This is EXACTLY what I’m looking for. After only playing with meter pitching for years I reached the point where I was considering pitching on legend. However when using classic I find I have to pitch on all star. Which is fine. I have no idea what I’m doing lol. I’ve played around with several “releases” such as a single tap, half way, I don’t really see any real difference. I suppose a single tap has given me the best results? It’s literally a completely different game compared to using meter pitching. I may never go back!

Button release points will vary for each pitcher. The duration that you hold it essentially replicates the pitcher's arm velocity. A faster arm velocity means more torque; breaking balls will pitch break harder, FBs will be faster, etc.

The duration to where you get the vibration is like hitting the top of the meter in meter pitching. As I'm sure you know, it is risk/reward as the cost is command of the pitch (and a quicker stamina drain). The ideal spot (i.e. hitting the line on the meter) is often a "sweet spot" of command and pitch velo. Tapping on the button in classic is akin to letting the meter only go up a little bit....so less velo, a "loopier" break but with command.

The mechanic is essentially the same, but you're operating more by 'feel' (especially if you turn off the vibration) as you don't have a visual aid. It takes getting used to, but it really is a fun way to play the game.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I can not believe how much just a few clicks of a slider set can make a difference, specifically the pitch speed and pitcher control. What a difference.

It doesn't take much at all. That's really the beauty of this game.

You can really just kick back and enjoy the ebbs and flows. You'll have a wide array of games. What's really fun is right when you think you're doing well, you'll hit that stretch of games where you struggle (and vice versa).

This game really captures the 'essence' of the sport beautifully; it just needs those couple of minor tweaks to allow it to really come alive.

You aren't kidding there, just when I made a user adjustment at the plate and drew 5 walks, scoring 8. I thought " yes, just keep executing this adjustment and I'll be hitting great". Next two games I totaled 8 hits combined. Ouch.

Do you guys actually use the left stick? I noticed a pretty dramatic difference when I do use it opposed to when I don’t. I can’t believe the difference with classic pitching compared to meter. My team era is a run and half higher with classic. I guess it’s more realistic? This whole classic/ directional thing is completely new to me lol.

If you don't use the left stick you're basically just throwing every pitch down the middle or do you mean use left stick when hitting which would make more sense lol I use it depending on who is up to bat and the situation. Some players I have better results without the stick influence so I rarely use it with them.

No, they are so simple, I don't see the need. And frankly, the game settings are very important and you can't expound on that in the vault.

Directional hitting definitely involves the use of the stick; but it's batter by batter, situation by situation. It's....a bit convoluted to be honest. For RHBs; left influence is pull, right influence is push, up and down are more where you want the bat head to pass through.

I'd recommend reading WarmWind's directional hitting guide in the main forum...it should be easy to find. (Edit: gainzbro linked it for ya - thanks man!)

There's no "right" or "Wrong" way to approach which influence you use and when; that is part of the "art" of this interface and you have to figure out what works best for your team/players.

Josh, would you ever recommend putting pitching speed to 10 for fastballs and 9 for off speed? It seems like that'd be closer to what you'd experience in real life where you only have a fraction of a second to decide to swing. But I wouldn't do it if you've noticed it messes other things up with the gameplay...

Pitch speed is purely visual. It does not effect the game in any way to my knowledge. It is solely how fast "you" see the ball comes in. Its a great adjustment tool for your playing. I could never use that fast lol. My old eyes can barely handle speed of 6.

It doesn't mess with other aspects of gameplay. But I think ultra high pitch speeds are less skill-based, relying solely on muscle memory for timing (the ability to lay off a pitch remains the same). The beauty of the slightly lower speeds is that they're still slow enough to force you into thinking about timing your swing while making the window of time shorter. Personally, I wouldn't recommend going higher than 8/7.

Made an update to the OP this afternoon:

                                Fielder Run Speed 4
                                Fielder Reaction 4

This is the first change I've made in months. I was initially concerned greatly about it causing some bad animations. But it really does a nice job of "stretching" the ratings just a hair. What I was not aware of was that sometimes slider adjustments need a bit to really settle-down into the game....similar to Madden. So, you might need a few games with the adjustment before the game "Settles down" (you might see some odd animations initially) but I think this is a really good one.
