Hey Josh, is it possible to adjust the auto DH after you start a franchise? I just started a fresh one and put it on auto DH, since it looks like that's the future but wanted to know if I could change if needed.

I think the bigger problem is people who need someone to hold their hand to answer the simple questions in life when they can empower themselves and find the answer on their own.

I get what you’re saying at a high level. But let’s be frank, a lot of settings in this game ARE a bit buried. We’re here to talk about the game and spread our love of it. Sometimes that means helping people out.
And Braves, to your question, no there isn’t. However, if MLB adds the rule next season, I could see it being added as a mid-franchise option to accommodate people using carrryover saves.

Dude, some of us don't live around our PS4 like others. I am not going to be around mine for several days. Only reason I ask this question is because I respect Josh and he has always been my go to for anything I need. I guess some of us could use some hand holding in how to be kind humans...Comment

Thanks for the response Josh, as always. I was torn on setting it to ON because I'm an NL guy, but I don't think there is any turning back once it's implemented this year so didn't want to risk it for a carryover.Comment

What are your thoughts on having budgets on or off? I know this question gets asked a ton on various threads, but I don’t know if I have ever read your opinion. I am planning on starting a new franchise with Bacon’s roster and I am trying to decide what I want to do.

1. Budgets ON. With them off, trading just doesn't make sense; there's nothing to really hold things together. You can basically spend as much as you want without any repercussions. If you just want to fart around and build a crazy powerhouse, it's fine. But if you want to be really immersed into a franchise, I highly recommend keeping them on.
2. Single team control, GM contracts ON. I've spoken to this before but in short, it forces you to think about the near term and long term all at once.
In my Braves chise, my GM contract says I have to get to the World Series within the 3 year deal. But, my team is old AND have a crummy farm. We've struggled this year....badly. Now, if I GM contracts on...I could dump everyone for a bunch of 20 yr old prospects, wait 5 years and build a power. Is that realistic? No. As a consequence of having GM contracts on, I have been forced to be creative - making not only deals for contracts, but selecting draftees based on MLB proximity, and making smart moves to allow me to supplement my team in the off-season without disrupting the younger aspect of my core. It's made for some agonizingly tough decisions - and that is what I want out of a sports game.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
Gave your sliders a go in my second franchise. I use Houstons in the other and have had good success.. I grabbed PJs All Time roster set and plugged your sliders in. I am 9-5 with the Red Sox. Everything has been playing well... I started out red hot and then hit a slump. Right now I feel like I'm trading wins and loss every other game. Definitely enjoying these. Hopefully if they release a patch this week it doesnt mess with it too much. Great work Josh!

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
I know I haven't posted much in this thread lately. I'm just kinda at that stage where there isn't too much to say that hasn't been covered already. I'm not even entertaining slider changes right now.
I've been posting progress of my fictional Braves franchise in the fictional franchise thread in the main forum. Long story short, we're struggling big time and are in a mini-rebuild. Heck, I'm not even sure if we'll win 60 games at this juncture.
But; I have a plan in place for the off-season....it's just a matter of execution. I'm always around though if people have questions (whether on the sliders or other topics).Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
