There has absolutely been under the hood tinkering with check swings. OOTB checks were so much better than 21 then something happened and checks went back to 21 status. I have returned to 22 here and there, more like a late night dabble and i can tell checks are back to OOTB status and maby even better. Still 22 is no where near the game 20 is. The only area 22 beats 20 is defense. The game in motion on defense is a 10\10. So much missing with franchise broadcast cut scenes, horrible pbp and of course RAWLINGS RED LABLES missing is a massive L in my book. 22 is by no means a terrible game. Its beautiful, smooth as hell and the best defense the show has ever had. Its just missing the heart of 20. The last all in MLB THE SHOW TITLE.

Well said Cole. No doubt 20 receives a better overall score, BUT whatever tinkering they've done "under the hood" brought 22 back to within striking distance. I'd say if anyone is hell bent on playing with up-to-date rosters, they'll enjoy 22 enough to stick with it.

It's playing better (default sliders) than I've ever seen it........though, 20 will prob forever be The G.O.A.T.

My advice to those that like both.****n historical roster "one-off" seasons on 20, and run a long-term current roster franchise on 22.

20 plays the best baseball. 22 has started to grow on me again as I am enjoying a franchise on each of the 2 games.

My take is always try for yourself to see if you will enjoy it. We all enjoy and want different things.

I just want to play the version that gives me the best and most realistic results. I’m not a big stickler on quality of graphics as much as realism. Having said that, I like the idea of playing with default sliders - as I tend to get slider-iris - even though Armour’s sliders have never let me down.

The consensus is that ‘20 is the GOAT. Why? More realistic results? The BIG problem I had with ‘22 was that I simply could not get any offence from CPU. Has that changed using all default sliders? I would love to try to play ‘22 again, but I don’t want to spend the time setting up a franchise, playing 20 games and being disappointed in the results again

I can only speak for myself

20 is better gameplay wise because it feels like there is more of a dice roll effect along with a wider range of score results and hit types.

I’ll say this…..22 is playing more like 20 with each game I play. I know it’ll never get there, but it’s way closer than it once was.

I dont want to take over Armors 20 slider thread on 22 however coming from someone who put well over 100 hours into 22 i can absolutely say 22 is playing much better and the cpu can punch you back on default sliders. Something deff has been done under the hood with gameplay and it feels so much better than it did when i shelved it. However this version is a one off season type of game. The immersion that 20 has is just not here in 22 and most likely never coming back. 22 is perfect if you want a single season modern lineup baseball game imo. Play both side by side if you want and get the best of both worlds.

For me, 20 is the best because of my main franchise on it. The last year of carryover saves is a big factor here for me. It plays great baseball as a whole, especially hitting wise, but fielding is better on 22.

I get that you don't want to waste time for it not to be what you want and I can respect that. Meant no offense by it. Just saying playing for yourself is the best way to determine if a game is for you. I don't use default sliders. But I am getting plenty of CPU offense on all star. I also have made a unique franchise on 22 so that helps me.

I would say 22 has about the same immersion. The new presentation elements are quite nice. As far as commentary, there could be improvement there.

i guess i worded it wrong. i just mean without y2y saves i cant get very invested into a full chise knowing i cant carry that hard work forward. if you plan to multi year chise on 22 then mayb the full immersion could be there for you or any of us.

Armour, are you still using the sliders as they are updated on the OP? I think you indicated that your pitch speeds are 6/5, correct?

Do you guys know if the roster vault still works for 20? I’m seriously considering also going back. Is there a current day roster available for 20?
