I have grumbled to myself and on threads for a few years now about how we veteran gamers have been squeezed out. I enjoy Madden somewhat, but goodness what a shell of the game of football it has become. I always had the Show though, but that is coming to an end. Making more money has overcome the desire of making an icon experience for the masses.

The perfect storm of disgruntlement is happening for me right now. Not only are the newest versions of sports games heading the wrong direction in my opinion, but the whole next generation system shortage is driving me to give up on any hope for a future in gaming, except for continuing with what I have now.

I cannot land a PS5. I follow every Twitter notification available but new stock is only coming available in the middle of the week during the middle of a workday and I just can't always be available. Wednesday I had a unit in the cart but it took me a minute to retrieve my Walmart password; one minute two late. Crazy.

First world problem of privilege, I know, but gaming is very special for me and I need it for my mental health. But I feel that the gaming world is leaving me behind and it's quite sad.

Hey my man. Hang in there. You will land a PS5 before year end. I am 99.99% sure of that.

I got very lucky. But they will be available to the masses like they should soon. Supply chains are a mess due to the world pandemic. That is the real reason. I did a lot of digging on the subject and it is a mess right now. And it is no ones fault. However.....I don’t think Sony handled the roll out well at all and retailers are as guilty as anyone from preventing bots and scalpers scooping up inventory. And it is not just video game consoles. Ebay sellers and what not are cornering the market on specialty items and collectables. It has gotten out of control.

Anyway.....right there with you on the state of sports games.

The bright side is we have MLB 20 to keep us totally content for as long as we need it. And I am strapping in for a potentially long run with this game.

I have almost no faith we are going to see the trend change for the better on the new generation of consoles. And it is such a shame.

    So **** em.

Thank you for the games you already gave me.....they will suit me just fine thank you very much.

And I know this might sound crass and shocking coming from me as a long time SDS supporter.....and I don’t think the development team is doing this because they want to. It is because they have too.

    It pays the bills.

The days of offline franchise players on AAA sports games is closing. The window on development, improvements, and AI innovation is dead.

Again....it is what it is and we had been seeing the writing on the wall and it finally has arrived. And many may disagree with me...but this year’s release reeks of them moving on.

So happy I passed on the game. Elated actually.

I having so much fun with 20...so who needs 21? Nothing there for me that I don’t already have in 20.

Armor, I’m curious, and you may have already said this, if MLB 21 had year-to-year saves would you have bought it?

Absolutely. Because without even playing it I am sure the gameplay is very good.

But I have already heard from people I trust the new bat sounds are crap compared to 20 and I gotta tell ya that small detail is one of the amazing things about 20.

You truly feel it when you hit a ball on the screws on 20.....in large part to the sweet sound of perfect contact.

I really don’t understand why the messed with the bat sounds in 21. It was perfect in 20

The biggest thing I don’t like, so far in MLB 21 is the timing when batting. It’s just something I’ll have to get used to. But my timing is off. It may be the game, or it might be the better frame rate that I’m not used to. Either way I’m swinging and missing like mad.

I’ve considered just going back to MLB 20 but the other thing, as silly as it might sound, that makes me want to keep 21 is that David Ross is in the game instead of the generic manager.

Playing 20 at a true 60 FPS and 4K has been incredible. Hitting took me about 15-20 games to get my bearings back with the far better frame rate.

              So yeah....that must be it.

Since the gameplay didn’t change much, I’m expecting your latest version from last year to perform pretty accurately this year as well.

Really enjoying the show 20 on ps5. Just wondering if anyone had any tips for locating the ball out the pitchers hand easier. I’m strike out a lot because I can’t locate the ball that well. Is they a certain spot on the pitcher I should be looking at to find his release

As with everyone else, I have followed A&S sliders for many years on various games. His always seemed to make a decent game much better and in the case of the show a great game fantastic.

So I was wondering what is the best way to backup my rosters and franchise to a usb in case anything happens??

Honestly, I never track the ball out of the pitchers hand. Everytime in the past when I tried that, I struggled mightily. My suggestion is to react to what’s coming instead of concentrating on his hand

Armor, I've been using your sliders for years, so I trust you. I've been very on the fence about buying '21, but what you said hit home. I'm still on Ps4, I own '20 and love it. If certain things like trade logic, roster management, roster size, scouting, training etc had been at all upgraded I'd have bought 21. But from what I can tell, all they did was update the depth chart screen... 30 team control still seems necessary as apparently the Rule 5 is littered with good, young players. This is sad that it's ended like this... But it is what it is...there are plenty of great single player non sport games to play

The card system is great. And those of you who are on the fence on it thinking that it will mess up the game play, I have had the card that raises all errors a couple of times and that game still had no errors. If I have to lower my contact for the game, it pushes me knowing that I have to be on top of my game a little more and more rewarding if I win.

Playing as the Cubs in Wrigley Field, the wind matrix has really controlled the first couple of games. Got a couple high numbers with the wind blowing in in every game of the first home series. Played 3 games with the wind blowing in at 15 mphor so. The whole series only had like 2 home runs and they were liners. A couple that looked no doubters and I would be like oh crap and it died at the warning track.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

Just coming in to join the MLB The Show 20 support group. While I don't use this exact setup, I know from years of conversations in these threads and PMs that Armor and I approach how we play The Show (and all sports games) the same way.

I haven't posted as much on The Show forums because it's been tough coming to grips with what we all knew was inevitable. Doesn't make it easier when you see the change actually happen, though. MLB The Show was THE reason I purchased a PSP, PS3, PSVita and PS4. Yes, I have enjoyed other sports and non-sports games on those systems, but the system seller was always MLB The Show.

I also remember back in the day when developers of this game would come here and have great in-depth discussions on the game and how they were always striving for pure simulation. And, I seem to recall a few jabs at other sports games who, at the time, were removing features/modes and neglecting offline, while reinforcing SD Studios' commitment to retaining all features and building on a foundation.

I feel like I'm rambling now, so I'll wrap it up and say that I'll be continuing on with my Mets carryover franchise in MLB 20, and aim to keep playing it for a long while.

                                Enjoy the game, all.
