So everyone here knows we have stuck with 20.

However this morning I popped in 21 (yes have a copy that was in the shrink wrap for a long time as it was given to me by a good friend).

I was going to give it the ol college try and create a HOF set calibrated for use with Bacons forth coming remix on his full minors fictional roster.

I literally could not even get through a game.

Something has fundamentally changed under the hood of this game that no slider will fix or make better.

Everyone knows for the last decade I have been probably one of the most enthusiastic supporters of MLB The Show. A great group of guys make this game. They have always been really easy to communicate with and always lended their ear to the community.

But the tides have shifted. The direction of what this game is has changed and the engine has been fundamentally changed.

Words can’t explain it. You juat have to play it to know.

As soon as went back and played 20 I was like “ahhhhhhh” now we are playing baseball again.

I am really sad it came to this….but it has.

So again I gave it a try…..but I have been playing sports games probably longer than some OS’ers have been alive.

MLB 21 is a huge swing and a miss in terms of actual baseball.

Is it beautiful? Yes. The PS5 version is gorgeous. But it plays like garbage. There I said it. Nothing like 20.

20 was the culmination of all the previous games starting with 17 to get to a point of almost a video game baseball nirvana.

And it is 20 where we shall stay.

Be good people. And enjoy whatever version you enjoy. I now have confirmation I am playing the game for me (20).

I wholeheartedly agree. I am moved on to 21 though and I'm determined to make it work lol. But under the hood its not as good as 20. I'm not giving up though.....

That is really sad that this game is so messed up that you can’t even play enough to make a slider set let alone one game. Something did change the week all those patches came out. Even though they didn’t say anything and even one of the patches said no gameplay has changed. But I would rake on Allstar on 20 and it be too easy. Now, I get frustrated on Allstar and still struggle to hit. On pitching, their offense isn’t potent until you get to legend.

This sums up my experience with 21 as well; it's just felt off from previous versions. Oh well, I'm still playing 20 daily and having a great time.

I smashed a two run bomb on HOF this morning and it was about as unsatisfying of a HR I ever hit on this series. The sound of the bat is awful. That alone makes me cringe.

They made a lot of questionable changes all over the place. Even the new menus stink. The in-game quick menus changed. They actually made it harder to get information on the fly….why?

Anyway does not matter…..we have 20 and it is divine.

And BTW NHL 21 is a total blast!!!!!!

Well, it doesn’t make it any better, but you’ve certainly validated my exact thoughts on ‘21. Not sure what, but something changed, and it ain’t good.

I really hope they realize this (not holding my breath) and fix it this year, or at the very least get it corrected for ‘22, but next year is the first year I won’t be getting the game on release.

Sums up how I feel. Thought maybe it was just me but I’ve played a half dozen games of ‘21 on the series X (because it’s “free” on game pass) and I just can’t get into it. Something is very different. And whoever said the menus are terrible is right. I can’t believe that’s what they settled on for the first cross platform year. They are indeed confusing and ugly. (And no SoTS).

So back to my ‘19 chise on ‘20 (again).

I wonder what the numbers for SDS are. Like for a business aspect of it, do they think 21 was a success for them? I know a lot of people bought the game and that helps their business line cause that is a game sold. But if those people go back to 20, SDS doesn’t care cause they already have their money.

I know 20 started out with bugs but they were quickly resolved. Now it seems like they are happy with their product as is.

A monumental patch and a magic wand may get it in the same area code. Just too much is off about 21 to make it enjoyable.

I went back to 20 fully. No splitting. Glad I did.

I've been thinking about hopping back onto '20 but been hesitant bc I dont have '18, 19' etc and dont really want to play that bleh '20 season but dont really want to sim it either. I'm at a standstill. Lol.
