Decreased off speed pitch speed by 1 and it definitely made offense more challenging. Thanks to Josh for that suggestion.

I don’t know if you noticed but we have fastball at 7 and off speed at 6. SO we keep a -1 offset to the fastball.

I love fastball at 7 this cycle. Perfect for me. But anyone setting up their pitch speeds should always use the off-set of -1 from the fastball on the off-speed.

That may be why my offense has been so potent. I am going to make that adjustment and see how it goes after at least 10 games before nerfing power.

I played a game last night and looked at my team stats vs the league and I lead on home runs but a bunch of other teams are not far behind me.

What was alarming was the amount of runs scored versus everyone else. It was a large differential.

Played with Armor's sliders for about a dozen games now, probably more. So far I've found that there's a tad too many hits for both me and the AI; usually 10 or more a game each. That doesn't always lead to a lot of runs, at least for me because I end up hitting a ton of singles, but I'd still like more variety and the ability for a CPU pitcher to dominate every now and then.

I’ve got user power, solid hits and foul frequency down at 4 and I’ve put CPU pitcher consistency up to 6 to make them a bit more accurate with their pitches.

I’ve found the CPU give me a great challenge with everything on default for them but foul frequency down on 4. I’ve got my pitching control at 4 and consistency at 6 and I’m seeing a nice balance of walks and strikeouts.

As mentioned before, this game is so well balanced in terms of pitching and CPU hitting AI. Played a game against the Indians as the White Sox earlier and hung a couple of pitches to Lindor. He punished me with a HR in the first inning to lead off the game for them and slapped a line drive straight at my LF which I got away with.

Had a great battle with Franmil Reyes as well. Kept pitching him down and away but he laid off until the count was 3-2. Knowing his power, I wanted to stay away from anything up in the zone. Tried to sneak a high 4 seamer past him and I left it too far over the plate and he crushed it to CF.

I feel like these sliders provide such a challenge to the point where I’m celebrating strikeouts of big bats in the lineup, manufacturing double plays by walking dangerous hitters knowing a slow catcher is due up next and attacking 7/8/9 hitters early in the count.

I’ve obviously adjusted them slightly to match my own skill set but this base will be a perfect place to start.

So I figured I'd try these changes to see if they lower the offensive output. Instead, they had the opposite effect and I ended up having my most offensive game so far.



I hit 6 doubles, 4 home runs, and only struck out twice. Meanwhile, the Astros had 2 doubles, 3 home runs, and 11 strikeouts. Most of their offence came off of Heaney who gave up 10 hits and 6 runs in 3.2 innings. Verlander also pitched 3.2 and gave up 9 hits and 7 runs.

Maybe this game is an anomaly but whichever pitcher they brought in just ended up throwing in the zone too often, mostly right down the middle. I'll play a few more games to see if they're just as run-heavy.

Maybe I need to increase the hitting difficulty, but this is the first time I've moved up to Hall of Fame so it shouldn't be this easy. On the pitching side, I could maybe do with adjusting the CPU hitting sliders so I'm not getting hit around so much, even with pitchers like DeGrom and Kershaw. Or I just need to get better, but pretty much every home run I give up seems to come off a hanging breaking ball that's high in the zone when I wanted to throw one in the dirt, so I dunno.

Just finished my opening series of the campaign with a sweep of the O's, and 12 lucky fans got to leave Camden Yards with a Yankee homerun souvenir ball. Totally mashed that staff.

I had been thinking about this move in my 20 or so exhibition games against various teams and starters, but after this franchise opening series bludgeoning, got to move it back a tick.

A healthy Yankees lineup is going score a bunch of runs, I would consider that lineup the exception.

Using my OP sliders with Marlins? Totally different story.


I am not tasing anything.......I am locked and loaded. What you se on that OP is my set and I fully anticipate it to be all cycle long. If patches change anything (they rarely if ever do to such an extreme that I have to make adjustments) we will keep our eye on things.

But I think there have been plenty of great suggestions to curb offense or whatever you are trying to et out of the game.

Me?

I am having so much fun. I am in a groove and franchising away.

Totally understand, their pitching staff is horrendous. I just feel like in the exhibition games, 20+ against No.1/2 starters on different teams the dinger rate is just a tick higher then I would like to see. I don't mind giving up the jacks when pitching because I know 95% of the time it was my fault throwing stupid pitches in the wrong count or not just walking a guy to set up a double play, etc.. So I will move the user down to 4 on both sliders.

Will say this, I will 100% play the whole season this time around because this game is amazing. Fix the audio drops and its perfect for me. I can't believe how this game has improved since 17' my last purchase...totally addicted now.

I am absolutely loving this set, Armor. Game plays amazing. I definitely think people should wait to adjust certain settings until after a 20-25 game sample size as you suggested. And like you, and several others I use the Yankees. When healthy, of course the lineup is going to absolutely mash. I love these.

With runner windows off, sometimes the cpu baserunner will have a steal attempt and I don't even get the "runner!" player yell so they just get an auto steal against me because I don't even know they're trying it until it's too late...

Any tips??

Ratings are playing out really nicely for me with the Giant's. I'm absolutely thrilled with this game.

Gotta look at the runner and throw to 1st if he's taking a lead.
