Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

After going back and forth on armors and joshs sliders the past week. It dawned on me that all star is just a tad too easy to pitch and on hof I just wasn’t seeing the strikeouts or misses that would make me happy.

So I combined Josh’s finding of control for both human and cpu to 6 with going back to 5 for consistency with armors sliders. Finally I’ve found a sweet spot that’s helped me get the pitching that I like.

We’re really lucky to have both these dudes working on sliders. They just get it! And it’s funny how closely their slider sets end up resembling each other’s lol.

Btw I play with pitch speed 8-7. Gives me just that little extra challenge without being too difficult or too easy.

I am about to bump up my pitch speed to 8/7 as well. I need a little more oooomph as well from fastballs.

Kind of off topic. But what do you guys do or think is best? I am wanting to start a new franchise with the Yankees using these sliders. I been using the Ridin rosters and going through and fixing the lineups to match the mlb projected lineups according to MLB. But sometimes I see a rookie playing that the AI called up and starting while the MLB.com still has them projected to start in the minors. But then I’m thinking, what if the rookie had a great spring training and made the team? Maybe he deserved that spot? And like Judge is projected to bat 2nd which lowers his rating because he wants to be a star.

So do you guys let the AI set their own lineups to begin with?

I personally don’t mess with other lineups at all. Ever. It’s just too much and it never stops them from doing silly stuff anyway. Obviously others will have a different opinion but that’s just me.

My plan was to maybe set the lineups and then set it to auto and then let the AI do what they think is best. But I don’t know how fast or when they would change it. If they change it after one game then it’s not worth all the work. But if they switch out struggling guys then I would let them.

I couldn’t even tell you if they switch out struggling players and I’ve been playing this game forever lol. I have sliders to worry about and that alone drives me completely ballistic hah!

I personally use single-team control. If a team wants to roster three catchers, more power to them. If they want to bring up a young rookie early, more power to them. They want to bat a guy down the order, more power to them.

Baseball is a game of quirks...quirky stuff happens all the time. I don't think of things in terms of "what the heck is the CPU doing?" but in terms of "Wow! The Rays are calling-up Franco already?!". (I once thought the same IRL when the Nats called-up this untested, ultra-young, LF named Soto out of the minors...). I've just never felt the need to micro-manage another team other than my own in this game. Now...I'm also not a guy that likes to engineer trades to "make stories". You can have a lot of fun with that if that's your thing (Armor does that beautifully).

But immersion for me centers around MY team, MY players, MY story...not so much the story of what is happening around the league (aside from our obvious interactions).

Now...this last piece is where I clash with a lot of folks. I HATE comparing a video game to real life. I don't care that "it would (never) happen in real life" because, you know what? I've seen pretty much everything happen in real life that people said "would never happen". Let's face it, even if you perfectly mimic the rosters (which is literally impossible), the minute 1 pitch in your game has a different outcome than real life...you have an alternate universe, and everything about it is no longer comparable to real life. Don't sweat it...because this is not a simulator, it is an RPG...and YOU, my friends, are the lead character.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider

Hey guys, loving all of the knowledge here and can’t thank everyone enough for making this the game we needed during times like this.

Question for you all - in terms of the WIND slider...I’ve always used it at 10, which in my mind makes it the most realistic feel. I doesn’t “add” wind to games, but rather EFFECTS the ball (meaning that if you hit into 18mph gusts, the ball ain’t leaving the park). What’re your thoughts on this?

I play as the Cubs and most games at Wrigley there’s 10-20mph wind and I’ve had games where the wind is blowing out = high scoring games with lots of HRs...and I’ve had quite a few games where the wind is blowing in or from RF to LF, etc and they’ve resulted in low scoring games.

Should I tune the slider back to 5? Does it even make sense to move it up...for more “realism” at 10?

Interested to see if this makes sense to anyone, thank you all!

Wow my losing streak hit 8 in a row after dropping the 1st of 2 to the Cardinals . But we did finally manage to snap it after taking game 2 with a 6-2 win. Up next the Rangers at home and it's Draft day baby . Hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying the hell out of this game

I always tell myself this at the beginning of the season yet by the end of the first month, I find myself micromanaging the CPU anyways lol.

Question, if I reduce every team to 26 man rosters before I start regular season will the rosters/ lineups stick? 30 team control and Ridins 2.5 in use.

Yes! For too many years I’ve restarted franchises over and over again because rosters weren’t correct, there was a call up in real baseball I couldn’t copy or a trade I couldn’t replicate. No more for me. I’m still playing the Jays franchise I started with the first weekend of release. I’ve dabbled with secondary franchises but keep returning to the Jays.

Maybe this has been mentioned, but is anyone seeing callups/send downs by the CPU? I'm in early June and have seen none unless it's injury related. I use 30 team control with a 2nd profile for the other 29 teams and everything on auto except for lineups/rotations.
