Hi Josh, this may be a dumb question, but in terms of difficulty for hitting and pitching you recommend All Star or All Star+. What exactly is All Star+ in this case given we don't have the dynamic difficulty turned on? I don't see an All Star+ difficulty setting in the gameplay menu like I do All Star. Thanks for your help!

Here are the instructions to get it setup
Steps for Using Dynamic Difficulty:
1. Go into game settings and change hitting and pitching to dynamic.
2. Load sliders, make sure the dynamic difficulty sensitivity slider is set to 5. (It can be higher as well while you do your run to boost the difficulty).
3. Save any changes to the sliders.
4. Go into a Play Now game and see what level it has you set to (there will be a pop-up).
5. Play the game and wait for it to go to AS+. (now...if it starts you at a lower level...go ahead and boost the sensitivity slider to 10 and/or bias the sliders completely in your favor - this all will just make it go faster).
6. Once you hit AS+ on both hitting and pitching, exit the game you're playing. Go and load the OP sliders and then change the dynamic difficulty sensistivity slider to 0. That will lock you into AS+.
7. Once in franchise, double check your game settings and sliders and make sure they are what you want."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
Awesome, thanks! I assume All Star+ just makes the game slightly more difficult to help makes things a little more realistic for good players. I'm towards the end of a season and my team batting average is still around .285 (pitching a team ERA around 3) and I've easily got the best record, so things are just a little too easy I think.Last edited by mitchel55; 02-13-2021, 02:37 AM.Comment

Yes. You won't suddenly be the worst team in the league but it should make things a bit tougher but in a realistic way."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
With my 'gut' telling me that I am likely going to stick with MLB20 for franchise mode for quite a while; I thought I would go ahead and keep things going here.
In the last slider update I posted (back in October) I lowered the fielding speed and fielding reaction sliders down to 4. I'm going to ballpark that I've played around 50 games or so at these settings. If I focus on individual animations; yes, they do typically look a little 'cleaner' at times. But, when I look holistically at the overall game environment, something just doesn't quite balance-out. In short, there's just way too many hits the fall into the gaps, too many little dribblers that get past defenders. Even if the slider changes only directly impact the outcome of 2-3 ABs per game; that can have a pretty dramatic impact on pitcher confidence, which can then devolve into more and more hits.
I'm not a huge "stat guy" with my video games; but it's hard for even me to ignore it when my team batting average has shot up from the .250s to the .280s (and it's definitely been this way on the CPU offensive side). I've also seen a number of contact-oriented guys with contact ratings in the 70s (but low power) hit close to or over .300...with big spikes (like .320s/.330s) since the change. I'd much prefer those guys to be more in the .270s - .280s. If you think about it, a contact rating of 60 is considered to be "league average"....in that context, seeing guys with contact in the 70s pretty consistently running up into the .300s doesn't quite make sense (and I have enough of a sample size that I feel it isn't "noise" in the data).
Some people might say "then lower the contact slider"...but then, you're just adding more complexity than is needed. Now you begin impacting the duel between pitcher and batter; and I genuinely like where we are with it right now. The big thing to me is lowering that BABIP (which we unfortunately cannot easily track - but it feels a bit too high for my taste). So, the "right move" for me is to revert those two fielding sliders (speed and reaction) back to default. The funny thing is that I went through this same process last year...vouching hard for default for a long while, switching to 4/4, and then reverting it back.
So yes, I'm going to revert the OP back to defaults. While the lower sliders help 'stretch' the fielding rating a bit (which is good); it's condensing the hitting ratings a fair bit more (which is not good). I'm going to 'take the hit' on the fielding side for the sake of a little better balance.Really wish sports games played to ratings!

I’ve been using these with the 7/6 fastball/ off speed but was wondering if I do increase to 8/7 does the speed appear faster to the cpu batters as well?

Now since changing the mentioned sliders back to default, yes I get the “Oh come on” reaction when smoking a ball and having some fielder run it down that before would most likely have been a hit before. But it’s better than a.250 career hitter competing for a batting title every year.
I had also battled myself with pitch speed for nearly two franchise seasons. I’m also not a big stat guy but when you have stats that are just eye popping I have to look at them. I had almost never ran into a situation where a pitcher was just blowing me away. In fact it seemed like the harder they threw the better I hit. I couldn’t remember the last time I faced a starter that punched me out eight plus times. So I switched to 8/7 pitch speed. It took some time to get used to but it gave me the results I was looking for.
I’m not buying a PS5 anytime soon. And I don’t see any reason to buy the new version of this game without the new console. I found a sick roster set for the 21 season you can play on the 20 edition of the show. I’m going to stick with these sliders. Thanks for your continued work on this set!Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
I couldn’t agree more with this post. I absolutely agree that keeping reaction and fielder speed at default is the answer. A perfect example is my cardinals franchise last year. After switching from default everything to this set my team went from 20th in the majors in runs scored to tenth. And then when the recommendation was to switch to 4/4 for the mentioned sliders the team went from tenth to second in runs scored. Home runs were very accurate but the sheer number of hits and especially doubles and triples went through the roof.
Now since changing the mentioned sliders back to default, yes I get the “Oh come on” reaction when smoking a ball and having some fielder run it down that before would most likely have been a hit before. But it’s better than a.250 career hitter competing for a batting title every year.

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
Josh,
See your having fun with ATL Fictional Franchize. Great read! I have a question in regards to cameras. So I switched up and went from Dynamic to outfield (pitching) and I was getting smoked... Used it for about 30-40 games in my franchise. Then I switched back to Dynamic and realized I was getting better results. Now I know this is all about preference and look. But is it possible the game plays different when switching between. I mean I don’t want to feel like I’m cheating the cpu. Sort of like the cameras for hitting like zone not being used because it gives the hitter (user) an advantage. Sorry if the question sounds ridiculous I’m just curious if you have heard or run into anything like this or perhaps it’s all in my head 🤷🏻*♂️. Thanks in advance.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
I’ve always pitched from the same camera I hit with. I doubt it gives me any advantage of any kind. It’s certainly a user’s preference. There’s some things you have to just decided on yourself and camera angles is typically one of those things.Comment
