Yeah how did that work out. Franchise updates?

Hey guys we got a new depth chart!!!
Hey guys we removed the weekly budget screen and now it only reads as a yearly. Still the same exact budget, still works exactly the same...but hey it is an update right?

We also tuned contract and trading logic (but we already saw Lindor in a stream take well under what he signed for IRL). It will be tested and we will see what was really done.

    Guys it was horse ***t.

The classic roster community was incinerated with this move to XBOX because the feature set needed to be exactly the same as PS. This has nothing to do with how franchise mode is going to work on 21.

It is pretty much the same old franchise mode we have had since MLB 15-20

And that is ok. I play the crap out of it. It just really sucks we have 7 years worth of rosters that culminated with the enormous amount of content we all have on 20 going up in smoke with being unable to move it to 21 on the next gen.

    And for what?

They basically did nothing to franchise mode. They did nothing in terms of presentation updates, they did nothing in terms of expanded rosters. They did nothing in terms of more customization in franchise mode (except creating your own park if that is your thing). Lineup and bullpen logic? Untouched. Just a real lack of anything with substance. Seriously.....just whatever.

I am sure MLB 21 will play great. And the stadium creator looks really good.

Roster creators are starting from ground zero with zero knowledge that whatever they create on 21 can even move to 22.

Zero visibility and the lack of transparency from SDS on this has been a kick in the balls to the longtime fans of the game.

I have always defended and given them the benefit of the doubt. But their lack of telling us what really is going on tells me one thing.

    We are not a priority.

No problem. Neither is my priority to buy the game at full retail until I feel it deserves it.

    Right now? Not a chance.

MLB 20 is my game for the foreseeable future.

In 5-6 months if some killer classic rosters drop and classic parks are being created and the game plays as good as 20? Yeah maybe.

But the whole notion this was done for franchise mode has been proven false.

    Pure horse ***t

    Common sense speaks volumes.

Well said. I bought the game but still plan to play my franchise on 20. And I have never felt that a way before. New game was released and I would put the old game away or trade it in.

I don’t understand their plan on this. They said we listened to your feedback and spent so much time on checked swings and we fixed it. They fixed what wasn’t broken for us and actually made it worse by removing ratings. But when we ask them about the future of Y2Y saves and rosters, we hear nothing.

(Stands up and starts the slow clap)

After reading your post Armor I feel like the guy that had to follow MLK after I Have a Dream Speech....

Anyway...totally agree with on everything you said all us guys that have been playing MLBTS for a decade or more see the writing on the wall, DD is their money maker and today’s Gamers just don’t have the patience like us OG Gamers to play a full 162 game season and we see it even in real life with all these crazy rules baseball is doing...Extremely hate the Extra Inning rule...

Anyway...Armor you Hit the Head on the Nail...this is the first time I believe in about 2007 I am not buying It on release day and it does feel weird but it also makes me sad cause us Franchise guys are going to be left behind...
It's all about the man Hammer'n Hank...

Precisely how I feel. I think there was likely purposeful omission of any game and dev tourney vids as well as much short pre recorded promo vids because for those of us who have played this to death since the beginning there is virtually nothing new on the field. Also, with budgets, scouting, rosters etc all working the same there is little off the field for franchise players. Fair enough, but I won’t be buying this cycle for the first time ever. In fact, after the “next gen disguised as stadium creator vid” I actually started a new 2019 franchise and imported it into 2020 where I can play two full years with actual schedules (and retain Mookie!! Lol).

That said I am happy for the folks who have been waiting for stadium creator. It is a big add. Actually wish I was one of them.

For some reason I get an error when I try to edit my post above. So in addition, I don’t believe we have confirmation of full minors either.

All of that said, from a business perspective it makes perfect sense, and honestly it’s exactly what I expected. Port ‘20, spruce up some menus, stadium creator is the big add, get in into Xboxers hands. Hope everyone buys stubs and packs. I actually wish SDS all the luck,I hope it works. I’ll stick with ‘20.

I just started The Quest For Donny Baseball 1987 Yankees Year 3 post season on 18 this morning. Once that is done we are moving her to 20

I went ahead and simmed my S.F Giants Fantasy Flashback 1990-2007 franchise that I started back on 17 and carried to 18. I knew we would not make a post season run in year 1 so I simmed the rest of the season (was in June) just did the off-season on 18, moved it to 19 and was able to move it right over to 20 with 19’s schedule.

Now I have 7 incredible franchises to rotate on 20:

            Yankees YR5
            Bacons Marlins YR1
Royals Fantasy draft 1980’s Strat YR1
            Fantasy Draft Cardinals YR3
            1993 Yankees/Marlins YR1
            1987 Yankees Year 4

And soon TBD 2021 franchise using Brinskies Opening Week 1000 hour 2021 updated roster.

And plus all the clssic rosters in the 20 vault.

MLB 20 is where it is at folks. And once all of you secure a PS5??? Oh baby wait till you play 20 on the PS5!!!!

            Baseball nirvana!!!!

I think that's the biggest part of what you said. Classic Roster Creators won't even know if what they create in 21 will be able to carryover in to 22.

That's going to be a lot of rework for 21, if some even do them, just to not know if they'll be able to use them in 22.

Think they should come out and at least say that starting with 21, you'll be able to have Y2Y and Rosters going forward again.

I don't get it either. They would save a lot of face by doing that. Unless they don't know if they can yet.

Interested in anyone’s thoughts of double headers being in The Show? As someone who’s been a constant player since MLBTS19, have double headers ever been a thing and (if not) would it be that difficult to implement?

I feel like that would be quite an awesome experience in Franchise, and I’ve never really seen anyone bring it up (unless it’s just a commonly known thing of not having been in the game) since there are a good amount of these in the real life MLB schedule.

It would provide a different element for those games. Especially for fatigue issues and strategy. Personally, I would love to see it. But I think that would be a lot of coding. With the 2 games being 7 innings long and I believe you can add a 27th player for those games. Figuring that they can't figure out how to do rotating schedules or at least minimum going back and using the schedules from the previous 3 years, I would say this would never happen.

Hello to all this amazing community, I just started a 2021 rangers franchise, I put the scoutscoops roster pick the rangers and I let the cpu run everything for one year(2020), draft, trades, free agents, etc, then in 2021 i took control, and with the help of all the information on this thread, the armor manifesto about baseball i think im starting to know how to play and enjoy every single game, i started 0-7, now i am 5-9 with a 4 game winning streak, pitch and hit on legend, having an amazing time... i dont know... just... working every at bat, every pitch... knowing your roster... im having a cool time, thanks to this commmunity, im lookin to ad a game changer bat, benintendi or dickerson are on the trade block.. so, maybe pull the trigger...

Right there with you, although I know it’s something that they have either never put thought into, or maybe it’s on the back burner...but you have to understand that baseball is the only major sport where this takes place (in terms of playing 2 games in one day) and you’d think since it’s been an integral part of the sport for years, they’d somehow, someway have it in the game by now.

It would be a crazy awesome challenge to handle double headers in regard to player, pitcher, and bullpen energy/fatigue...definitely not holding out hope for this feature, but one can imagine every once in a while.

I think they said MVP had doubleheaders. It is something that a video game almost 20 years ago can have features that we want (doubleheaders and rotating schedules) that we can not get in today's game.

The lack of rotating inter-league schedules at this point is a head scratcher.

Yes MVP did have rain outs and double headers. I miss that so much. Rain shortened too I believe but could be wrong. It was a long time ago.
