I've said since the game came out that the user's pitching staff's strikeouts are low. And I agree it's somewhat of a legacy issue. However, from the 20-30 games I played in MLB 21, there seemed to be a lot more K's. While it may never be perfect, getting pitchers on your pithing staff that have high k/9 ratings is key. I've even thought about editing the pitchers I have to increase it. There's undoubtedly a correlation in strikeouts in game and the pitcher's k/9 attribute.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Thank you man!!! My first slider set I ever developed was for MLB 11 I believe.
That game still holds a special place in my heart as one of my all time favorite baseball games along with MLB 12. I actually went back and played MLB 11 earlier this year (actually revisited all of em) and it was so different.....lol.
20 is the absolute gold standard for me though for gameplay.
As far as your question.....the only thing I can suggest for offensive strikeouts is turn your (fastball) pitch speed up and follow along with the Off-Speed slider one click below what your fastball is. If you are already maxed out......consider changing your hitting camera for a new challenge. That is all you can do.
As far as your pitching staff getting more.......don’t even sweat it. It is a legacy issue. And quite frankly......in todays game in real life.....it is a hitting issue as to why players are striking out at a higher clip......approach at the plate is a lost art that is being replace with swinging outta your shoes all the time. A great majority of hitters.....are not trying to hit anymore. They are trying to launch balls....thae game is not in the greatest place currently IRL. But that is my personal opinion and can be debated till the cows come home.
I would not even try to chase defensive strikeouts.....just accept it and enjoy this incredible game.
Peace.
Not to mention every pitcher throwing 97+ with knockout sliders!
Regarding strikeouts - thanks for the FYI. I think I'll leave as-is since I'm getting roughly equal on offense and defense. I was definitely striking out enough in MLB 21, but I edited every damn player in MLB 20 (took months) and can't use it in MLB 21. Felt like a waste of time.Comment

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Check swings and batter discipline is a HUGE HUGE HUGE part of baseball. It was blatantly removed in favor or a user’s thumb discipline.....vs using the actual discipline “ratings” in combination with your ability to tap the swing button. The core issue was sometimes the animation did not match up with the actual tap....and the kids were crying like babies online. So instead of cleaning up the animations to match the pressure you put on the controller and couple that with the batters discipline ratings.....THEY NERFED THE RATING.
Anyone who watches a lot of my streams on MLB 20 sees me get ringed up with weaker disciplined hitters as well as good discipline hitters (I play every inning, every pitch of every game).....the balance was fine. If it needed some slight tuning...so be it...but what they did on 21 was ridiculous.
It is all user input based on 21 and it is completely borked. You can't truly check swing anymore and have success with it which is a monster thing for me......the ball is coming in 90 plus...95 plus, 100 with drop dead wipeout breaking pitches....you gotta be able to replicate the great hitters with great control and hands the ability to check swing.
That was vaporized on MLB 21.
Check Swings were viewed as crutch by some.....I call BS. That is baseball. Watch real baseball....**** I played baseball for 35 years.....check swinging is HUGE at the High School, College and Pro levels. Having that ability is critical to your success as a hitter vs real deal pitchers.
And of course the features we loved (Y2Y, SOTS) were stripped out from the PS5......for no good reason.
Unless SDS starts moving back towards ratings based simulation which they clearly moved away from......We will continue to love MLB 20 and previous versions.....and I hope maybe we can start seeing some competition back on the market in the future for another choice in a simulation based console baseball game (hearing EA may enter back into it with a new MLB game in a few years). MLB 21 has gorgeous defensive animations.....other than that....20 does everything just as good and hitting feels 100X’s better.
For now....we are quite content and thrilled playing The Show 20.....a wonderful game. Just legendary with incredible gameplay, a solid franchise mode and the most incredible selection of classic rosters ever for any console baseball game.
Peace!!!!!Last edited by Armor and Sword; 09-01-2021, 01:32 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

I made an excel spreadsheet that does the slider and wind modifiers, so you don't have to do the website card draws.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
I’ve recently picked back up on my 2020 season on MLB 20. I use these sliders and heat great results for the most part. However, one change I’ve recently made is to my hitting camera. I’ve always used MLB 15, but recently I’ve been using the fisheye camera. I really like it, but my strikeout numbers have increased dramatically the last 19 games (since switching to fisheye).
Here’s some statistical data to show what’s been happening…
In my first 112 games using MLB 15 camera I struck out a total of 950 times. Which is 8.48 strikeouts per game.
Since picking the game back up and using fisheye camera I’ve went down swinging 192 times in 19 games. This equates to 10.1 strikeouts per game.
To give frame of reference the best and worst teams in the game are as follows.
Houston has the fewest at 7.06 per game.
St. Louis is the worst at 9.33 per game.
The alarming number is me going from 8.48 to well above the worst in the league at 10.1. I can’t seem to pick up the low balls on fisheye and I’m generally behind fastballs much more often. Here’s where I’m looking for suggestions….
Should I…
1) Keep plugging away and hopefully just get better at batting using fisheye? My thought process is that I’ll only get better over time.
2) Keep using fisheye but lower pitch speeds one notch? Again, I’m using Armor’s exact setting and have all year.
3) Go back to the MLB 15 camera.

Have you tried fisheye 2? There’s a slight difference between the fisheye cameras. I couldn’t hit a lick on 1 but 2 is a little wider and I’ve had much success.

Hey Armor (or anyone else),
With the contract extensions I have a question.
For your own team, one of the top 2 FA players that fall in the random number is a player that you don’t really care to sign a big contract, what do you do? For example, my Braves the number 2 is Drew Smyly. He’s doing decent as my long relief guy and made a couple of starts. But to make him green he would want 5 years/$40M. I don’t know if I want to give him that contract. So, for your own team, do you make those calls or do you do whatever the RNG gives?Follow me on Twitch

Does everyone playing ‘20 on HOF pitch with API off? I’m not sure which would provide more realistic outcomes. Don’t like the API on default.

I have API on because I’m not very confident in my pitch calling/sequencing but I still sometimes choose my own pitches different from the catchers suggestion. I feel like it’s been ok for me in terms of realism.
As some have said before I think it would be nice for Catchers to have a game calling attribute or something similar.

I use api as well. I let the catcher call the pitch and location. I do have a house rule though, I don’t necessarily pitch to the center of the mitt, I just make sure the ball marker is touching the mitt at some location.
I have a question maybe someone can help me with regarding franchise. I have been playing since David Wright was the cover boy (07 or 08?) and have always played with a middle of the road team, A’s, Cardinals, Royals etc.
I just started a new franchise with post trade roster and went to team select and closed my eyes and cycled through the teams and stopped the cycle and was sitting on the Dodgers. I started my franchise and noticed I had a budget of -2.93m per week. Any suggestions? I have never ran across this before.Last edited by IndianSummer; 09-06-2021, 07:58 PM.🇺🇸 58,281 🇺🇸Comment

I guess the only thing that counters this is that in the strategy guide it says, “advanced players will want to develop their own strategies and tailor their picks against their opponent.”
So maybe it would be more realistic to “call our own game” on HOF?Yankees modern day

Yankees Year 5 is 9 games away from our 5th straight post season birth!
Once we conclude the regular season I will update the news wire with the Yankees final player statistics, top performers and final standings.
Then onto the post season where the Yankees look to defend their 2020 World Series title and chase a third title overall (and go back to back).
After we conclude our off-season we will then begin:
“The Season That Never Was” The 1994 Yankees and Bacon’s Fictional Yankees Year 1
Yankees Year 6 will start Spring Training in February 2022!

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
The Yankees clinched the A.L East and the #1 seed in the A.L. Last night!!
We have 4 games left (vs Baltimore and 3 at home vs Boston).
We are currently on a season high 10 game winning streak and I have no intention of slowing it down.
I want to send the Red Sox outta the wild card race with their tail between their legs….screw them!!!!
So this weekend we will have a final statistical recap, standings and a post season preview on the newswire!!
Looking forward to a great write up with player capsules, player interviews and some news and notes from the GM’s
Office of yours truly with our outlook on this past season and our plans with the off-season and then Year 6 which will begin in February 2022.
Bacons Yankees and the 1994 Yankees will be on tap right after the Post Season is completed with hopefully our 2nd straight World Series title (3rd overall in 5 seasons).
Great times on MLB 20!!!
