To add another layer to the clean-screen simulation approach we use and eliminate the use of a visual aid I have recently experimented with eliminating the use of R2 and the strike zone/pitch sequence while hitting and pitching. I had become ultra reliant on this visual aid and also realize that a batter or pitcher does not have this available to them while embroiled in their matchup. They go off memory of pitch type and location during an at-bat. This has initially been a difficult adjustment for me but it has proved to be more engaging in my pitcher/hitter matchups. Maybe some of you will give it a try too?

Look at my OP settings….and plug those in exactly and you will have a totally clean screen.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Armor it's not in settings. It's just not pressing R2 between pitches. Not to call you out but I have seen you use R2 while watching your Twitch streams. Maybe we're talking about 2 different things.Comment

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
I check the pitch history during my AB to see how the umpire is calling.
I need to be able to sit on pitches, read them outta the hand etc. I don’t analyze the R2 pitch history to pick up on patterns typically.
I love checking how an umpire is calling a game on me. That is why I will do that sometimes.....also there is no way in hell at 51 years of age...I can remember how a guy pitched all 9 batters every AB....sorry that ain't happening LOL So yeah....a quick review of my last AB is helpful since I am hitting for all 9 players....not myself like in a real game of baseball. But I don’t look at it all the time...here and there when I feel like I want to see how a guy pitched me. Since you know....we are hitting for all 9.
I thought you were talking about having your pitch confidence and pitch selection buttons on display while you are pitching so that is the misunderstanding we are having here.
And there is no way to turn off the ability to pull back R2 and check a batters pitch history....you can turn off the the R2 button display from showing on the screen though. And that we have shut off.....so we can have a clean screen.
If you had become ultra reliant on that.....I get it. I never have been. I could go a game never using it and be fine. But most of the time when I use it....it is to see how he is calling balls and strikes.
I sit on pitches based on counts and reading the pitch at the release point. And of course the ability to check swing is critical when facing MLB pitching. Another strike against SDS for what they did to it on 21 LOL!!!!Last edited by Armor and Sword; 09-26-2021, 07:45 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Yeah that can be a very hard habit to break….especially if you use it to track pitch sequences from the pitcher!!

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Question on pitchers pitch mix. Do you ever add a pitch for a pitcher? I have a pitcher with a 4sfb/curve/slider and I think he could benefit from adding a change up. How would you go about adding that ratings wise?Come on down and see the idiot right hereComment

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Armor, along with myself and a few others are still playing MLB 20 for the foreseeable future. I would imagine that these sliders would work fairly well with 21 though. The major differences in gameplay that I’ve noticed between 20 and 21 is that in 20 you can actually check swing. The one thing that I like better in 21 is that you just generally get more swings and misses from the CPU.

In that case, can somebody give me a breakdown of the injury sliders for the set? I noticed it said 10 for games played and six for simming games (30 tm cntrl) but only 7 if using single team. I guess I’m just confused as to why the values would be different for 30 team control or single team control.
Thanks in advance!Comment

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
OK thanks. I was mostly concerned with the frequency of injuries while the slider is set to 10 for games actually played. It seems that in game injuries are way more frequent for 2021 compared to 2020 at this value. But with everyone in this thread obviously still playing 20 I’m assuming nobody would be able to providing insight.

The reason for 7 in single team control is once you start your game the sim engine kicks in for the other 28 teams playing and if it is on 10 it will wipe teams out over time.
7 is the compromise so you will still get in game injuries on MLB 20 while not having the rest of the league hamstrung with way too many keys guys out.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
I have considered this a few timed in my franchise but never actually done it. If one wanted to stay true to the simulation aspect we enjoy I suggest the best time to do it would be during Spring Training. Many pitchers have adopted a new pitch in that time of year. As far as ratings go, that'd be your call on how effective you think the new pitch might be. I'd probably base it off the other 3 pitch ratings and start it out rated slightly lower.Comment

Hey guys thanks again for providing a great experience with these sliders.
Can anyone please provide a link to coachmod’s card modifier system and/or an explanation?
I’m still fuzzy on comprehending the exact process even w/ the instructions on the 1st page post.
Apologies for my ignorance.Comment
