over 250 games now. All I'm saying is I enjoy when a Tyler Beede outplays his rating and has a nice year. I enjoy the challenge of my ironman Kevin Pillar going down with an injury and under performing when healthy. My season played out completely different from real life and was far from arcade. I just think too many guys are hung up on recreating exact stats. Forget that, let the ratings play out and the unexpected happen and embrace the deviation from real life.
