I've recently gotten back into MLB and started a Pirates franchise with Bacon's rosters and, my god, how I've forgotten how amazing this game is. I've started using the card modification system and injury matrix as well and I am loving the variety in outcomes so far!

I’ve started a fictional Pirates franchise also. They’re ranked I think first in contact and it shows. They have so good power hitters but the fact that I can score runs by stringing together a few hits makes it so much more fun.

potentially dumb question incoming....


I have had zero luck trying to get a Ps5 and was going to wait until i got one to get The Show 21....but alas ive tried and failed so many times i may just wait until i can physically buy one in a store.

My question is, if i bought The Show 21 for ps4, then a month from now got a ps5, would i be able to redownload 21 on the ps5 since i already bought it on ps4?

First off you are not missing out on anything with the PS5 version of MLB 21. In fact MLB 20 is a better overall game if you are a heavy franchise only player who values a ton of amazing roster content, full Sounds of the Show and a game that actually has no infuriating logic bugs among other things. I just don’t want to get into it here.

If that fit’s your style....stick with MLB 20 and when you eventually get a PS5 play 20 on it. It is awesome.

As far as 21 you would need to buy the Jackie Robinson version to have a copy of he PS4 version and you get a code to get the digital version on the PS5. Otherwise you will have to buy the game two times if you get the standard version of the PS4 game.

My suggestion.....skip 21. You will thank me for it.

Facts. I whole heartedly disagree on Armors take on ‘21. The gameplay itself is worth the upgrade over 20. There’s decent rosters out already on ‘21 that people will like. Then add in real minor league stadiums via the create a stadium feature is pretty amazing to me.

I’ve used your sliders for the past 3-4 year’s and I thank you, but since you’re not moving on (which I was hoping you would) I did. I Hope you catch up!

Facts? No it is simply called a subjective opinion. There are no facts when it comes to music, art, film, it is all subjective.

And you know partly my fault....but I am not looking to discuss 20 vs 21

Appreciate that Jcar. Was kinda but not sorta taken aback by that....lol. My main goal has always been to provide inspiration to those playing this game to enjoy it to the fullest.

And MLB 20 is without a doubt my all time favorite sports game. Not even a debate.

Just because I happen to really feel strongly that the game took many steps backwards in certain areas does not mean I don’t love the game.

It just so happens we are simply sticking with what gives us joy. Not frustration. And if someone is going to take offense because I happen to think a game is not up to the high standards the series has established....so be it and take care.

But I think 20 has a legion of players who have not “moved on” because they find tremendous value in the investment they have made into their long running franchises, classic rosters etc. I have literally 1000’s of hours of real playing time invested in various franchises and the insane amount of man hours in the dozens of rosters we have? Walk away from that for slightly improved gameplay? And it is slight not some revelation. And in some areas (sounds, check swings cough cough, color landscapes, score bug design, UI) it has gone backwards IMO. Give up all the joy I have for what is I feel not even a true next gen upgrade? Hell freaking no.

I have never been a player who has to have the latest rosters with The Show and after playing 21 and knowing what I know if Y2Y and SOTS were not taken out.....I would still be right here. With BRinskies 2021 updated roster for MLB 20 you have a superior full minors roster on 20....again my opinion...but it blows anything that has been released for 21 out of the water roster wise. It is also no secret I simply was not pining for a stadium creator. Everyone has their wants....they did not check off any of the boxes for me on next gen with 21. They actually took away more than added.

Anyway enough of that....Yankees Year 5 (streaming live right now as a matter of fact) and the Fantasy SF Giants roll on and also so much more as we go on in 2021!!!

Well said armor. The brinskee roster on 2020 is the best I’ve ever seen. I’ve got 21 and 20 on ps4. 20 is the GOAT. I have zero interest in playing all day games in some fictional stadium. I want ratings based results classic/directional clean screen. This is the #1 place on the internet for my style of play. Keep up good work!!!

Always have my support Armor. The reason I enjoy the games you make sliders for is be cause of you and the threads you host. These games would not be as beloved if not for your dedication. Can’t remember the day I discovered your madden and MLB threads but once I did I have never looked elsewhere for guidance and sliders. Thank you brother.! Look forward to our 60’s still talking sports games!

Anyone else try playing a franchise with the Pittsburgh Pirates? I'm in year one using the Brinskee roster and it's absolute torture lol. This team has so many needs... This is the challenge of a lifetime. The problem I'm having is I'm seriously wondering if I have the mental patience to endure this. I'm seriously considering switching to another small market team with a better farm system, The Tampa Bay Rays perhaps. Any advice?

Miami has a great farm system. Rats too of course.

I happen to love the Royals as a potential franchise with Brinskies roster.
